Mysterious Little Wife
Chapter 42 Don’t Mess With Me!

By the time Lacey arrived in South City, it was already past nine in the evening.

She didn't even have time to rest before rushing to the hospital.

"Auntie." Lacey had just run out into the corridor when she saw Alina's mother sitting there.

Mrs. Saunders rose to her feet as soon as she saw her. "Lacey," she said.

"Auntie, where has Alina gone? How is she doing now?" Lacey was trembling.

Mrs. Saunders couldn't help but burst into tears. "The surgery's ended, but she hasn't awakened yet."

Lacey's heart skipped a beat as she asked, "What do you mean? What exactly happened?"

Mrs. Saunders wiped away her tears and explained, "Hooligans came to wreak havoc on our place. You know Alina. She isn't the type to sit around and do nothing. She confronted those people and got hit on the head with a stick."

Lacey asked, "What place? Is it the place where you sell fruit?"

"Yes. We were told that the property had been purchased. However, before we, the merchants, could sign the papers, those people arrived with hooligans and forcibly demolished the place. All our fruits were smashed. Alina's father is there now to keep watch!"

"Why didn't you guys call the police?" Lacey asked in a hurried tone.

Mrs. Saunders shook her head. "How could the police have been unaware of this incident? After all, they did it in broad daylight!" She wiped away her tears. "They colluded!"

Frowning, Lacey asked, "Who is it? Who purchased the property? Who on earth is that capable?"

Mrs. Saunders opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she didn't.

Lacey frowned even more. Mrs. Saunders' expression caught her eye. "Is it someone I know?"

Mrs. Saunders remained silent. Her expression was tense.

Lacey took Mrs. Saunders' hand in hers. "Tell me, who is it?" She asked.

Mrs. Saunders raised her head. A glint crossed her eyes as she answered, "It's your father!"

Lacey took a deep breath. "Bailey?"

"He's the one who wanted to buy the property?" Astonishment washed over her.

"Yes." Mrs. Saunders's tears fell again. "Lacey, you know that Alina's father's legs have always been disabled, and he is relying on selling fruits to survive. How could they tear the place down? How are we going to live now? Alina was enraged. She dialed your father on the landline of your villa in the hope that he would reconsider or give us a break. But your father="

Mrs. Saunders couldn't go on.

Still, Lacey already knew how the story would end.

Bailey had shown no concern for her or Maria's well-being, let alone Alina, with whom he had no relationship.

"Auntie, just you wait. I will return you justice."With that, Lacey grabbed her bag and strode out without looking back.

"Where are you going, Lacey?" Mrs. Saunders yelled.

Lacey turned her head and shouted back, "If Alina woke up, tell her to wait for me. I'll come over!"

She dashed away, leaving those words behind.

She didn't care how much her father abused her.

Alina, on the other hand, was her only friend.

Alina's family had been extremely supportive over the years. Lacey and her mother would not have survived without them.

This time, it was her turn to protect them!

Meanwhile, back at Carter's house.

As soon as Lacey returned to the villa, Aunty Mya opened the door.

She looked at Lacey and frowned. "Ms. Carter?"

Lacey was still dressed in the branded dress bought by Theo. As a result, Aunty Mya was unsure if the woman in front of her was Lillianna.

Lacey didn't want to waste time on Aunty Mya. She ignored her and went straight to the hall.

Instead of seeing Bailey in the living room, she noticed several wealthy ladies chatting with Madeleine.

Lacey gave her a cold look and walked right in.

The wealthy ladies exchanged glances and then looked at Madeleine blankly.

"This is Lacey. Lillianna and Mr. Garrison are on holiday," Madeline explained hastily.

The wealthy ladies nodded with an expression of understanding.

When Lacey walked in, she found Bailey playing poker with three men of his age.

"Hey, Lillianna." One of the middle-aged men noticed her. He smiled and called out.

Lacey had no idea who he was. She didn't respond.

When Bailey turned around and saw the coldness in her eyes, that was when he realized she wasn't Lillianna but Lacey. He asked with a frown, "Didn't you go on vacation with Lillianna? Why are you back so soon?"

"I'd like to speak with you about something!" Lacey's tone was as cold as an iceberg.

The other three men at the table were startled. They looked at Bailey in perplexity.

"If you have something to say, say it here. These are your uncles. There's nothing to hide!" Bailey said indifferently.

Lacey got right to the point, just as he had wished. "Did you purchase the eastern suburbs of South City?"

Bailey drew a poker card and asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

"You bought the property so suddenly. They weren't ready for it. Besides, how can you forcefully demolish the place? Do you know that my friend is still in a coma because of those hooligans!" Lacey yelled. Bailey frowned.

He looked over at Lacey, standing off to the side. "When is it your turn to criticize me?" He grumbled. His voice suddenly became loud. "Furthermore, those people are greedy. Is your friend trying to blackmail you?"

Lacey retorted, "Do the poor have no self-respect at all to you, and all that's left in their eyes is money? Do you know how long they've been there and how much effort they've put into the business? You demolish the place without even giving them a chance! You're pushing them to a dead end!"

"You're Lacey, aren't you? Didn't your father do this for the Carter family and your future?" One of the men said hastily.

"That's right. Lacey, you should stop hanging out with those country bumpkins now that your father has brought you back. You should learn how to be a socialite!" Another man chimed in.

Lacey ignored them. Instead, she turned to Bailey and said, "I want you to stop this immediately. Even if you want to buy it, they haven't signed the papers yet. It's illegal for you to demolish the building!" "Pop!" Bailey slammed the poker cards down on the table. Then he turned to Lacey and growled. "Did you say it was illegal?"

Lacey stared at the man, unafraid. "If you're interested in buying the property, you're welcome to talk to them about it. However, what you are doing is no different from banditry. Is it true that you can only do business by force?"

The people at the table couldn't help but look at Bailey and then at his rebellious daughter.

They all couldn't help but shake their heads.

Bailey was overwhelmed with embarrassment.

"I dare you to say it again!" He exclaimed.

"I said you should apologize and compensate them!" Lacey screamed.

With great rage, Bailey slapped Lacey hard until she fell to the ground.

"Bailey, take a deep breath. Why don't you both talk it out?" The three men rushed to their feet.

Several women in the living room who had heard the noise rushed over as well.

Lacey's face turned red and swollen. Yet, as if nothing was wrong, she stood up again and stared fearlessly at Bailey. I want you to apologize and give them the maximum compensation."

Bailey was so enraged at this point that he was trembling all over. "Aunty Mya! Aunty Mya! Bring me the whip!"

Aunty Mya instantly smiled. "Yes, Old Master."

"Hey, relax, Bailey. Don't hit her!" The three men hastened to advise.

"I think Bailey's doing the right thing. Isn't education nowadays all about filial piety? If he doesn't teach her properly, she might end up embarrassing the Carters in the future!" One of the wealthy madams said. "That's right. I believe she deserves some whipping!" The other woman giggled. She ruffled her beautiful hair as if watching a good show.

Meanwhile, Madeleine remained quiet. The corners of her mouth, however, couldn't help but smile.

Aunty Mya soon arrived with the whip.

Lacey's eyes were dull. Then she laughed sarcastically. "You want to hit me again, don't you?"

Bailey remained silent. "Are you going to behave?" He asked, staring at her.

"I want you to apologize and compensate them!" Lacey shrieked.

"Crack!" The whip lashed out.

Lacey's clothes were ripped apart.

"I demand that you apologize and compensate them!" Her tone had become even more resolute.

"Crack! Crack! Crack!" Whip after whip landed on her body, causing her to collapse to the ground. Despite this, it did not stop.

Whip after whip, they were ruthless and decisive.

It was as if she were a foe.

"Hey, stop it, Bailey." One of the men couldn't take it anymore.

The wealthy ladies frowned as well. Wasn't that a little harsh?

"Are you going to behave now?" Bailey's hands were trembling with rage.

Lacey's expensive dress had been ripped open, and there were traces of blood on her skin.

Lacey propped her hands on the floor. Her messy hair was scattered on her face. She suddenly looked up and smiled, saying, "If you don't kill me today, I might reveal the secret!" Bailey's eyes widened.

Others exchanged glances. What secret?

"Okay, everyone, come here now. Don't just stand there. Please accept my apologies for the commotion!" Madeleine dragged everyone into the living room.

She was afraid that Lacey would reveal the secret.

As a result, only Bailey and Lacey remained on the scene.

"Are you trying to threaten me?" Bailey's eyes grew red. "How could I possibly be threatened?"

No sooner had he said that than he gave her another vicious whip.

"I will beat you to death today, and no one will say anything about it!" The whip struck her once more.

Lacey grabbed the blood-splattered whip. Her eyes were blood red at the moment.

"Bailey, you either beat me to death or let the Carters suffer the consequences of deceiving the Garrisons!"

Bailey took a step back when he heard that.

Gradually, Lacey rose to her feet. Despite looking, wrecked, she remained an arrogant smile on her face.

She fixed her gaze on him and leaned forward slightly. "No one can threaten me anymore, Bailey."

Her eyes were as dark as a graveyard. "Don't mess with me, or else we'll both die!"

It was a moment of shock for Bailey.

Meanwhile, Madeleine had just returned from sending everyone away. She dashed over and happened to overhear Lacey's final sentence. "Honey!" Madeleine took hold of Bailey's trembling arm. "She's just like her mother, constantly threatening others!

Bailey was utterly enraged at this point.

"Shut the door. I'm going to teach such an unfilial daughter a lesson today. I want to see if you can still talk after you become disabled!"

As soon as he finished his words, he raised the whip.

Then, he flung it down hard.00000
