Newbie's Quest: Awaiting Challenge -
Chapter 57: I'm Specifically Targeting You
"Ethan Walker suddenly pulls out his true form!"
"What do you mean by Ethan's true form? Hahaha, that's hilarious."
"Why did Ethan suddenly bring out his 'Macho Tears Hammer'?"
"Macho Tears Hammer'? What a bizarre name."
"It's the 'Hammer that even the toughest men would cry upon seeing, a girlish pink, squeaky, inflatable hammer'." "Hahaha, stop it, what a ridiculous name, hahaha."
There was fervent discussion in the bullet comment section. Although some were just stirring the pot, others spoke the truth. Indeed, no one had encountered any monsters in the cinema version. This was strange. An A-grade without monsters? Relying solely on puzzles for such a high rating seemed unlikely. Yet, the truth remained. Reviewing all the cinema version replays, no player had encountered monsters. They were simply mysteriously teleported out of the instance, unable to clear it.
Upon seeing Ethan Walker release his hammer, the others reacted differently. Oliver Wright was the first to respond, drawing his own weapon a majestic long spear. Felix Rayburn, caught off guard, also decided to arm himself for protection, wielding a scythe adorned with many ornate but impractical decorations, clearly favoring appearance over utility.
Natalie Clark, on the other hand, didn't draw any weapon. It was obvious why. If she revealed her signature weapon, it would be like announcing to everyone with a megaphone-'Eternal Dynasty's Natalie Clark is venturing into an A-grade instance.' Her proud and aloof persona wouldn't stoop to such a non-initial, non-S grade instance. It was beneath her dignity.
Ethan Walker didn't care about the others' calculations. He was determined to follow his own path. "Since you all disagree with holding hands, let's just start moving," he suggested, eager to expedite the process. "There's a safety exit over there. Let's check it out." Ethan pointed towards a glowing green exit sign.
Felix Rayburn was the first to disagree. "It looks like a trap. Based on past experiences, these usually ensnare players. It could lead to our total annihilation." His fans echoed his skepticism. "Exactly, Felix is right!" "If Ethan falls for such an obvious trap, he must have been piggybacking on others to clear instances before." "I fear not the instance's difficulty, but a teammate's incompetence. I'm already worried for Felix."
Ethan Walker simply shrugged at Felix's doubts. "You can stay if you want. I'm heading there." Felix was taken aback, not expecting Ethan to disregard even a debate. Unconcerned, Ethan started walking towards the exit. Oliver Wright, a staunch supporter of Ethan, naturally followed his lead. Surprisingly, the mysterious figure in black, whose identity was concealed, also followed Ethan's footsteps, leaving Felix in a dilemma-whether to follow or stay put. Eventually, he reluctantly followed Ethan and the others, after aimlessly wandering in the audience seats, replaceing nothing.
The cinema was shrouded in darkness, prompting caution in their movements. Ethan Walker led the trio to the safety exit, pushing open the heavy metal door. As he had anticipated, exiting only brought them back into the cinema. The scene was almost identical to the previous one, with no apparent differences unless scrutinized closely.
The audience in the bullet comment section, unfamiliar with any instance records, was on the verge of madness.
"Damn, is this a ghost wall?"
"Am I blind? It's exactly the same as the scene just now!"
"I just got some takeout, and they're still in the first scene? This progress is painfully slow."
"The guy with the takeout, better eat first and watch the replay later. Otherwise, you might lose your appetite." "Some people really don't do their homework, huh? The characteristic of this cinema instance is the loop!"
"So what if I didn't do my homework? Not everyone has time to watch every video replay!"
"What's with all the arguing? I don't get it."
"It's just two people quarreling, right?"
"Can't you guys just keep quiet and watch in peace?"
"Oh, someone's acting all high and mighty again."
Wherever there were people, disputes were inevitable, especially in an instance involving Ethan Walker, which always attracted a large crowd. As the argument in the comments section heated up again, Ethan sighed deeply, observing the identical room. "This isn't how it's supposed to be," he muttered, a remark picked up by his attentive fans.
"Stop arguing, Ethan seems to have an idea."
"What does he mean by 'this isn't how it's supposed to be'? Is there a mystery here?"
"Damn, it's true! The theater originally marked as 2D has now changed to 3D!"
"Ah! Does that make any difference... The shadows on the flat surfaces haven't moved." "Watch Ethan, he must have thought of something."
Ethan's comment caught the attention of the other three. Oliver Wright asked with naive curiosity, "Bro, what do you mean by that?" The man in black remained silent, keenly observing Ethan, including his subtle expressions. Ethan felt helpless. "I didn't want to do this because it's quite shocking, although I assure you it's safe." Oliver grew impatient. "Bro, don't keep us in suspense. Whatever it is, just say it! We'll use our strength to help you." Felix Rayburn seized the opportunity to chime in, "Yes, Ethan, if there's any difficulty, just speak up. We'll fully cooperate."
Ethan didn't react much to Oliver's earnest words, but Felix's statement seemed to spark something in him. "You said it," he noted. Felix hesitated, unsure of how to react. It wasn't until Ethan approached him with the inflatable hammer, a determined look in his eyes, that Felix realized what Ethan was planning to do. "You, you can't..." Felix stepped back as Ethan advanced, the hammer in his hand striking down with force!
