Chapter 475 Extreme Protection

"He told you a lot," Lola said, turning to look at Byron. "You haven't gone mad and started thinking she's Athena, have you?"

Byron silently met her gaze.

"Lola, he wasn't willingly placed in your womb. Over the years, you and Alivia raised him to be self-indulgent and cold-blooded. But even so, wasn't he good enough for you? Your worthless relatives made money off the Crawford Group, and Byron filled the gaps left by their short-sightedness. When you realized he was out of control, you conspired with the senior management to kick him out. Did you even consider maternal love then? How far do you have to push him before he can fight back?" Athena spoke up loudly.

During the years when Athena was by Byron's side...

Lola was always restless.

Especially after Alivia's dementia set in, she seemed to have no restraints. She wanted to occupy the Crawford Group and become the second Alivia.

On her way to dominance, Byron was the first one she wanted to eliminate.

"Who... Who the hell are you?" Lola realized something was amiss.

Athena looked at her coldly.

"You'll replace out soon enough."

"Alright, calm down. Get in the car and go home," Byron said, his tension easing as he loosened his grip on Athena's hand.

Thea...

She hadn't changed after all.

Just like before, she chose to stand firmly by his side.

"This kind of person doesn't care about mother-child relationships, so you don't have to consider her feelings. If you need to tie her up and throw her out, then do it!" Athena said firmly. Byron smiled and nodded. "Yeah, you're right."

Athena was stunned.

He was such a smooth talker.

Ignoring Lola, Athena got into the car.

After a moment...

She started the engine and drove away.

Byron's face was split by a grin.

"Who is she?" Lola demanded loudly.

"Mom," Byron replied, still not changing the appellation. "You said that I didn't tell you about this because I wanted to steal your so-called maternal love. That's not true." Lola sneered at him.

"I didn't say anything because I knew that after giving birth, you rushed back to work without proper recuperation. That rendered you unable to conceive again," Byron said blandly. "If you knew that I wasn't your child, it would be a huge shock for you. I made a promise to my grandmother that I would never let you know this secret in my lifetime. Even if you tried to crush me for the sake of taking over the Crawford Group, I never wavered in my determination to serve you as your son until the end of my life. I used to truly and sincerely see you as my mother."

Lola's hands shook violently.

"I'll still transfer your maintenance money into your account every month," Byron said as he looked at the bloated woman standing before him in the dimly lit parking lot.

In truth, when he was still young...

His mother had given him some good memories.

When he had a high fever, she would stay with him all night long, comforting him.

And when he fell, she would drop whatever she was doing and run over to pick him up.

Later...

She returned to work at the company, and he was unable to see his parents often. Then he was taken to his grandmother.

Lola and Alivia had a deep-seated grudge.

Even if Byron was the child she had longed for, growing up next to his hateful mother eventually drove them apart.

Fearing that her son would side with Alivia. She had been guarding against him.

These emotions accumulated little by little.

In the end, they were no longer like mother and son.
