My gaze darts all around the living room and kitchen, but there’s no one here. And nowhere to hide.
But I can feel the energy. It’s different.

My legs are trembling as I turn back toward my bedroom.
He has to be here.
Closing the last few steps to my doorway, I pointedly ignore the bathroom and the fact I left the door open when I went in there to pee.
I didn’t know.
How could I have known?
Tremors race up and down my limbs.
