Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2346

"Alright." Larry pulled out his phone and called Jessica.

Joan was taken aback by his action. I didn't think he would call her right in front of me.

Is he planning to show me how lovey-dovey they are? She thought it was quite ironic.

Larry, you're crossing the line here! Joan stared out the window as she sipped on her drink.

"Hello, Larry. It's rare for you to call me," Jessica said.

"Actually, I was acting on someone's wish." Larry stole a glance at the patient.

What is he playing at? Why couldn't he just spit it out? Joan could feel her rage rising.

"Who wanted you to call me. Why me?" Jessica probed.

"Nothing much. Just wondering how you've been lately? How's Caspian?"

"He's doing great, just busy. And he lost a ton of weight running your errands," she muttered unhappily.

Larry talked to Jessica for quite a while in front of Joan, who was surprised by the lack of intimacy in their conversation.

"What? You're in the hospital? What happened? Are you hurt? Tell me the address. I'll be there as soon as I can." Jessica almost hung up the phone.

"It's not me. It's Joan. She suffered a small injury to her arm. But don't worry, it's not severe."

Jessica would've made a big deal out of it if she knew Joan fractured her arm.

"You met with Joan? Wow! Larry, I'm impressed with your thoughtfulness and initiative."

The call was on speaker, so Joan heard everything.

"No. He was merely passing by." She cleared the air immediately.

It doesn't matter to me if he has a new girlfriend. I'm still going to draw the line between us.

"Oh, I see. Then Larry, please take care of Joan. Call me if you need anything. Caspian is doing great. Nothing in the company escapes him," Jessica chuckled.

He believed in Caspian's capability and honesty, else the latter wouldn't have followed his lead. There was a glint of sadness in his eyes.

"Did something happen within the company?" Joan questioned.

"It's nothing to worry about. Just focus on your surgery. I'll be right here with you," Larry answered.

"You have a call from Ms. Young." He handed the phone to her.

Flustered, Joan glanced at the phone number on the screen.

What should I do? Ms. Young wouldn't know about it, would she? Her brows knitted into a frown.

"I didn't tell Ms. Young about your injury," Larry assured softly.

"Hello, Ms. Young," Joan greeted.

"Ms. Young? This is Caiden. Joan, why didn't you answer my calls?" he demanded.

I called her almost every day, and she didn't even pick up once. When I used Delilah's phone to call her, she answered right away. She's obviously avoiding me.

"I didn't notice any of your missed calls. Well, I've picked up now, didn't I?" Joan murmured.

Caiden's temper sparked, but he kept it in check because he wanted to talk to her peacefully.

"Where are you right now?"

He was dying to see her.

"There's something I have to handle outside. What's going on? Why're you looking for me?"
