Mysterious Little Wife
Chapter 50 Don’t You Think She Needs to See a Psychiatrist?

"Lacey, why are you here alone? Did you come to visit your mother?"

"Lacey, I'm glad you could come. Lillianna said that you couldn't come because you had things to do. Luckily, I went and asked your father, and he told you to come right away!"

"Lacey, it's been a busy day. Even my parents came to celebrate Aunty Tilly's birthday."

"Lacey, do you suppose Sam will be announcing his and Lillianna's wedding date today?"

All along the way, Theo talked nonstop.

Lacey would mostly just nod and reply faintly.

The truth was, she paid no attention to what Theo was saying.

Her mind didn't seem to have calmed down from the story she had just told.

Why was Maria framed and her virginity taken away?

Who was that so-called "friend"?

Maria's social standing was not poor at the time. She was considered a prestigious wealthy young lady in South City.

Not to mention, Bailey was her bodyguard.

Logically speaking, she should have been perfectly safe.

Hence, how did the incidence occur?

After the incident, where did her so-called "friend" go?

Lacey clasped her hands uneasily.

A terrible feeling of realization dawned on her at that moment.

Could it be that Bailey was behind all this?

After all, Bailey was just a bodyguard. He couldn't be married to Maria.

The only way he could marry Maria was to drag her into such a disaster!

"Lacey! Lacey!" Theo called out to her in a loud voice.

"Huh?" Lacey took a slight pause before returning to her senses.

"We're here. Why have you been distracted the whole way?" Theo frowned. "Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Lacey gazed at him, then out the window at the exquisite villa. How eye-catching.

They arrived at the Garrison's house!

"No, no. I got up a little too early in the morning and didn't get much sleep. Anyway, we've arrived. Let's leave the car!" Lacey smiled and pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind. Theo smiled. "All right, let's go!"

The lobby of the Garrison was enormous. The entire place was decorated with the most beautiful flowers.

Flowers, wine, desserts, and air-freighted seafood adorned each long table.

Everything screamed expensive.

More than 20 waiters shuttled back and forth to ensure that each guest had the most excellent experience possible.

Furthermore, Alvaro invited the most well-known pianist in South City.

As soon as guests entered the venue, they'd be greeted with the most pleasant atmosphere.

No wonder he was the richest man in South City. Such spectacle was probably more grand than the wedding of some second-rate diva.

Meanwhile, Lillianna went up to the third floor to replace Sam after greeting everyone.

Sam was in front of a mirror, putting on a wrinkle-free white shirt handed to him by one of the servants.

His pointed brows, starry eyes, towering nose, thin lips, and flawless facial contours were impeccable.

No matter how many times she looked at him, her heart would race uncontrollably.

Sam stopped buttoning his shirt when there were only three buttons remained on his collar

Such a look of his gave a hint of sensuality in his appearance, and it made Lillianna feel nervous.

"You're here?" Sam shifted his gaze to her.

"Hey " Lillianna blushed. "Aunty Tilly said you got on the plane at three in the morning and didn't get much sleep when you got back to the South City. It must have been exhausting for you." Sam replied, a small smile on his face, "I'm used to it." Then he casually asked, "Is your family here?"

Lillianna was taken aback for a moment before responding with a smile, "Dad and Mum are here. My brother will return from his trip overseas soon. He'll surely attend our next party!" "What about Lacey?" Sam went on to ask.

Lillianna was startled.

Why?

Why did he ask about Lacey?

A somber mood clouded Sam's face as Lillianna didn't respond.

He approached her, his tall figure shrouded in an indescribable chill. "Didn't I tell you that I want your entire family to come?" Sam lifted her chin, unhappy.

Lillianna saw the coldness in his eyes and couldn't help but shiver.

"Lacey left early in the morning. She said she had something important to do today-" She stammered.

"Oh, really?" Sam grinned.

Lillianna hurriedly nodded.

Sam couldn't help but be amused by her anxious look. He then reached out and took her in his arms. "Why are you so nervous? Come on, let's go down." Lillianna's breathing was erratic. She looked sideways at the man's attractive face and wondered what he was thinking.

He went from passionate to cold in a matter of seconds.

The next thing she knew, he was holding her and speaking softly to her, filling her with adoration.

Despite this-

She had an uneasy feeling that something was not quite right.

The two took the elevator up to the first floor.

Lacey?

She came!

Sam noticed Lacey right away.

The man's pupils shrank afterward.

She was sitting next to Theo, and they were happily chatting.

Sam's eyes grew cold as he looked at the two's happy faces.

The scene struck him as piercing for some reason.

"Does it taste good?" Theo handed her the dessert and said with a chuckle, "Do you have any favorite stars? I'll get their autographs for you."

"Will they sign for you?" Lacey asked with confusion.

"Without a doubt! After all, I'm none other than Mr. Henderson!" He beamed.

Lacey smiled. She then began looking through the crowd for Bailey.

"Theo." A sudden call brought Lacey back to her senses.

Looking up, Sam was standing straight in front of her, with an elegant woman at his side.

"Sam." Theo jumped to his feet.

Lacey stood up, too, holding the juice Theo had given her.

"Hey, Sam, Lillianna." The corners of her mouth curled up perfectly, giving her the most charming look.

Sam's dark eyes were locked on her.

There was something subtle about the atmosphere at that moment.

"Sam!" A sudden voice broke the mood just then.

Sophia smiled as she dashed over to Sam. "I went upstairs to look for you, Sam, but you weren't there. Daddy's looking for you!"

"Okay." Sam didn't stay any longer. He gave Lacey a thoughtful look before he left.

"Sophia." Lillianna smiled as she approached her.

Lillianna rolled her eyes. "My mother wants you to go over to her!" She said coldly.

"Aunty Tilly's looking for me? I'll be right over." Although Lillianna wondered why Sophia was giving her the cold shoulder, she pretended not to notice.

After all, Sophia was used to being spoiled. Her moods changed quickly.

"What a hypocrite." Sophia stuck out her tongue at Lillianna. She then turned around and grasped Theo's arm, pouting. "Theo, I've been looking for you for ages. Where have you been?" Chuckled, Theo flicked Sophia's forehead. "You're still as clingy as ever. I'm an adult, after all. Why should I report everything to you?"

Sophia took his arm in hers and shook it. "You're still my dear big brother, no matter how old you are. Accept it!"

Theo smiled and said, "I do want a sweet sister like you." Then he grabbed Lacey, who was about to back away. "Sophia, meet my girlfriend, Lacey."

Sophia's smile froze as she paused.

"What's the matter?" Theo couldn't help but ask after noticing her pause.

"Theo, what did you just say? That she's your girlfriend?" Sophia couldn't believe it.

"Yes! Lacey, meet my cousin, Sophia." Theo dragged Lacey to the front. He said proudly, "She's cute, isn't she?"

Lacey looked at Sophia, then back at Theo. She gave a slight smile but remained silent.

"Um, Theo, I've got something to do. I'm going to leave for a bit. Let's talk later." Sophia bolted from the scene.

"Is it okay to use me as a shield?" Lacey said lightly.

Theo came to a halt and glanced at her. "What do you mean? When have I ever used you as a shield?" He asked, smiling.

Lacey looked up and offered him a careless smile. She then shrugged and walked into the hall without saying anything.

Theo stood dumbfounded.

Then, he hurried to catch up with her.

"Lacey, I'm sorry. I" Theo tried to explain himself.

"It's okay. I'm glad I could help you. After all, you've helped me before." Lacey said before picking up a piece of cake off the table and eating it. "Still-"

She paused slightly before continuing, "Don't you think she needs to see a psychiatrist?"

The way Sophia looked at Theo was unusual.

Her eyes twinkled with delight and shyness. Furthermore, when she found out that Lacey was his girlfriend, she grew astonished and upset.

Lacey was aware of all of her facial expressions.

This was clearly love!

Sophia had a thing for Theo!

Lacey shook her head.

What a strange relationship!

Theo let out a helpless sigh. "I'm not sure how this happened. I've rarely come to Aunt Tilly's house since I learned about Sophia's feelings for me. I thought she'd give up as she got older—"

Lacey lifted her brows and smiled perfunctorily.

Too bad she wasn't interested in their relationship at all.

Even so-

"Since we're friends, if you ever need a shield, I'll be happy to assist you!" She looked at Theo sincerely.

True, she didn't have much of an advantage.

However, she understood that a drop of water in need should be returned with a spring in deed.

Theo grinned. "Why not you be my real girlfriend?"

Lacey threw him a sneer and a sidelong glance before walking away.

Theo scratched his hair helplessly. What was so bad about him?

Why didn't she like him?

"Theo!" Just then, a shout caused Theo, who was about to catch up with Lacey, to stop in his tracks.

"Yes, mum?" He responded.

"Come here." A beautiful woman waved at him.

Theo's gaze drifted away from Lacey and toward his mother. It took a moment of pondering before he decided to walk over.

Meanwhile, Lacey had her juice in her hand as she made her way through the crowd.

Everyone would gaze at her as she walked past them.

This was all because she looked out of place in her clothes.

And, of course, because of that, they recognized her immediately. She was the infamous second daughter of the Carter family!

Lacey, on the other hand, paid no attention to their expressions.

She was busy looking for Bailey and Madeleine.

Where did those two go?

They couldn't have been absent from such an occasion.

Lacey frowned. Could it be that they were outside?

She put down her juice and walked out with that thought in mind.

The Garrisons had a huge backyard. There was a rockery there, as well as a bamboo forest, a fountain, and a pavilion.

However, as it was yet spring, the temperature outside was low.

As a result, few people would stay outside.

There weren't many people in the vast backyard.

Lacey intended to return after walking around the backyard and not replaceing the people she was looking for.

Just then, she heard a strange sound.

Wait a minute-

Was that moaning?☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
