My Surprise Mate -
Part 2: Chapter 3
"Try to get some rest, princess. No telling what is in store for us," Blaze whispered
I had no idea how he was able to stay so calm. was a complete mess, or at least I felt like it.I curledup on the cold floor next to his feet and closed my eyes.
"Blaze?" I whispered, "Yeah."
"Do you think we will be able to make it until Dad replaces us?"
"Yes.We will be fine, but Kyra, I plan on getting you out before then.Just be strong for me.”
His voice held nothing but confidence when he spoke, faith I wish I could say I had.
This whole ordeal has shown me that I wouldn't be a good alpha.
As soon as I get home, if I get home, the first thing I am going to do is make sure dad knows thatZane needs to take his place.
Zane might be my little brother, but he acts more like my big brother. He is mature and responsible, caring, and a great leader.
Zane is so much like dad, and I know he would have been able to stay calm and confident if he werein this situation. He would know what to do.
I woke to the cell door slamming against the wall and Blaze growling slowly.
"Rise and shine, princess!" Devin shouted as he banged the bars on the door he had just flung open. This time, I stood up more easily, "Hmm, looks like the wolfsbane is wearing off; that's good foryou. You should be able to shift then.Unfortunately, it isn't good for your little boyfriend here.wedon't want him getting his positioned myself in front of Blaze, who was still chained like a wildanimal.”
"Kyra, move.l'll be fine.”
I tried to get my eyes to focus and saw Devin as he stood up, "Next time you pull a stunt like that, Iwon't just beat your little boyfriend; I'll rip his throat out.”
Devin kicked me Babe, don't go to sleep! I need you to stay awake!"
I heard Blaze shouting at me, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open no matter how hard I tried.
"I'm sorry, Blaze,” I whispered, or at least tried to whisper.
I let the darkness take over me as I listened to Blaze plead with me, but I could not ease his mind orpain. How useless am I, I thought to myself as I slipped off.I tried to open my eyes as a soft voicecalled to me, "Don’t push yourself, dear, just listen.”
I relaxed at her words as I focused on her voice, “I am the moon goddess, do not be afraid.”
My heart rate spiked as I processed what she said.Oh my god! I'm dead, and now Blaze is stuck withthat mad man all by himself.
I heard the woman giggle softly, "You are not dead, dear. You were hit in the back of the head andthen stabbed with a silver knife. Thankfully silver will never be deadly to you.But I wanted to talk toyou.l don't have long, but you are the one the prophecy speaks of. When the time is right, you willshift.Until then, be patient, though it will be hard for you.You will have to witness things that willhappen, but know that it will not last forever.Stay strong and know you are the key to uniting thespecies, the way they should have always been."
I had so many questions for her, but I couldn't talk.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get even a tiny sound out.So, I let the silence surround meonce again.
"Kyra...please wake up..." I heard Blaze's voice break the silence
"Please, baby, I need you to be okay."
The sound of his voice cracking broke my heart.
Never, in my whole besides being strong and confident. And I was the reason for his pain now.
"I'm okay" I whispered, my voice hoarse.
"Don't try to talk, babe.l just needed to know you were okay." I could hear the relief in his voice."They cleaned your arm and wrapped gauze around it. How does it feel?" he questioned.
I slowly moved my arm around, "It's a little sore, but nothing unbearable. How long was I out?" Iasked him.
Blaze sighed, "Just one day.l heard Devin and Trey talking. He plans to beat me in front of you andsaid he would withhold meals if you still didn’t cooperate.”
I sat up slowly, keeping my eyes closed until the spinning stopped.
"I know I promised Blaze, but I can't sit by and let them do this to you.I'm going to agree toanything he wants. It's the only way to keep us safe."
Before I even said it, I knew that Blaze would disagree with me, but I wasn't prepared for his anger."You.Will.Not!" he yelled at me.
"You are royal, and royals don't bend to the will of others! You can do this, Kyra! I told you not toworry about me; I can handle anything they throw at me." His eyes bore into me as he spoke.
I had seen Blaze mad; hell, I had seen him fight, but never had his anger been directed at me; and ithurt.A tear slipped from my eye, "I'm sorry, Kyra. You just can't give up ...not yet.If it gets to be toomuch, I will tell you, okay? Then you can give up if you still want to."
Blaze's expression had softened, and I understood he was just trying to get through to me.
In the only way he knew how.He was trying to encourage me to keep fighting against
