Haru's P.O.V.

"Well, you said it was important. Get on with it." I ordered.

My P.I. is standing in front of my desk at my home study. I've been worried about that bratty grandson of mine. The moment Kenzo took over as CEO of Suzuki Industries, he started to ignore me. All of my guidance seems to have flown right out the window with him. I've recently found out that he's been replacing my employee's with ones of his own. My control is waning, and I don't like it.

"Mr. Suzuki has just made a deal with Prime Makeup. He also replaced the head of the advertising department a few months ago." My P.I. told me.

I clenched my jaw. That's another one replaced. The only ones that are still there are the heads of HR, security, and the accounting department. Although, I'm not sure how much that even mattered to begin with. Ted was never interested in anything I did. I wouldn't call him 'one of my men' exactly. I only hired him because he's good at his job and compliant.

How many more people of mine is Kenzo going to replace? At this rate, I won't know a thing going on in my company. I did not break my back for years building this business in this god-forsaken country, all for that brat to ruin it all. He's turning out to be just like his father.

My son was useless. Ever since he was a child. I thought that I could mold him eventually. Nothing I ever did worked. Eventually, he ran away, giving up a life of luxury for what? That stupid restaurant, and a wh.ore. Pathetic.

Kenzo was much easier to control than his father ever was. Any time he acted out, all I had to do was remind him of his place. Then he would fall back in line. Eventually, he tried to run as well, but I was more prepared this time. Plus, I had another advantage this time. Something Kenzo cared about that I could use against him. His sister Akane.

The only reason I took both of them in was to gain control. It worked for a while. Long enough that I thought Kenzo had finally given up. I was wrong.

All that little sh.it was doing was waiting until he took over for me. Now he's tearing down my empire, and building his own with its foundation. That little prick.

"There was something else that I found interesting." My P.I. said, interrupting my thoughts.

"What?" I asked impatiently.

"Mr. Suzuki has gotten a new secretary. He promoted a young woman who was already working for the company." He told me.

"What the hell does that matter? Kenzo is always blowing through secretaries. Bring me something of use." I ordered.

"Well, this one seems different. He seems... interested in her," he said.

Interested? Romantically?

Now that is interesting. Every since I threatened to use Akane to keep Kenzo in place, he's never dated anyone. He was determined not to care about anyone else. Akane is married now though, to someone unreachable by me. Does Kenzo think he's safe because of that now?

I'll teach that little sh.it.

"Keep an eye on them. Let me know everything. I want all the information you can get on that girl." I ordered.

My P.I. nodded before leaving my office. I leaned back in my chair as I thought about the information. If Kenzo really has fallen for this girl, I'll use that to my advantage. Everyone has secrets. I'll replace hers too.

~ A week later -

*****************

"This is all the information you found on her?" I asked, annoyed.

"For now. I'm still working on some things." My P.I. said.

I waved him off, dismissing him as I flipped through the information. This Opal woman seemed to have a normal enough life. She comes from a very wealthy family, grew up in the Hamptons, and didn't attend college. How was she able to get a job at Suzuki Industries?

A knock sounded at my door.

"Come in," I ordered.

"Sir."

I looked up as one of my personal assistants came in. I don't know his name. I never remember any of them. They don't matter, so why should I care?

"You may leave the papers on my desk, and then go grab me a coffee," I ordered.

I set the file down containing that woman's information. My assistant set down a stack of papers. I saw from the corner of my eye that he hesitated. When I looked up at his face, he was looking at the file. Is that recognition I see?

"Do you know this woman?" I asked.

"No sir." He said, shaking his head.

"What is your name?" I asked him.

The man ground his teeth. There was irritation written all over his face. He must have been working for me for a while now.

"Evan sir." He answered.

"Evan, do you know what I hate more than anything in the world?" I asked.

"No sir." Evan answered, shaking his head.

I smiled.

"Disloyalty. That means I hate it when the people under my payroll lie to me," I said.

Evan gulped.

"So, why don't you tell me how you know this woman," I said, pointing to the picture of Opal.

"Uh.. Well, I, uh, would-"

"Just spit it out. Whatever it is. I hold no warm feelings towards this woman. So tell me what you know." I ordered.

"Well, I tried to pick her up at a club a few weeks back. Things.. didn't work out." He said uncomfortably.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Uhm, she turned me down.." He said,

"And?" I asked.

Evan gave me a nervous look. I leaned my elbows on my desk, and rested my chin on my folded fingers. I gave Evan a broad smile.

"Tell me everything, and I will reward you greatly," I said.

"Well, I, uh, followed her out of the club. She was a bit.ch when she turned me down. I just wanted to give her a little pay back. But she ducked into this store. I waited for her to come out, but she never did. Next thing I know, some a.sshole is wailing on me in the alley. I woke up the next morning still in the alley." Evan said.

Interesting.

"Then I ran into her and that same guy a few days ago at the aquarium. I was there on a date, but once I saw that pretty little thing.. I tried to- Uh.. take her home." He said.

"You tried to kidnap her?" I asked.

"Well, I wouldn't say that." He lied.

Hmm. Perhaps I should do more thorough background checks on my employees. This man is clearly dangerous.

How perfect for me.

"What happened after that?" I asked.

"Well, I ran away before I could get my a.ss kicked again. Haven't seen 'em since," Evan told me.

I leaned back in my chair as a triumphant smile spread across my face.

"What if I told you I could make sure you get some... time with this little bit.ch?" I asked.

Evan smiled wickedly.

"I'd say, how can I help, sir?"

~ Later in the day after meeting Opal for the first time. ~

I walked into my home office and slammed the door shut. That stupid little bit.ch. She really knows how to get under my skin, and she doesn't even know me.

I thought that I could convince Opal to leave Kenzo. I found out that she was disowned by her family, or left, whichever. I thought I could pay her off. But no. Those two really are in love.

When I set Kenzo up with Natasha and the reporters, I knew he would do something drastic. Kenzo has been mouthy, and blatantly ignoring me. He thinks he can win a game against me? Think again, little bas.tard.

I only set that fake engagement up to see how Kenzo would react. If Opal ended up leaving him, then my job was as good as done. I didn't expect him to tell me they were engaged. So much for that fu.cking plan. Did I raise that little sh.it to be more cunning than I thought?

Those two aren't fooling anyone though. I know that the engagement was sprung on Opal the same it was sprung on me. You could see it on her face. She had no idea. That was why I asked to speak with her alone. Unfortunately for me, it seems Opal is a loyal bit.ch if nothing else. No matter how much money I offered her, she refused me. Their engagement might be for show for me, but they are in love. Disgusting.

The only good thing that came from that little encounter was the fact that I could use Opal against Kenzo. If she would have just taken my money. If Kenzo would have just done what I ordered. Then none of these future plans of mine would take place. How tragic. "Sir."

I looked up to see my P.I.

"You should have knocked." I gritted out.

"I did sir. You weren't answering," he said.

"Then you should have left," I said snidely.

"I apologize, sir, but I have some more information on the woman. You told me you wanted to know everything right away, no matter how mundane." He said,

I did say that.

"Very well," I said as I sat down in my chair.

My P.I. handed me a file. I opened it and read over the contents. This.. is very interesting.

"She's adopted?" I asked.

"Seems so. Someone went to great lengths to hide it. It was difficult to get the records," he said.

"Why was it so secret?" I asked.

"Probably due to the fact of who the father is," he said.

Father: Gregory McFairly.

"The famous singer?" I asked.

My P.I. nodded.

"He died in a car accident a year after Opal was born." He told me.

"I assume he left her a large sum of money," I muttered.

"Well, it seems that way sir, but I doubt Opal has seen a dime of that money." He said.

I looked up at him.

"It appears that the Evans family has taken her inheritance without her knowledge," he said.

It must be easy for a judge to get away with that.

"How much did he leave her?" I asked.

"Close to five million dollars," he answered.

"And they took all of it?" I asked.

"Yes sir." My P.I. answered.

Hmmm. Very interesting. I could have a lot of fun with this information. Fun that wouldn't ruin my future plans at all.

"Get me the phone number of Judge Evans. We're going to have a party."
