Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2266
"Hold on. I will call the doctor right now." Delilah rushed out of Joan's room.
This is serious! No wonder she didn't want to eat dinner! Larry is such a careless man. He was in the room for over half an hour, yet he did not notice her discomfort.
Delilah was on her way to replace the doctor when she coincidentally ran into Dustin.
"Ms. Young, what happened? Why are you in such a hurry?" the man asked.
"Sorry, I don't have time to talk. Joan's stomach is hurting badly. I need to go replace the doctor," Delilah responded while still running in panic.
"Ms. Young! I will go and replace the doctor. It will be faster if I drive. You go home and take care of Joan!" Dustin shouted without hesitation.
At that instant, Delilah felt as though her burden was half relieved. "Okay! Please hurry!"
Back in the room, Joan was tossing and turning in her bed, groaning in agony. She wanted to scream, but she was drained of all energy. Beside her, she could feel Lucius holding her hand tightly while trembling in fright. "Mom, hold in there. Grandma will be back soon with the doctor."
It's Lucius!
Joan struggled to look at her son's face, but she could barely keep her eyes open.
"Mom, it's me, Lucius. I am right here. Don't worry. I won't leave you," Lucius whispered while caressing her face.
"Good boy. Mom loves you the most." Joan choked on her words. Perhaps besides Lucius and Ms. Young, there is no one else left in my world.
"Son, promise me you will be good and listen to your Grandma. She is old already. Don't make her angry, understand?" Joan started to mumble in front of Lucius.
Lucius suddenly burst into tears. "Mom, why are you talking like this? You will be fine. Stop talking. The doctor will be here shortly."
In fact, Joan was trying to distract Lucius, as she did not want him to worry about her. However, Lucius mistook those for her last words.
"Silly boy, why are you crying? I'm just not feeling well. Come on. A boy should be strong and not cry. You won't be able to replace a girlfriend in the future if you cry," Joan continued to say. "I don't want any girlfriend. I only want Mom!"
What a touching moment! This is indeed a warm scene! Just then, Delilah walked into the room slowly, wiping the tears on her face away.
She patted Lucius' shoulder to comfort him. "Good boy. Mom will be fine. It's just a stomachache. Don't cry anymore."
Dustin fulfilled his promise efficiently, and the doctor reached the house after a short while. "Don't worry. It is not a big deal. She has a mere cold. She should be recovering as she rests." Delilah and Dustin breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that piece of good news.
"Mom, how are you feeling now?" Lucius was still slightly worried about his mother.
"Lucius, come over here. Your mom has just drunk her medicine. Let her rest." Dustin stopped him.
"Doctor, thank you so much." On the other hand, Delilah was escorting the doctor to the door.
"You're most welcome. Remember not to let her overwork herself. Remind her to keep a good mood," the doctor reminded Delilah before he left.
A good mood seems like a mission impossible for her right now. Delilah sighed.
In the room, Dustin and Lucius were standing at the corner. Looking at Joan, who was sleeping soundly, the two of them felt helpless and worried.
"Mr. Dustin, Mom's body is weak, so she can't go to work for a few days." Lucius raised his head to look the man in the eyes as he spoke.
Of course, I won't let her go to work. To me, there's nothing that matters more than her.
"Ms. Young, where's Larry? Have you called him?" Dustin questioned in a low voice. Delilah shook her head and gave a long sigh.
"It's better not to call him. Joan doesn't want to see him right now," she replied softly.
