Never Late, Never Away (Vivian and Finnick) -
Chapter 2921
Chapter 2921
"Larry, bad news!"
Caspian barged in.
They knew when the usually unflappable Caspian got jittery, something serious had happened.
Jessica sprang to her feet and glared at the intruder.
"The project supervisor quit without notice"
Caspian continued as he tried to stay composed. She slumped back on the couch, defeated.
Tears were brimming in her eyes. She knew the loss was too great for Larry to bear.
"Also, the workers are going on strike because they didn't get paid?" the bodyguard said with his head down.
Larry massaged his temples, deep in thought.
Someone had orchestrated the whole situation and instigated the project supervisor to abscond with the workers' salary. Larry was completely at sea and stuck in a dead end.
Jessica felt powerless. She wouldn't know how to help with this project.
If something had happened in the fashion department, she could still use her limited knowledge to resolve the issues.
"Caspian, be sure to replace the supervisor. And send someone to pacify the workers. Tell them they will be paid tomorrow"
Larry instructed calmly.
Jessica was impressed he could keep his head in such a crisis. She quickly regain her composure and approached him slowly.
"Larry, is there anything I can do?"
Her best friend was in trouble.
If Larry could give her some guidance, she was confident that she would be an asset to him.
The man was hesitant to get her involved.
Yet there weren't many people he could trust.
"Jessica, replace someone to tail Jake. Maintain a safe distance so he wouldn't notice? "Larry said seriously. He believed Jessica wouldn't betray him. "Okay!" she exclaimed and left the office, convinced that Jake had something to do with their predicament.
Indeed, the latter was the mastermind.
"What a coincidence, Ms.Zimmer! Are you stalking me now?"
Jake chuckled as he walked in.
Their encounter was a pure coincidence.
"Why would I? You're not as handsome as Larry or as sensible as Caspian" she snapped.
Jake flared up when she mentioned Larry. He swore under his breath and took a seat in front of Jessica. His eyes were cold and indifferent.
"I thought you liked Larry. When did you suddenly fall head over heels for Caspian? I bet Joan is a tough rival, huh?" he sneered.
She knew Jake was trying to provoke her, so she wouldn't fall for his tricks.
He had underestimated her close ties with Larry.
She set the spoon on the table, wiped her mouth, and looked up at him impassively.
"Any Tom, Dick and Harry is better than you."
At that, she stood up to leave.
"Stop right there!" he roared and shoved her back into her seat.
His rudeness shocked her.
Those who dared to offend Jake, no matter the gender, would suffer a tragic ending.
