Chapter 990 Life and Death

Norman shook his head with a sigh as he started getting emotional. "This is really–"

He thought he could bond with Elisa over this, but she cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

"I don't have time for your emotional nonsense. Please get straight to the point."

Annoyed and surprised, Norman tried to suppress his anger.

Knowing he was not in the mood to continue, Rose quickly interjected, "Oh, Elisa. Don't be mad at us."

This time around, she didn't dare to beat around the bush. "Before your father died, he entrusted this to us, asking

us to pass it to you."

Elisa's gaze flickered. Before Dad passed, he also told Gareth the same thing. Did he tell them something more?

An inconspicuous frown appeared on her face. Can it be possible that he asked me not to take revenge when I replace

out the truth?

Her expression hardened as though she knew what was coming.

Norman had no clue what she was thinking. With another sigh, he said, "Your dad said you were the greatest pride

in his life."

Elisa didn't respond to his words; she merely listened quietly.

This might be their last straw. They have no other options left.

Linda retorted impatiently, "Dad, stop telling her what uncle said. Don't we have the recording?"

Elisa's resolve wavered. Is it really from Dad? He… also left one for Gareth. Is this his habit?

Her heart skipped a beat, but there was no change in her expression.

"Of course. I'll play it now," Norman replied.

With that, he took out his phone and found a recording.

Everyone in the room fell silent as they focused on the phone.

As Norman pressed the play button, Nelson's voice rang.

"Elisa."

When she heard her name, there was a shudder in her heart. She inhaled but remained silent.

Rachel quickly held her hand and shot an encouraging look at her.

She smiled back slightly.

Then, Nelson continued, "I'll probably be gone by the time you hear this recording."

Elisa's eyelashes fluttered.

Though his words were very similar to the recording Gareth sent to her, she knew it was another recording.

The choice of words and the tone of his voice were different.

She had listened to the other recording so many times that she had it memorized. She could even visualize how her

father looked at that moment.

A stab of pain shot through her heart. Rachel looked at her worriedly, holding her hand under the table all this

while.

Rachel, as her long-time friend, knew the calm facade she had on. She knew how devastated and nervous Elisa was

feeling, though the latter didn't look or reply to her.

Nelson's voice continued peacefully. "I know it's very upsetting to you. My dearest girl, it's my regret that I can't be

with you until the very end. But remember that we will eventually part. This is how life is."
