Kenzo's P.O.V.

**********

"You know who she is?" I asked the P.I.

He shook his head.

"I didn't at the time, but I got her plate number. I had a friend run it as soon as I woke up." He said.

"Well? Who the fu.ck is she?" I seethed.

"Hailey Corden," he said.

Why does that name sound so familiar?

Mack pushed me out of the way to get into the man's face. His eyes are wide, and he looks pis.sed off. Does he know this woman?

"Are you sure about that name?" Mack asked.

"Positive." The P.I. replied.

"Who the hell is she to you?" I asked Mack.

Mack turned to me with wide eyes. He looks pale. As if he'd seen a ghost.

"I was told she would never be let out. I made sure of it myself. How did this happen?" He more of asked himself.

"Mack, who the fu.ck is she?" I asked.

"That's the name of the woman that killed my son." He said.

"What? The obsessed fan?" I asked.

Mack nodded.

"She was locked up in a psych ward after that. She was convinced that Greg and she were in love. That they had a child together. I always thought she was just crazy. I never knew there was truth to the child." He said. "Are you telling me that this woman is Opal's mother?" I asked, confused.

Mack shook his head.

"There is no way that Opal is her daughter. She's an African American woman. She's delusional. That's why she went to a psych ward instead of prison," Mack said.

"So, you're saying that she thinks she's Opal's mother?" I asked.

Mack nodded.

"That isn't terrible. At least she won't hurt Opal," I said.

Mack swallowed as he paled even more.

"Right?" I asked.

Mack gave me a grave look.

"When she was questioned about why she hit my son, she told them that they all needed to die together." He told me.

My blood ran cold.

"Are you telling me that the woman who has Opal right now, has intentions to kill her?" I asked.

"Yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying." He gritted out. "Tagen!" Mack shouted as he walked over to his men.

I turned to Beck, Jenson, and the P.I.

"You said you ran a check on that woman, Hailey?" I asked.

He nodded.

"I got her basic information but was waiting to hear about where she has been staying," he said.

I pulled out my phone to dial Jack.

"Zo, did you replace her in time? Please tell me she's okay." He answered immediately.

"No, she wasn't here when we got here. She killed one of the men that kidnapped her, and ran off." I said.

"That's great, right?" He asked. "Other than the murder thing."

"No. She got kidnapped again." I rushed out.

"What? What do you mean? Again?" Jack asked.

"Jack just listen to me. Some woman named Hailey Corden took her. Apparently, this woman was obsessed with Opal's father and was the cause of his accident. I need you to replace out where she's been staying. See if she has any property in the state or anywhere. Anything owned by family. Do it now." I said.

"Got it." Jack said.

I hung up the phone and stared off in the distance.

How far could this woman have gone with Opal? How late were we? Maybe if we check the cameras we can see which direction they went off in. It's possible that I could catch up with them.

"They don't have working cameras."

I turned my head to the P.I.

"That's why we chose this place. No working cameras. No one asks too many questions." He told me.

Fu.ck.

"I hope you replace her." He said.

"What?" I asked him.

"I know it sounds strange. Considering I kidnapped her, but.. Opal is a very nice woman. I regret everything that's happened since I helped take her." He told me.

I looked him up and down with a scowl.

"You better just hope that woman doesn't harm a hair on her head."

It took Jack several hours to get us any information. Turns out that this Hailey woman's family has a farm house a few hours outside of the city. It's secluded, and she has no living family left. No one to hear them. No one to stop Hailey. A perfect place to off herself and Opal.

"Should we call the police now? We're getting close," Beck asked.

"Call them. Tell them who we are and where we are going," I replied.

Beck made the call and I sped up more. I have to get there. Opal has to be okay. She has to be. I have to get there in time.

"Zo... This might be a really bad time to tell you this, but.. Kendra mentioned something to me-"

"There's the house!" I said, interrupting Beck.

There, somewhat off in the distance, sits a lone white farmhouse. The only thing around it is a large beaten-up barn. Everything else is field. It's maybe a good 15 miles away, but still able to see it.

"Is that.. fire?" Jenson asked.

Sh.it.

"Beck call the fire department." I ordered.

Then I sped up more, pushing my foot to the floor.

Fu.ck. Fu.ck. Fu.ck Fu.ck.

By the time I whipped into the driveway, over half of the house was up in flames. I got out of the car and started screaming for Opal. I didn't hear anything except the crackling of the fire. I heard the sirens, but they were still far off in the distance.

I ran to the front door, and kicked it down. Flames licked out at me, but I didn't care. Just when I was about to run inside, someone grabbed me from behind.

I thrashed in their hold, but they had me in a full nelson. All I'm able to do is buck and try to kick my legs.

"Zo chill. You can't go in there." Jenson shouted in my ear.

"I have to replace Opal!" I shouted.

Just then, a fire truck whirled into the driveway. Several men jumped off of the truck, some rushing inside, some rushing to us. Jenson finally let me go, and I tried to bolt for the door. Only to be stopped again by what seemed to be the head chief. "Whoa son, can't let ya in there." He said.

"My fiance is in there! She was kidnapped!" I shouted.

The chief turned to another firefighter, and they nodded to each other.

"Do you know where at in the house she was at?" The chief asked.

I gave him an incredulous look.

"She. Was. Kidnapped." I repeated.

"What's her name?" The chief asked me.

"Opal. Her name is Opal. She has strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, and is about 5'7. Let me go in and I'll replace her." I said.

The chief turned back to the other firefighter. The man nodded before going inside the burning house. Several of the others are already putting out the flames but it appears to be difficult for them.

"I can't let ya in there. I already told ya that. You'll just have to wait until we replace her." He said.

"Wait until you replace her?!" I repeated incredulously.

How can these people expect me to wait? My fiance is in there! The love of my life! My only reason for living at this point!

I looked at the men around me. If I can just wait until they're distracted, I can run inside. I looked at Jenson and Beck talking to a few of the firefighters. This is probably my chance.

I turned for the door, just as I was about to book it, that same firefighter that just went in, came out carrying Opal.

Opal is covered in blood. It's caked all over her shirt, and there is a bunch smeared across her face. Her eyes are closed, but I can tell she's breathing. For now.

Panic consumed me as I rushed to her.

"Opal! Opal baby can you hear me!?" I shouted.

I tried to take her from the man, but he refused to give her to me. I was just about to start flipping out when an ambulance pulled up. Two paramedics hopped out with a stretcher. I helped them put Opal on it, and wheel her to the bus. "Are you riding alone?" One asked me.

"Yes," I replied.

"Alright, come on."

I hopped inside and sat on the bench. The two of them ripped open Opal's shirt. They checked her vitals, put an oxygen mask on her, and gave her something else.

"Well?" I asked.

"She seems fine for now. Lots of smoke inhalation. You'll have to wait for more until she sees a doctor." One of them said.

I ran a hand through my hair as I looked at Opal. This doctor had better have good news.

*********

"Sir, are you Opal's family?"

I looked up from my seat in the waiting room to see a middle-aged woman in a white lab coat speaking to me.

"I'm her fiance." I said.

Sh.it, will they believe me? Opal wasn't even wearing a ring. Maybe being engaged isn't enough for them to give me information?

"Alright, I'm Dr. Kormack, follow me this way." She said.

Dr. Kormack turned on her heel and I quickly followed behind.

"Opal took in a lot of smoke in the fire. She's doing much better now though. However, she was severely dehydrated when she came in and hadn't eaten properly in a few days." She said.

Dr. Kormack stopped in front of a room with glass walls. There are curtains blocking the view of the room. The door is open though, and I can see Opal inside on the bed asleep. My sweet little kitten. "So, she'll be fine?" I asked.

"Yes, she'll need to stay here for a couple of days to make sure. Other than that, she's a trooper." The doctor said.

I smiled. She's fine. Opal is going to be okay.

"Luckily, she still had the ring on her finger as well. It was put into a small baggie and set on the side of her table." Dr. Kormack said.

"Ring?" I asked.

The doctor nodded with a smile on her face.

"Yes, her engagement ring, I assume. It was on her left hand, looked like an engagement ring to us." She said.

I looked back at Opal as the doctor started to scribble on her clipboard. A nurse came up and handed her a file. I couldn't take my eyes off of Opal.

She put the ring on. Finally, I got my answer. I thought for sure Opal would take years to convince to marry me. But she put it on. She wants me as much as I want her.

"1

I got more results back. I almost waited to get you until I got these so that I could give you all the news at once, but it looks like things are good. Both of them are okay." Dr. Kormack said to me.

I looked at her confused.

"Both of them?" I asked.

Dr. Kormach nodded without looking at me.

"Yes, Opal and the baby are both fine sir. Congratulations, I'm glad your fiance didn't miscarry and the baby is healthy." She said.

Baby?
