Elisa’s lips twitched, but she couldn’t be bothered to say anything.

Without sparing a glance at Gareth, she started making her way out of the room.

Meanwhile, he simply sat still, gazing at her back sharply as though his eyes could penetrate her.

If another person received such a treatment, they would not be able to withstand such pressure; their bodies would

start to tremble.

However, Elisa was different. She stormed away furiously, not wanting to stay a second longer with Gareth.

In the past, she used to lament that he didn’t like her.

Now that she had seen how he evaluated everything with monetary gains, she felt utterly disappointed and

regretted that she used to be blinded by love.

Were Will to do the same thing, she wouldn’t be that enraged, even if he was more scheming than Gareth; she

would think it was normal.

Perhaps her expectations toward her ex-lover were different. The fact that someone she once loved could be so

terrifying made her unreasonably irate.

After reaching her office, she realized she had lost all her appetite. Hence, she started working, hoping to end the

day sooner so she could go home. More importantly, she wanted to leave Gareth, whom she was disgusted with.

However, she was not the only one who couldn’t eat – Gareth didn’t touch his food at all.

Sitting at his desk, darkness loomed on his face.

Three days later, Elisa and Gareth were still mad and ignoring each other. They also didn’t join any meetings

together.

Even without the fight, Elisa would have ignored him in all circumstances.

This made her the host for most of the meetings. Unless absolutely necessary, Gareth would not show up.

This made Elisa’s life easier, but because of Gareth’s absence, many people changed their minds about her.

In one particular meeting, she pointed out some of her dissatisfactions about the first phase, making everyone

groan in protest.

“Ms. Benett, it’s true that we have to coordinate with you, but we also have to make sure that what you suggest is

correct so that everyone will trust us,” someone voiced out dryly.

Even though the meeting only consisted of fifteen people, they were all experienced veterans in this field. The

problem was about hiring the elites in human resources to support them in the project.

Since most of them were already experienced, they had their own quirks and habits. If Gareth were here, they

would all be meek and quiet.

However, since it was Elisa, they would feel embarrassed if they remained quiet and listened to everything she said.

The person who commented just now was Darell Anderson, the deputy manager of the human resources

department.

Having an excellent track record, he was usually well-respected by everyone. Even his superiors would give in to

him.

In an interview that day, Elisa commented in front of everyone, “You shouldn’t challenge the candidates like that.”

I have my pride too! And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my interview questions. I’ve only hired

competent people during my time here!

Without a doubt, he couldn’t take Elisa’s criticism.
