No More Waiting, She Chooses Love -
Chapter 722
"Debbie, Debbie..."
I rushed out of the car and wrapped her in a tight embrace, calling her name with urgency.
She didn't respond, so I gently turned her face towards mine. When I finally saw her clearly, I was left speechless.
Her face was swollen, her eyes nearly shut, her cheeks marred with wounds, and her lips... they were grotesquely swollen and bloody...
I wasn't naive; I knew exactly what had happened.
Ernest was right, I was too late.
"I'm calling the police right now," was all I could manage, my voice a mixture of heartbreak and rage.
"No, please..." Debbie's weak protest stopped me in my tracks.
I looked at her, bewildered, but she managed a smile. That smile, on her battered face, tore me apart...
"Why?" My voice was thick with pain.
"Because, I... I need to gather more evidence," Debbie's words shocked me.
In that moment, I understood why she was so scared to come back, yet why she had infiltrated the Sapphire Lounge through a friend's recommendation. She refused to hide away, determined to gather evidence against them, to bring down that hellish place. What could I say? I just held her tighter. "I'm taking you to the hospital right now."
Debbie didn't resist as I helped her into the car. After ensuring she was seated comfortably, I started the engine. As I was about to get in, I noticed a pool of blood where Debbie had been standing.
A shiver ran down my spine. I glanced at Debbie, lying there with her eyes closed, as lifeless as a rag doll.
Monsters...
I had heard rumors about the horrors those people inflicted, but seeing Debbie in this state was a shocking reality check.
Debbie was in critical condition. I called Fanny, then sped to the hospital.
Fanny and a team were waiting at the entrance. As soon as I pulled up, they opened the door and carefully moved Debbie onto a stretcher.
Then, the agonizing wait outside the ER began. After three excruciating hours, the lights finally went off, and Fanny emerged.
She took off her mask, her expression a mix of exhaustion and something I'd never seen before.
Without a word, her look sent chills down my spine. "Fanny, how is she?"
Silence. But then, Fanny gestured towards a nurse who approached with a tray filled with bloody items, unrecognizable due to the blood.
"These were removed from her... from inside," Fanny's voice was heavy with sorrow. "From her... her lower body."
I was horrified, my gaze fixed on the bloody remains, their shapes alone inducing a chilling fear.
"She has over a hundred wounds,
severe tearing, her womb... it
suffered massive hemorrhagic rupture, ker left cheekbone is fractured, and her left breast..
it's...
half gone..." Fanny's words made me feel as if I was plummeting into an icy abyss.
Debbie had been tortured, brutally.
The sight I had been confronted with was harrowing, but Fanny's description was beyond imagining.
Yet, amidst all this, Debbie had smiled at me. Was it a smile born from extreme pain?
I was speechless. Fanny, fueled by anger, insisted, "Felicia, we have to call the police."
I remembered what Debbie had told me. "She said not to, she wanted to investigate further..."
Because there were others like her, suffering the same brutal fate. Ite wasn't about her making a noble sacrifice but about her unwillingness to let any other girl endure what she had gone through. Narugi
