Chapter 286 Grilled Beef Takeout

The car drove on, seemingly passing through the High-Tech Zone.

Athena spotted the Imbe Group Energy sign from a distance.

She wondered what the usage of the building afterward.

Why would Imbe Group Energy be located so far away in the High-Tech Zone?

Athena reminisced about Byron's proud announcement of purchasing the neighboring building five years ago. She had assumed that such matters would have faded from memory over time.

Yet, upon her return, old memories resurfaced vividly.

"There's something I think I should tell you," Evie's announced and interrupted Athena's thoughts.

"Hmm?" Athena turned to her.

"My grandma injured her leg, and when I came back, I got her admitted to a better hospital. She's in the VIP ward," Evie said and paused, "You remember Madam Crawford, right? You two had a good relationship, didn't you?"

"Yeah, we got along fine," Athena replied casually.

"Well, she's not doing well. It's only been the past month or two," Evie informed her.

In fact, Evie had found out about this during Mia's hospital visit, where she had encountered Byron. Curiosity got the better of her, and she wondered why Byron ended up in the VIP ward, and paid a nurse for some information.

The nurse, with loose lips, spilled the beans after a small bribe.

"I see..."

Athena recalled the kind-hearted old woman, her emotions becoming complicated.

Logically, she should go and visit her.

It was just that...

She simply didn't want to have any further involvement with Byron anymore.

The car pulled into the garage.

Mia, with enthusiasm, held her mother's hand as they rode the elevator, and explored their new home floor by floor.

They felt tired from the excursion, hence decided to order takeout.

It happened to be the same restaurant where they encountered Byron.

Initially, Evie had gotten goosebumps from seeing the restaurant's name and felt a lingering fear.

But Mia insisted on ordering from there, so Evie reluctantly called in the order.

"Is this where Mia recommended? Is the grilled beef here delicious?" Athena remarked, surprised as she watched Mia diligently cut the beef steak, and clumsily stood on a stool. "Mia, you're amazing! You can even use a knife to cut steak?"

Mia beamed with pride, and offered the beef chunk to Athena.

Without hesitation, Athena took a bite.

To her surprise, it tasted exceptionally good, even better than the grilled beef she had eaten in Dunlop City.

"Am I talented?" Mia proudly announced. "He showed me how to cut it, and I learned!"

"He?" Athena looked at Evie.

Evie was nearly petrified.

"Oh, right! Mia made friends with a handsome gentleman!" Mia informed Athena excitedly, "He treated me to grilled beef, meatballs, and pasta..."

"Wow, you remember all the food so clearly!" Evie glared at her, then explained to Athena, "We had dinner with my mom a few days ago, and Mia accidentally went into the wrong private room. They found her adorable and fed her some food."

"Mia!" Athena became serious. "Is that the right thing to do?"

Mia lowered her head in guilt and replied, "But the gentleman is my friend. I even gave him a butterfly hairpin."

"Ah, it's been a few days already, and I scolded her for it. Let's eat. Come on!" Evie turned overwhelmed.

If Athena found out that the gentleman Mia referred to was actually Byron, it would be a problem.

Athena's expression changed as she looked at Mia.

She held Mia in her arms and said, "Sweetheart, Mom doesn't want to be angry with you, but Mom doesn't want Mia to be an impolite little child. Can you understand me?"

Mia nodded sadly.

Just as she was about to cry, something unexpected happened.

Aiden, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up and said, "Mia, why don't you cut me a beef steak too?"
