Elisa looked at Gareth in confusion and said nothing. Then, she walked toward the plants and checked them

carefully – they were indeed the plants she kept.

She could recognize some minor details and the shape of the plants.

Besides, there was no surveillance camera on the balcony, and they didn’t employ any servants. So, Gareth

couldn’t possibly replace similar plants to deceive her.

If he had only established his motives recently, he wouldn’t have asked someone to take care of the plants since

back then.

Elisa couldn’t figure out what Gareth was up to. Putting aside her frustration, she faced him and stared at him

calmly. “What exactly do you want? You should know that I won’t possibly get back together with you, and I know

you have no feelings for me at all. I don’t want to be captivated for the rest of my life. Gareth, I’m tired. Don’t you

feel exhausted too?”

Gareth wore a faint smile on his handsome face. His deep-set eyes were filled with incomprehensible emotions.

Elisa couldn’t tell if he was smirking or smiling out of vexation.

“I don’t have to remind you about the benefits of getting back together with me.”

Elisa snorted, “I don’t need those benefits, and I don’t want to hurt myself anymore.”

Gareth was not irritated by Elisa’s words. Instead, he spat coolly, “Continue walking around.”

Elisa remained silent and finally stepped forward. There was no harm in looking around since she was already

there.

Truth be told, she missed this place, not the moments she had with Gareth. After all, she was staying alone in the

villa. What she missed were the efforts and sacrifices she made.

She became sulkier the more she walked around the house. Finally, she sat on the couch and refused to move.

She looked at Gareth solemnly and uttered coldly, “I’m telling you this again – I’ll not get back together with you.

Please don’t think about using me. There’s no need for us to collaborate through marriage.”

“Hey, Liz.”

Just then, a familiar voice that she had been dreaming of hearing again came forth. Her body shuddered at once as

her eyes were filled with shock and disbelief.

She turned to the source of the sound to realize it was a recording played from Gareth’s phone.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

She gasped involuntarily, “This recording…”

Gareth did not comment while the recording continued playing.

“Hey, Liz. When you heard this recording, Dad might not be on this earth anymore.”

Two rows of tears streamed down her face and fell onto her shirt, forming two dark spots on it.

Besides sorrow, her eyes were filled with bewilderment all the more.

Why does Gareth have this recording? How did Dad know that he was about to pass away? How?!

“You’re my precious little princess and the one I care about the most. Unfortunately, my health is deteriorating, and

I can’t accompany you forever and witness your happiness. I just hope that you won’t be too depressed after my

passing.”

Tears gushed down Elisa’s cheeks as her strong appearance shattered.

“Elisa, Dad knows you might have a lot of questions and doubts, but there are things that I don’t wish to tell you

because that will only increase your trouble. Anyway, you’re married into the Wickam family now. I believe Gareth

will gradually fall for you and will treat you well. Liz, some things can’t be forced – for example, kinships.”
