Carle sighed; he felt a little helpless. “I’ll have someone escort me. I’ll be fine. It’s just making dinner. You know me,

Elisa. I’m not that weak.”

The look in Rachel’s eyes turned complicated. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

Elisa said gently, “Let’s talk about this when you are better, Carle. You should take care of your own body.”

Carle’s eyes shone with tears. Eventually, he replied helplessly. “Okay then.”

Their call was still going on, but both of them had gone silent.

Elisa did not know what to say. Carle had a lot to say, but he needed to figure out where or how to start.

Rachel felt awkward. The next moment, she suddenly had an idea. She quickly ran to one side and shouted, “Elisa,

come help me! I don’t know how to sort out your belongings.”

Elisa smiled slowly. This best friend of hers was indeed reliable. Carle had surely heard Rachel.

As expected, Carle spoke. “We’ll talk later then. Go on with your unpacking.”

“Okay. Take care of your health. Don’t overwork yourself.”

“Alright.”

Elisa hung up right away.

Carle held onto his phone. He had a sad look on his face.

He stared at his phone’s wallpaper with increased sadness in his eyes. It was a beautiful photo of Elisa.

Elisa…

Am I going to lose her?

No. To be exact, had she ever belonged to him?

The rest were all Gareth’s employees.

Elisa appeared like personnel with solid internal endorsement. Everyone had to listen to her except for Gareth.

Today was Elisa’s first day at Wickam Group.

Gareth had prepared a private office for Elisa.

Her office here was more luxurious than the one she had at Benett Corporation.

Moreover…

Elisa frowned slightly. Why was the office layout similar to Gareth’s?

Thomas noticed Elisa’s frown as soon as he turned to her. He avoided her gaze in guilt and did not say anything.

After scanning around, he said, “Ms. Benett, you will be working here from today onward. You may contact me if

you need anything.”

Elisa nodded. “Great.”

Thomas nodded in response. “Why don’t you take a short rest first? Mr. Wickam will have a discussion with all the

personnel involved in half an hour. Are you alright with this schedule?”

Elisa replied calmly. “No problem.”

Thomas nodded. He trusted Ms. Benett’s working abilities. He smiled and excused himself. “Then I shall leave.”

“Okay.”

Thomas closed the door behind him. Elisa looked at her office once more.

She estimated the size of the office to be eighty square feet; the office desk was about one by two meters. It was

luxurious and huge.

There was a lounge on the right side of the room. In the lounge was a black sofa and a coffee table by the side of

the wall.

There was a small pantry on the left side with a coffee maker and some daily necessities.

There was a foldable dining table latched onto the wall too. The office was well-equipped and quite perfect.

And this office was…
