Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2880
Indeed, onlookers could see the situation clearly compared to participants. In the eyes of others, Abelyn and Dustin's relationship had long exceeded that of normal friends. However, they had both convinced themselves to regard each other as good friends.
"What do you want to eat tonight, Joan? I'll cook for you!" said Abelyn loudly as she suddenly exited the room. Although she had asked calmly, Abelyn had to admit that she had other motives for asking that question. She did not want Dustin and Joan to spend time alone.
"Why's your face so red, Abelyn?" Joan asked and pointed at her.
"Huh?" She touched her own face, and indeed, it was warm.
Anxious, Dustin then ran over to place his hand on her forehead.
"There's no fever. Why are you so flushed, then?" he asked, lowering his head to look her in the eye.
At that moment, his proximity and pheromones made Abelyn feel a little suffocated. She concealed her anxiousness and slowly made her way beside Joan. Da*n you, Dustin. Why were you sticking so close to her?
"I'm fine. Maybe I'm just getting too hot. Why's the weather so hot!" she said as she walked into the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Larry was dealing with something else in Norton Corporation.
Bam! Jake rushed in with a fierce aura. Caspian immediately ran into Larry's office, fearing that something bad might happen.
"Where did you hide Joan!" shouted Jake coldly, his tone full of resentment.
Larry looked at the man in front of him and snorted coldly. He had already known that Jake would come searching for him, so naturally, he was well-prepared. He immediately replied with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, "I'm not you. I don't have to hide anyone."
Looking at the resolute, confident face in front of him, Jake was angered. This idiot looks like he wants to start a war with me!
"You didn't hide her? Where is she then?"
However, Larry simply looked at him with contempt.
He clearly knew that Joan didn't like him, but he was forcing her to marry him. And now that she has rejected him, he's still here to pester her. What a stubborn man!
Larry looked the other man in the eye, slightly worried. He was worried that Joan would be threatened by Jake in the future and that he would take revenge on her. Although he had not interacted a lot with that man, Larry understood his temperament. He knew that once Jake set his mind on something, he would be unscrupulous. "Just give up, Jake. Set both of you free. Aren't you letting Faye down by taking such extreme actions now?" said Larry deliberately.
Although he did not know what Faye actually meant to Jake, he knew that she had sacrificed a lot for him.
As soon as Jake heard the word "Faye," he was stunned. He lowered his head as a trace of guilt flickered across his eyes. Yeah, I admit I don't love that woman. But it's also true that she sacrificed a lot for me while we were dating.
However, feelings would not appear just because one gave up a lot for the other. All along, Joan was the person that was deep inside his heart. It had taken him a very long time before he finally realized that. "Don't try to bring in other unrelated matters. Hand Joan over to me! I need to talk to her," Jake shouted, his tone rude.
Then, Larry slowly walked over to the sofa and took a seat as a cold flash of light flickered across his eyes.
Since he knew that Jake was emotionally unstable then, he definitely would not hand her over to him. Who knows if he'd harm her when he sees her.
"Didn't we make things clear that day? What else do you have to talk about?" asked Larry without even raising his head to look at him.
"Don't forget that I was the one who saved her. Hurry and hand her over!"
