My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1968 Horrible Thoughts
The moment Byron heard the question, he had only one thought in his mind.
He couldn't let Athena know what had happened.
Shortly, the police station called Martin with the number Byron provided.
When Martin heard that the call was from a suburban police station more than 60 miles away from Girard City, he thought it was a scam.
Unexpectedly, the other party handed the phone to Byron.
Only then did Martin go to pick him up in a hurry.
Athena sat in the car, waiting for Martin to drive away. Then, she said to Dorian without raising her eyes, "Go and ask what happened. Why did Byron end up at the police station."
"Yes!" Dorian opened the car door and got out of the car.
He strode into the police station without having the time to take an umbrella with him.
It didn't take long before Dorian came back.
"They said that Mr. Crawford saw a man abusing his daughter, so he beat the man into the hospital," Dorian said concisely, "When Mr. Crawford was brought to the police station, he was soaked and didn't have a mobile phone with him. I guess he lost it. That's why he didn't contact you in time."
"The car he drove had a GPS positioning. Ask people to replace it." After hearing Dorian's words, Athena fell silent for a long time before speaking.
"Yes!" Dorian immediately made arrangements, then looked at Athena through the rearview mirror. "Then... Are we going back to Lakin now?" There was silence for about a second or two.
Athena said, "Go to this address."
She sent Dorian a location.
Dorian took a look and found it a place he had never been to, but it was quite close to the Imbe Group's Building.
Dorian didn't ask where it was.
He slowly started the car and drove into the rain.
When Byron just came out of the police station, the clothes he wore were one of the spare clothes Athena put in his car.
Athena suddenly recalled that not long ago, Byron came back from work the other day wearing spare clothes in the car.
That day, he had a faint smell of medicine on him.
Athena was inexplicably panicked for no reason.
Suddenly, there was an idea in her mind that Byron probably wouldn't return to Lakin directly.
He was soaked and had changed into the spare clothes in the car, but there would always be some traces left, like hair or something.
Athena reckoned Byron would replace a place to clean himself up before returning.
The car was speeding through the heavy rain.
Dorian decided by himself to play some soothing music for relaxing.
Athena didn't stop him.
She just leaned back on the backrest, closed her eyes tightly, and said nothing while pressing her lips.
Martin sent a message to her just when she arrived in Girard City: [Mrs. Crawford, Mr. Crawford is at the apartment in the city center for now. He will return later. Don't be worried.] Just as what she had expected.
Athena's look became more gloomy.
She did not park the car in the garage.
Instead, she asked Dorian to park the car on the side of the road.
As time passed, minute by minute, Athena didn't speak, and Dorian didn't dare to ask or move.
It wasn't until after eleven o'clock at night that Martin drove out from the garage exit.
"Mrs. Crawford!" Dorian quickly turned back and looked at Athena.
Athena watched the car drive towards the road until it disappeared at the end of the road. "Let's get in the garage."
Dorian was confused.
Although he was full of doubts, Athena now was really scary.
He immediately did as she said.
