Chapter 2035 Only Death Anniversary

Half an hour later, Ennis was pushed into a room with carpets. And even he could feel it was soft with his feet.

He was fortunate that they didn't tie and sack him with the hemp rope and sack.

Maybe it was because Ennis was very cooperative all the way.

Before he could stand firm, the door was closed.

Looking up, Ennis saw a slender figure standing before a retro window. And she was staring in a trance at a ginkgo tree outside the window.

"Ms. Stella."

Ennis greeted her first.

Turning around, Athena said, "There you are."

Ennis showed a bitter smile. "They came to me with the sack and hemp rope. They will take me here if I am unwilling to come here, right?"

Coming over, Athena sat down on the red velvet sofa. "Sit down, please."

Ennis obediently went over, sitting down on the chair opposite Athena.

"Let us talk about the accident with your parents." Athena gave a sharp gaze at Ennis, showing she had known all the truth.

Ennis changed his expression slightly.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Do you think why this accident would happen?" Athena asked.

"During those few months, my father was nervous and uneasy after knowing something. Therefore, he forgot to do a car service and maintenance. Coupled with the extreme weather that day, they had a violen collision on the highway after the brakes failed, causing him and my mother to die on the spot."

Looking at Athena, Ennis was silent for a moment.

Then he added, "It was my birthday that day. And they had the accident on their way home from the search institute."

Athena showed a surprise in her eyes.

"I know your worries. Indeed, for a long time, I thought Madam Crawford killed my father because he discovered her shocking secret. And I also lost in hatred for a long time, thinking about how to make her pay for it every day."

Athena remained silent.

Ennis looked sideways out of the window. "Until at the age of eighteen, I accidentally learned that Madam Crawford had been helping me from behind after my father passed away. I could enter the ideal university without any hindrance. And someone was willing to provide financial support to my research project even if I was young. Moreover, I would receive a birthday gift from her every year, accompanying a handwritten letter with each gift."

Ennis choked up. "My grandparents had resentment towards me because my parents died. They died on the way home because I cried for wanting my parents to come back to celebrate my birthday. My grandparents raised and treated me well, but I know they all hate me. Because of me, they lost the son they loved most. After that day, I had never celebrated my birthday at home because it was the death anniversary of my parents."

Ennis was young when Peter died.

As a three or four-year-old boy, he naturally longed for his parents to celebrate his birthday.

And he couldn't know that the car had broken down or that his parents would die on the way home.

If he could have known it earlier, he would not have chosen to celebrate his damn birthday!

"Only Madam Crawford would celebrate my birthday." Smiling at Athena, Ennis shrugged. "Her letters and gifts saved me from the abyss in those years. Whenever I see the words, dear Ennis, I feel like it was my happiest time of the year."
