Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2827
"Bye, Dad," Della called out while heading out the door.
"Della!" Fred shouted after her, but his words seemed to have fallen on deaf ears as the woman was soon out of sight.
Thinking about his rebellious daughter made the elder man feel disconcerted.
"Mr. Duff, are you alright?" A housemaid darted to his side.
"My-my meds..." Fred stammered while pointing at a drawer.
Della was not aware of her father's medical condition. Hence, she could not understand his anxiety.
Della soon arrived outside Larry's office. She opened his office door as quietly as possible and tiptoed inside as to not disturb the man who was working inside. Larry was already aware of his surroundings, but he refused to acknowledge her presence.
Della tried her best to pass the time by scrolling on her phone. When all her patience was finally exhausted, she walked toward Larry and leaned on his desk.
"Get up," he said, deadpan.
He still hates me? Doesn't he miss me at all after I went away for such a long time? The woman continued to stare at Larry, and a glint of despondent flashed across her eyes.
To Larry, Della brought nothing but nuisance and irritation. Therefore, he was thankful to have peace of mind when she was completely out of his sight.
"Larry, I'm back," Della said carefully.
So? If she expects a warm welcome from me, she can keep on dreaming. How I wish she would vanish from the surface of the earth for good!
"I'm busy," Larry stated coldly. His eyes were glued to the files in front of him.
The man's aloofness saddened Della.
"Larry, here's the information you wanted," Caspian's voice rang out as he walked into the office without knocking. He stopped in midstride when he saw Della. What's she doing back here?
'If there's nothing else, you can leave now." Larry finally lifted his head and looked at the woman in his office.
There must be something she needs here. I know her too well; each of her moves has been carefully calculated in order to serve her ultimate goal.
"It's been quite some time since we last met. Can we have dinner tonight?" There was an unmistakable sign of plea in her tone.
Ugh! Dining with her is such a torturous ordeal.
"I'm occupied tonight." Larry retracted his gaze and resumed his work.
Suddenly, Della broke into tears.
Caspian, who had been a mere onlooker from the moment he barged into the office, looked at the weeping woman and felt sorry for her.
"What are you crying about? Did you come all the way here just to put on a show?" Larry was unfazed by the sight of the beautiful woman sobbing before him.
What now? Did she shift her tactic to try to appeal to my better nature? Larry let out a scoff. Having experienced first-hand of what she was capable of, he knew better than to have mercy on Della and then fall victim to her.
I have already lost Joan because of her. There's no way I'll let this woman get to me.
"Larry, can you please forgive me? I know that some of my past behaviors were condemnable. But I had no choice. I'm just so madly in love with you," Della said emotionally in between her sobs. Larry, however, continued to be stoned-face.
Caspian, on the other hand, kept winking at Larry, trying to get him to go easy on Della. To his dismay, the man was completely walled up.
"Della, I'm really swamped right now. If you're hungry, go replace a restaurant and knock yourself out." Larry's tone left no room for discussion.
Caspian then blurted, "Um, Ms. Duff, Larry is rather snowed under with work lately, that's why he's in a foul mood. Please don't take this personally. Why don't you come back at a later time when things ease up a little?"
