The police hadn't come knocking yet, but Allen did.

Nowadays, Allen was the face of the Clark family, with Lord Clark pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

"Where's the girl?" Allen cut straight to the point, wasting no time.

Shirley had mentioned that the figure only resembled me, but from Allen's tone, he was convinced that figure was indeed me. Was it that he couldn't recognize me, or was he deliberately choosing to believe it was me? That part remained a mystery to me. "I don't know, and it's none of my business," I replied directly.

"There's obviously a reason I've come to you, Felicia. If it's money you're after, that can be arranged. Just hand over the person," Allen said, as if I were some money-hungry woman. Fair enough, given that my current assets were viewed by outsiders as merely a generous breakup settlement from Conrad. There were plenty online accusing me of treating love as a transaction.

"What do you want with her?" I didn't deny any involvement with Nancy's disappearance, instead, I curiously questioned Allen.

"That's none of your business," Allen was unwilling to provide an answer.

I pouted, "Let me guess... you want to have Nancy in your control to manipulate Shirley? Or maybe you're worried that if Nancy's disappearance isn't resolved soon, the online backlash might affect Sapphire Lounge? Or perhaps..." "Felicia, that's family business, not your concern," Allen interrupted me.

But I didn't drop it; my curiosity was piqued, so I pressed on, "Or is your mom the one who sent you?"

Allen's expression finally changed at my last suggestion, to my surprise. The search for Nancy was indeed at his mother's request.

"Seems you know quite a bit about my family," Allen sneered mockingly.

I ignored his comment, stating the truth, "Nancy's disappearance has nothing to do with me, Mr. Clark. You should know where I've been these past days. And why would I kidnap Nancy?"

Allen was silent for a while before slowly asking, "But that girl ran after a figure who looks a lot like you."

He implied that even if it wasn't me

a figure resembling me meant I was somehow involved. Clever, as expected of someone who relies on their wits.

However, I couldn't admit to anything, so I played it off, "So what?"

"Ms. Hudson, you're smart enough to understand what I'm getting at," Allen smirked.

"I don't get it," I feigned ignorance.

Allen nodded slightly, "Let me spell it out: someone used you to carry out this plan." "Who?" I asked.

Allen studied me, trying to glean the my reaction, but I

answer

wasn't to reveal anything`

Afteca moment, he shook his head,

"I don't know."

"Then Mr. Clark, go ahead and investigate. But I didn't do it. If you really want to replace Nancy quickly, stop wasting time on me," I advised.

Allen didn't follow my lead but instead fixed his gaze on me, "Have you ever thought about why they would use you?"

He was fishing for details, but I

shook my head, "No idea. Maybe they wanted to create a

misunderstanding, make you think I

took Nancy. If I can't produce her, you won't let me off the hook"

QUMS

"Could be," Allen agreed, then asked, "Have you considered any other possibilities?"

"Like what?" I looked at him with feigned curiosity.

Allen grinned and leaned forward, "Are you setting this up yourself?"

Credit where it's due, he was using his brains. Even though this wasn't my scheme, Ernest had already filled me in on the intention behind it. "Me?" I scoffed lightly, "Why would I set this up?"
