(Ashley)

I watched next to Kyle, my mate, as our warriors got ready for the war. Gabriel, his stupid mate, and the pack had no idea when this war was going to happen, and I was ready to take over. Not just take over Gabriel’s pack but the rest of the packs surrounding his. All I needed to do was kill Gabriel and his mate. I was going to do it before, but unfortunately the day I was going to do it, Gabriel met that stupid b***h. I had no idea they were mates at first when I exposed us to her. When I saw that little brat, Tristan, a thought came to my head. He was running towards her while we were having a ‘friendly hand to hand combat’. I chuckle thinking about it. To me it was nothing but friendly. I wanted to get rid of her so I could do what I was supposed to do and that was to kill Tristan to weaken Gabriel and then kill Gabriel, but that b***h saved Tristan again, but this time from me.

But it wasn’t going to happen again, this time. Instead of working from the shadows like I had been before, I’m working next to my mate and the rogues. I heard about the human, Gabriel’s mate becoming a high priestess, and a lot of dark witches weren’t happy about it. They wanted Ana dead so they could have a chance of taking over other covens, but now they also wanted Yashira dead. So, I decided to also use them. I got help from the dark witches and warlocks to replace the hunters. Come to replace out they already had their eyes on her ever since they saw her in an underground fight with a male rogue and she knocked a guy twice her size out.

After talking to the hunters, I helped them gain access to the waterfall without the warriors knowing about it. It wasn’t easy but they did it. During that time, I was invited to watch as they slowly broke her to become one of their assassins. I began to make plans with the hunters so I could also use his assassins to kill those who didn’t want to kneel before me and my mate, but little did I know that the freak was just playing along and that she was not breaking. I sighed deeply and looked at Zander. He was the only Hunter leader to survive. The other two leaders were killed by Yashira.

“Are the other assassins ready?” I asked Zander, his bald head shinning in the sun.

“Yes, and ten assassins are ready. They’ll have no idea what hit them”, Zander said. I smirked, looking at everyone who was ready, and I knew the time had come. I looked at my mate, who smiled lovingly at me. I pushed up my tippy toes and pecked my mate on his lips.

“Alright everyone. Let’s move out” my voice boomed, and everyone began to follow my mate, Zander and me. The time has come to claim what was once promised to me only to be snatched away. Now I will take it forcefully along with other packs.

I looked at my phone and saw that we had thirty minutes until eight. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I kissed my daughter and hugged her before handing her to Gabriel. He was watching me the whole time. He took our daughter and then I picked Tristan up. He wrapped his little arms around my neck, burring his face in the crook of my neck. I looked around to see warriors doing the same thing we were. Kissing their mates and children. I pulled back from Tristan and made sure he looked at me.

“My sweet boy” I smiled, running the tips of my fingers gently and lovingly down his face.

“Be good for your grandmother and Nana. Look after your sister too, okay?” I said after he ran his little fingers down my face.

“Okay mommy” he whimpered. He’s a smart boy for four years old.

“Are you going to come back?” he asks. I looked at him to see his eyes were blurred with unshed tears. I didn’t want to lie to him because I had no idea what was going to happen, but I knew that to keep him calm I had to.

“I’ll come back, my sweet boy, and so will daddy” I said to him. He nodded and hugged me again, but deep down I felt guilty for lying to our son because, even though I’m the high priestess, I’m still discovering my powers and I’m not immortal. Grandma takes Raguel, Charlotte takes Haily from Joel. Rhonda, who we just found out is pregnant, takes Tristan by the hand.

“Alright Forrest Pack, I want all the elderly, children, pregnant women and those who cannot fight to head to the bunkers. Victor, Federick, and Jon, you are to guard the bunkers. Anyone who is not us… you know what to do”, Gabriel said in his Alpha voice.

“Yes, Alpha” Victor, Federick, and Jon said in unison.

“Everyone else, to your position”, Gabriel said in his Alpha voice. I went to walk away from him, but he stopped me.

“I want you close to me babe” he said.

“I need to get the potion from the office. I’ll meet you at the training grounds”, I told him. I pecked his lips and ran to the office. I grabbed the potion. I went to run out when I heard a familiar voice say, ‘trust in yourself.’

“Ana?” I called, looking around, but she wasn’t there. Then I heard it again, ‘Trust in yourself.’ I took a deep breath before running out of the office to the training grounds. Gabriel was already talking to the others, who looked ready. I spotted Joel, Donovan, Mitch, and Andy. As soon as they saw me, they rushed to my side. When Gabriel stopped talking, everyone looked at me.

“Alright, I want everyone to take their positions. Gabriel and I will go check by the borders. Andy, Donovan, Mitch, and Joel, be ready because as soon as they cross our borders I will say the words and I need you to quickly move the rogues. Friends and families remember what I said earlier this morning. Those who are starting with a weapon, I want you close to a pack member in wolf form. We protect each other. I believe in all of you. Now let’s get to our positions and try not to get hurt or worse… killed” I said, looking around, to everyone who nodded and got a chorus back of ‘yes, Luna’, but there was something inside me who was telling something else.

“One more thing… goddess forbid that one of us die… I want someone to link me and let me know who has fallen and where” I said in my Luna, voice which made everyone look around in confusion, but none the less answered with a ‘Yes, Luna.’

“Alright, let’s get going” I said. Gabriel shifted to his wolf and got down so I could climb on. As soon as I was on top, I held on tight, and we took off to the South border.

‘Why did you tell them to let you know when and where if there’s a fallen warrior?’ Gabriel asks through our link. I decided to tell him about what happened in the office.

‘When I went to go get the potion, I heard a voice say, ‘trust in yourself’ and the voice sounded like Ana’s’ I sighed and decided to come clean about something.

‘Ever since I got these powers and I was made a high priestess, one thing I’ve never done was trust in myself. Especially after what happened with the hunters. But hearing Ana’s voice earlier, I realized that if I don’t trust myself, then I can’t trust my powers. Something in me told me to say that to the pack warriors, so I trusted in myself and said it’ I admitted.

‘I trust in you, my love. You should trust in yourself too’ he said, and I couldn’t help but smile. We arrived at the pack border, and I got off of Gabriel. He quickly shifted and put on a pair of shorts. I climbed one of the trees and looked around. At first, I couldn’t see anything, but my senses told me that there were dark witches around. Gabriel climbed behind me before taking the spot next to me.

‘There are dark witches around. I’m going to cloak us, which will also conceal our scent’, I said through our link.

“Pallium vetus” I whispered. My eyes shifted to those of my high priestess and I looked around. That’s when I spotted them. I couldn’t help but gasp at how many people they had.

‘What is it?’ he asks. Took Gabriel’s hand and let him see what I was seeing through my eyes. He gasped, not expecting me to do that.

‘There were around a hundred and fifty, maybe two hundred warriors’, my mate linked me, and I nodded.

“We have all your loved ones. If you back out now, I will kill them all”, I heard Ashley say. They were the same words she said in my dream. I turned to see Ashley, who made my mate growl menacingly over our bond. Beside her stood a male with dirty blonde, short, curly hair, and black eyes.

‘Beside her is her mate. The Alpha Rogue’ I said through our link. I see my mate’s eyes focus on Ashley’s mate.

‘Is everything okay?’ I asked my mate.

‘I can’t help but feel like I know Ashley’s mate. I just don’t know from where’, my mate admits, and I nod.

“I’m sure they remember my love. Something tells me they wouldn’t dare turn their backs on us”, Ashley’s mate says. I looked at all the rogues and I could see those who were pained, knowing that their families’ lives were on the line.

“I know, my Alpha, but sometimes you have to remind them” she growled towards the other rogues.

“I love you, my Luna”, Ashley’s mate said before kissing her. I felt like throwing up. This is sick, but I wasn’t surprised. From what I’ve seen, Ashley has always been power and money hungry.

“I want to be the one to kill that human b***h who wants to be a high priestess. You can have Gabriel and after we take over this pack we can go to the surrounding packs and take over as well. We kill anyone who doesn’t bow down to us, including the children”, Ashley cackled. This woman really did have some major issues.

‘What are those black smoking figures’ he asked.

‘Those are dark witches and warlocks’ I replied. As they got closer, I could see a soft blue light coming from some of the rogues.

‘Do you see what I’m seeing?’ I asked Gabriel.

‘Yes’ he replied.

‘The blue lights are the rogues being forced’, I linked to my mate. I let go of his hand and took the potion out of my pocket. I opened the bottle and downed the contents. I couldn’t help but make a face at the taste. It was gross. I made sure to look at each rogue that I knew was being forced to do this.

‘Let’s go’ I said to Gabriel as I began to climb down. He took off his shorts and shifted to his massive wolf. I got on him and we took off back to the training ground. As soon as we arrived at the training grounds, I could see everyone was ready. I took the cloaking spell off Gabriel and me as soon as we arrived. I couldn’t help but look at the sky and send a little prayer to the moon goddess and the vampire god’s granddaughter.

‘Lacey, if something happens to Gabriel and me please make sure our kids are the same and in good hands. Or if something happens to me please talk, try and give Gabriel another chance at love. He deserves to be happy, but makes sure that this person will love our kids the way I love them both’. I looked out at everyone until my eyes landed on Donovan, Mitch, Andy, and Joel.

“Get ready. It’s time” I said loudly for everyone to hear. I could feel the dark warlocks and witches getting closer and, by the way my coven stood, I knew they felt it too.

“They’re here” Blair said from my far right. I felt the electricity inside me begin to swirl as well as a bad feeling in my gut. Why am I getting this bad feeling now? Why didn’t I get it before? A growl leaves Gabriel’s lips as Ashley’s form becomes visible.
