Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2446
Many weird things were going on that year.
Back at home, Joan and the others were living very peacefully and happily. There were not many worries or disturbances in their lives.
"Help me put this pot over there," said Delilah as she pointed to an open space not too far away.
"Sure," Joan replied.
"Bad mood? Give Larry a call then!" Delilah purposely said.
"He's really busy."
"Is his work more important, or his woman?" Delilah asked.
At that time, Larry was having a conversation with Malcolm. "What do you plan to do, Mr. Lancaster?" asked Larry.
I don't believe that guy will just stop here.
"I need time. I have to wait. There're some of my people on the board of directors. They're all my good friends and won't compromise with him easily. But what I'm worried about most is that they'll think I'm dead since I can't appear in front of them right now," said Malcolm.
He was willing to be honest as he trusted Larry to some extent. After all, Larry had provided him help when he was at his lowest point, proving that he was a good man.
"Okay, what do you need me to do?" Larry asked.
Malcolm looked at the man with a gaze full of gratitude.
"Mr. Norton, I'll have to trouble you during this period of time then. I've already sent my family overseas, so I don't have to worry about anything else now. I need some people to help me investigate the truth. Only when it comes to light can I openly go back to my company."
Larry understood Malcolm's words very well.
Everyone had their times of trouble and had times when they were wronged. Naturally, he would not harm the man when he was already at a bad stage of his life. Furthermore, he believed that Malcolm would be able to return to his company.
"Why don't you help me investigate this one guy," Malcolm said, handing a photo over to Larry. Just like that, the two began their investigations in the hotel room.
"But you have to be careful. These people are cunning. If they notice anything, they won't let you off that easily," said Malcolm.
"Sure, no problem," replied Larry as he walked to the window, squinting into the distance.
Joan, you have to wait for me! Larry's affectionate thoughts were mixed with some sadness. Naturally, Malcolm noticed it. "Is something bothering you?" he suddenly asked.
"I'm fine," replied Larry as he turned around and smiled.
The only thing he was troubled about was Joan. He had promised her that he would return as soon as possible but had not expected that he would meet with such a situation. As the days passed, Larry was still busy investigating overseas while Joan looked forward to reuniting with him back at home.
"Mom, when's Dad coming back?" asked Lucius as he snuggled in Joan's arms. When she raised her head at his question, there was a helpless expression on her face. She herself did not know when he would be back. She missed him a lot.
"Be good. Dad's very busy now. When he's done with his work, he'll come back to spend time with you, okay?" she replied gently as she kissed him on the forehead. For some reason, without Larry around, she always felt like something was missing in the house.
Is it about time I agree to remarry him? There was a flicker of expectation in her eyes.
Suddenly, Lucius raised his head and asked seriously, "Mom, did you and Dad get a divorce?" Instantly, Joan was flustered.
How did he know? We clearly kept it a secret! She stared at the child in her arms, surprised.
"Why did you suddenly ask about this?" she replied, acting as if it was such an unbelievable thing to ask.
"Because when I cleaned your room the other day, I saw the divorce papers," he replied with a hint of sadness in his gaze.
Oh my god, why was I so careless! He actually discovered such an important document!
