Kenzo's P.O.V.

************

Opal and I have been back home for a week now. So far, there haven't been any new pictures of Opal and I. Which makes me think that Opal's stalker has no idea where I live. Either that or he can't get into the building. Either way, I'm happy she's safe. Jane has tried to call Opal a few different times. At least once a day. She's always using the excuse that she feels bad. Which is a load of sh.it.

Sometimes Opal answers, sometimes she doesn't. Opal is trying to act like she believes Jane has really changed. She says that if we are fooling Jane, we are fooling Haru.

Who would have guessed that my kitten would be so cunning?

I've been letting Opal handle things the way she wants. Of course, I keep my eye on her. I just don't want her to do something that will hurt her more in the end. It's my job to protect her.

I'm only letting Opal handle things her way, because I've been handling things my own way. Jack has been feeding me information every day. The reason we haven't been able to replace out Opal was adopted is because the records are sealed. Which strikes me as odd. It's not like they had a closed adoption. Opal's mother died.

Jack still hasn't been able to get his hands on the documents though. It's only a matter of time. I just have to be patient.

There is no new news about Opal's stalker. As far as that guard I hired.. he never saw a thing. I know the man has to sleep, eat, and sh.it, but what the fu.ck was I paying him for?

That infuriates me. How am I supposed to let Opal have her own life if I can't figure out who is after her? She may like being stuck at my side for now, but.. I'm sure it wont be like that forever. There will come a day when she wants to do things on her own. Until then, I need to figure out who's after her.

As for Haru, well, Jack has been watching him himself. Haru has his own P.I. apparently. He visits Haru every couple of days or so, but we have nothing on him yet either.

My phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. I grabbed it from my pocket to see that it was Jack. I kissed Opal's head before standing up and walking onto the balcony. "Tell me you have good news," I answered.

"Well, I have news. Whether it's good or bad is up to you," Jack replied.

I frowned.

"What the hell does that mean?" I asked.

Jack went silent for a moment.

"I found out who Opal's father was," he said.

I looked behind me to make sure Opal was still watching TV and not me.

"Who is he?" I asked.

"His name was Greory McFairly," Jack told me.

I sighed.

"Was?" I asked.

"Yeah.." Jack said. "He's dead."

Sh.it.

"Why does that name sound so familiar?" I asked.

"He was a famous singer back in the day. Did a lot of soft rock-type music. Apparently, he died in a car crash a year after Opal was born, on Opal's birthday. He was on his way to see his family when one of his crazy psycho fans ran into him head on. According to the news report, she was in love with him and wanted them to die together. Gregory died instantly." He told me.

"And the woman?" I asked.

"She lived. Was pretty banged up. I assumed she got arrested after. I'm still waiting for the information," Jack said.

I sighed as I ran a hand through my hair. Then I looked back at Opal. She's completely unbothered as she watches TV. I hate that I have to tell her that another parent she never got to know is gone forever.

There is no one here to tell her about her father like with her mother. How is Opal going to handle this? Is she going to be worse?

I just got Opal to start eating again, to start feeling better all around.

"There is something else," Jack said.

"What?" I asked.

"I found out why the records were sealed," he said.

"And?" I asked impatiently.

"It seems that Gregory left his only daughter a large sum of money. Opal's mother held onto it for her, probably planning to wait until she grew up to give it to her. That money all went to Opal's adoptive parents." Jack said. "Tell me Zo, does Opal have a lot of money?" He asked.

I gripped my phone tighter.

"How much did they take?" I asked.

"Take? Are you sure that Opal-"

"How. Much. Did. They. Take?" I interrupted.

"Apparently all of it. Unless Opal has a few million dollars lying around," Jack said.

"A few million?" I asked.

"Gregory left his daughter almost five million dollars." He told me.

Those fu.cking bas.tards. That's why they took Opal. That must be what Haru has on them to make them act the way they are now. If anyone replaces out that James and Jane took that money, and Opal didn't see a dime.. That's fraud.

"Do you have proof?" I asked.

"I can get bank statements." Jack said casually.

"Do it." I ordered.

"Kay." He replied.

"Five million dollars is a lot for a soft rock singer. How famous was he?" I asked.

"Well.. that's the thing. I thought that was strange as well. I mean, yeah the man had money, but five million dollars? There were no homes listed, no business investments, nothing else. Just the money. So, I looked into him before calling you." Jack told me. "And?" I pushed.

"And I found out that Gregory McFairly is really Gregory McGrath," he said.

My eyes went wide. There's no way. That's... not what I was expecting to hear at all.

"Are you telling me that my fiance's grandfather is Mack McGrath?" I seethed lowly. Jack chuckled.

"That's right CEO. Your little kitten is an heir to the Irish Mafia, and I know exactly where her grandfather is right now."

*******

I walked back inside after finishing up with Jack. I'm still struggling to take in the information. Mack must not have known about his granddaughter. No way in hell he would have let her aunt and uncle steal all of that money. Especially since over half of it came from the family.

I've met Mack one time in my life. Shortly after, I became CEO of Suzuki Industries. He set up a meeting with me and wanted to do business together. He said that he tried to make a deal with Haru, but he couldn't stand the old man. After I took over, he tried again. Unfortunately for Mack, I wasn't interested in doing anything illegal. If Haru ever found out, there would be no way I would ever get out from under his thumb. I think Mack suspected that, and tried to offer me protection. I refused all advances, and that was that. What a fu.cking small world?

Jack told me where Mack likes to hang out. He should be there right now too. I want to go see him, but I don't want to tell Opal. I don't trust them to be around my kitten. Not yet. I want to meet with him first.

I asked Jack to come with me, but he said that he was currently watching Haru. Apparently, the family home has been bussling today. So I texted Jenson and Beck.

Now I just need to figure out how to get Opal to stay here.

"Hey honey, can I ask you a favor? A really big one." Opal said when I sat back on the couch.

"You can ask me for anything, my love." I told her.

Opal fiddled with her hands in her lap as she chewed on her bottom lip.

"Can I go hang out with Kendra and Marc? I haven't seen them since we got back from the Hamptons. Kendra just texted me and wants me to go out for drinks." She rushed out.

How perfect.

"Can they come here instead? I have to step out for a bit. I have some business to handle," I said.

Opal pouted.

"We wanted to go out and drink." She whined.

"What if I hired you a personal bartender for the night?" I offered.

Opal gave me an incredulous look.

"I'll just have them pick stuff up on their way here." She grumbled.

I chuckled at her.

"I'll leave my card here. Use it." I ordered.

"I already told you-"

"Think of it as a punishment, towards me then." I interrupted.

Opal bit down on her lip as she thought it over.

"Fine, but I am ordering food from the most expensive place."

******

"Are you going to tell us what's going on, or why we're on this side of town?" Beck asked from the passenger seat.

I just parked outside of the small diner that Mack likes to hang out at. I haven't told either of them what we are up to. I think, given recent events, that Jenson is prepared for something bloody. Beck, however, isn't sure what's going on at all. "We're here to have a chat with Opal's grandfather. Her real one." I said.

Beck whipped his head at me.

"You found some of her family?" He asked.

"Here I thought we were gonna beat that rich boy up again." Jenson grumbled from the back.

"I did replace her family, and things might.. get intense." I said.

"Why? Who's her grandfather?" Jenson asked.

"Can't be worse than yours, right Zo?" Beck teased.

I gave him a serious look.

"Damn, who is he?" Beck asked.

"Mack McGrath," I stated.

"Whoa, I think I might be out Zo." Jenson said. "I didn't sign up to get on the mafia's badside."

"I just want to talk with him. I have a feeling that he has no idea about Opal," I said.

"Why?" Beck asked.

"Because Mafia families are usually very family oriented. I don't know what happened between Mack and his son, but I'm sure he has no idea about Opal," I said.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Beck asked. "Let's go."

The three of us got out of the car. We walked into the diner confidently. a waitress greeted us, but my eyes connected with the one and only Mack McGrath.

Mack smirked at me. He gave a nod with his head and three of his men stood up. I ignored the waitress as I walked over to Mack's table.

"Well, if it isn't Kenzo Suzuki," he said. "Finally decided to do business with me?"

"No." I said.

"Then what are you doing here, on my turf?" He asked.

I looked at the men that Mack surrounds himself with. They all look dangerous. Am I really willing to let Opal into this mess?

"I want to know about someone," I said.

"Who?" Mack asked as he cut into his steak.

"Gregory McFairly," I stated.

Mack paused. The air around us grew tense. I kept my eyes on Mack. He looked up at me looking pissed off.

"What the fu.ck do you want to know about my son for?" He asked.

"Did your son have any children?" I asked.

Mack laughed.

"If my son had any kids, I'd know about it. Greg may not have wanted to be involved in the family business, but we were still close. I might not look it, but I wanted my son to be happy," he said.

"I mean no disrespect, Mack, but I don't believe you," I stated.

Mack looked at me angrily.

"I need to know if there was ever a time that you two weren't talking," I said.

"Why?" Mack asked.

"I can pay you for information. $500,000," I said.

Mack laughed.

"That's pocket change for me," he said.

"Then I'll give you something else." I said. "But I want the information first," I said.

Mack set his silverware down and inspected me for a moment.

"Alright little Suzuki, I'll bite." He said. "About 28 years ago Greg went MIA to us. He still called, but he stopped coming around. I chalked it up to him seeing a new girl. He was always ashamed of his family and what we did. However, he could never disown us completely. It didn't help that he was in the limelight, and it was best if we were seen together less and less. We changed his last name for a reason," Mack told me.

That sounds about when Opal was born, or they found out they were pregnant.

"The day that he died he was on his way here. He said he had something important to tell me. Something that he had been keeping from me for a year. Greg said he felt bad, and had to come clean. Family is everything, after all. That was the last I heard from him. I never got to know what it was he wanted to say." Mack said sadly.

Gregory must have wanted to tell him about Opal. That's the only thing that makes sense. I wonder if he didn't get the chance to tell Opals's mother. Or maybe she didn't want Opal in this life?

"Now, it's your turn," Mack said. "Why do you want to know about my son?"

"I think I know what he wanted to tell you," I said.

Mack frowned.

"What could you possibly know?" He asked,

I pulled out my phone, and pulled up a picture of Opal. I put my phone on the table, and slid it to him. Mack picked up and raised a brow at me.

"This is Opal. She is my fiance." I said.

"Congratulations," Mack said as he tossed my phone back on the table.

"She is also your son's daughter," I stated.

Mack froze. His eyes snapped at me. I kept my face serious.

"What?" Mack asked.

"Opal recently found out that she's adopted. We've been looking into her biological parents lately. Your son was her father. Her mother's sister adopted Opal when she was only two, after her mother died." I told him. Mack just stared at me.

I scoffed as I snatched my phone up. He must not believe me. Fu.cking figures.

"She wants to know her family. I haven't told her about you. I'm not sure I want you around her." I said.

"What's her middle name?" Mack asked.

"What?" I asked.

"Her middle name! Is it Marie?" He asked impatiently.

I nodded.

"Opal Marie Evans, soon to be Suzuki." I said.

Mack let out a breath as he covered his mouth with his hand. My phone dinged in my hand. I looked down to see a text from Jack. I opened it to see a bunch of pictures. They are all the ones that he took to my family's home. Wait, is that.. the guy from the club? The one that I beat up? That found us at the aquarium? What the hell is he doing there?

Pure anger rose in me. Haru, that fu.cker! I texted Jack to keep an eye on him and replace out all the information he could.

"I can't believe this.." Mack said.

"I have to go. I'll call you if I decide it's okay for you and Opal to meet," I stated.

Then my phone started to ring. It's Opal. I should take it so she doesn't get suspicious.

"What the hell do you mean if you decide?" Mack seethed.

I ignored him.

"Hey baby, what's up?" I answered my phone.

"Kenzo!"

"Kendra? Why are you calling me off of Opal's phone?" I asked.

"Just listen!" Kendra rushed out. "Someone took her! Someone snatched her up!"

"What are you talking about, Kendra? Took who?" I asked.

"Opal! Someone kidnapped Opal!" She screeched.

I froze. My phone fell from my hand to the floor. I could vaguely hear Kendra freaking out as I turned to Mack.

"You're coming with me."
