Chapter 221 The Fever

Byron extinguished the cigarette.

"How did you come over here?"

"I... I woke up and didn't see you. I was afraid..." Freya whispered, "Are you smoking?"

"Just relieving fatigue," Byron replied as he walked over, "It's cold outside. Let's go back to the ward."

"You didn't smoke before," Freya said softly, "Am I making you annoyed?"

"Freya, you need to set aside these thoughts in your mind. You have to live for yourself. Don't always worry about whether others will get annoyed or like you!" Byron said sternly. To be honest...

Freya's dependence on him indeed made it hard for him to breathe.

But...

He couldn't just abandon Freya!

"I understand. I will! Please don't be angry!" Freya immediately said.

Byron felt extremely speechless.

He suddenly felt deflated.

"Come on. Let's go back to the ward."

Freya obediently followed him back to the ward.

Around the same time...

Athena was awakened by a nightmare.

She sat up in bed, feeling a bit dizzy.

She got up and went to the living room to replace a thermometer. It turned out she had a slight fever.

She figured it was because she had exerted herself too much during the day and sweated. The fluctuation between hot and cold air caused her to have a fever.

Athena wrapped herself in a small blanket and sat on the couch in the living room. She had bought some fever-reducing medicine for pregnant women and a cooling patch.

After she waited for about half an hour...

The medicine was delivered.

She took the medicine, applied the cooling patch, and crawled back into bed.

Usually, she used to complain about Byron's body being too hot. Now that he wasn't there, the bed just couldn't warm up no matter what.

The next day, Athena woke up after 9 o'clock.

She measured her temperature again, and the fever was gone.

She just felt a bit weak.

She got up and went to the closet to put on a set of warm clothes.

She also wore a white knitted hat.

She dressed warmly and prepared to go out.

As she passed by the study, she took a glance inside.

When she left...

Athena looked around at the cozy decorations in the room.

At this moment, she thought that this outing was just a regular visit.

She never imagined...

When she returned, it would already be many years later.

Athena went to the sandwich shop downstairs and had their signature sandwich.

Then she bought a large bouquet of roses and hurried to the private hospital where Sally was.

Sally wanted roses.

She said only vibrant red roses were a match for someone as hot as herself.

Athena found the ward according to the room number given by Sally.

As she got closer, she checked the door numbers.

"Athn, over here!"

While she was looking for the room, Sally slyly peeked out of the room.

Sally suddenly realized Athena was standing at the door of Byron's mistress's room.

Sally quickly greeted her.

"Ms. Campbell!"

Athena approached with the flowers.

Sally pulled her inside. She had one arm in a cast, and her forehead was bandaged. She smiled and spun around Athena.

"Is your head okay?" Athena asked with concern.

"Just a minor concussion!" Sally said while nodding, "Curls really suit you. When you had straight hair, I always wanted to design a hairstyle for you!" Athena smiled and handed the flowers to Sally. "Wishing you a speedy recovery. When you're better, I'll treat you to a meal at a Mexican restaurant!" "I'll remember your promise!"

With one hand holding the flowers, Sally placed them by the bedside.

Just as Athena was about to sit down...

Sally linked arms with her. "Don't sit here. It's rare to have such good weather outside. Help me downstairs to the small garden, so we can enjoy the sun."

"Sure."
