My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
Chapter 1956 You've Gone Too Far

Athena fumed. "Byron, you've crossed the line!"

After saying that, she turned to storm out the door.

Byron immediately grabbed her. "I admit, sending Paul away wasn't just to keep him away from Mia, creating an unsafe situation, but I sent him to the top-notch university for his studies. It's for his good, isn't it?"

Athena glared at Byron. "But Paul doesn't want to go! No prestigious university matters if he's unhappy!"

Byron said, "He's just a kid."

"You know he's just a kid?" Athena's face was filled with disappointment. "I thought that after your memory loss, you had let go of those old fixations, but not."

Those words cut deep, stabbing right into Byron's heart.

Byron said, sounding a bit desperate, "I haven't repeated my past mistakes. It's different!"

Athena looked at him with a complex expression.

She frowned and said, "You always have so many reasons for everything. Well, there's another matter I want to discuss with you."

Byron held onto Athena's arm tightly, staring at her in silence.

Athena asked, "The Welding family is dead. Did you know that?"

Byron's gaze grew heavy, and he nodded. "I knew."

Athena questioned, "So, tell me, are you involved in this?"

Byron remained silent.

Athena pressed on. "Why did you pull out the surveillance team in such a flashy manner?"

When the news of the Welding family's tragic demise surfaced, Mike went to get some initial information.

The incident occurred two days ago at noon.

The detectives responsible for tailing the Welding family were dining at the town's most significant and busiest restaurant.

They chatted and laughed the whole time, spreading the news about their impending departure.

As soon as they left town that very evening, the Welding family met a tragic end.

Byron looked at Athena. "They deserved to die, didn't they? If Seth hadn't taken me away, you would have found me and brought me back for treatment. I wouldn't have been forced to be separated from you! Besides, they lied to me, Bertha poisoned me, and Zora almost dragged me down with her in front of you. Why should I let them live?"

A sense of helplessness enveloped Athena. "You could have told me directly."

"I don't want any of this filth to have any connection with you, and I don't want to argue or fight with you over these irrelevant people." Byron's attitude gradually softened. "Honey, rest assured, I'll take care of everything in Paul's life outside. During the holidays, if he wants to come back to see his friends and parents, I'll bring him back."

Athena looked at him and said very seriously, "Byron, you can't force anyone to do something against their will. I hate that behavior, really, really hate it!" Byron stood there, dazed.

Athena gently freed herself from his grip. "I'm going to sleep in Mia's room. You should think about it on your own."

After that, Athena turned and headed downstairs.

The stairwell's lights were dim.

Athena had taken just a few steps when she felt her limbs growing weak.

She had thought that since she had decided to let go of the past and spend the rest of her life with Byron, things would be fine.

But when similar events recurred, the pain and resentment of the past rushed back uncontrollably.

He had changed.

He was considerate of those around him, polite to everyone, a far cry from his previous self.

Why did this sudden change happen?

Could it be that all the goodness from before was just an act, a façade to hide his true self from himself?

And besides Paul and the Welding family, had he done anything else?
