Nobilis of War
Chapter 1393 Playing A Leading Role

Hearing the five-clawed golden dragon's words, Darren finally realized that the black dog was not as innocent as he thought. Darren told the golden dragon about how he had forced the black dog to show him the way.

"Brat, you were fooled. That black dog is insidious and cunning. He deceived you into coming here on purpose."

"But why did he do that?" Darren couldn't figure it out.

"Why? Because he is that traitor's slave!" the golden dragon roared angrily.

"Oh? What do you mean?"

With a sigh, the golden dragon calmed himself down. He began to tell Darren the story.

It turned out that a long time ago, the golden dragon and another powerful warrior were followers of a peerless master.

However, the peerless master died. Both the golden dragon and the other warrior took it upon themselves to protect their master's wife.

The master's wife had once heard that there might be in existence some time-space whirlpools that could bring the dead back to life in some historical relics. After struggling and searching for a long time, she finally got her hands on a relic.

Of course, the golden dragon and the other powerful warrior went with her.

However, after entering the relic, she discovered that the time-space whirlpool could not bring the dead back to life. No one knew how to control the time-space whirlpool, and time was chaotic within it. Only an idiot would believe that it could bring the dead back to life.

The master's wife was not surprised by this. After all, the Time Law was the most powerful and most mysterious law in the world. Even the chief gods couldn't control it.

The experience tainted her. She decided to leave the relic and live in seclusion for the rest of her life.

All of a sudden, however, a powerful creature appeared inside the relic. He introduced himself as the "Evil Deity," a soul left behind by a human being of the Archean Age.

He had been stuck in many time nodes, which allowed him to survive for many years.

After he appeared, he attempted to grab the body of the master's wife. The golden dragon and the other powerful warrior risked their lives to protect her, and both of them were almost killed by the Evil Deity. The other powerful warrior pledged his allegiance to the Evil Deity in order to spare his life.

The Evil Deity agreed and ordered the powerful warrior to kill the master's wife.

The golden dragon was so angry at the time that his heart ached. However, he was severely injured. He could do nothing but watch as his so-called friend attacked the master's wife. However, just as the powerful warrior was about to kill the master's wife, something remarkable happened.

It turned out that the master's wife was not a delicate and weak woman. In reality, her true combat power was far beyond that of the golden dragon's and the other powerful warrior's combined.

She slapped that powerful warrior away with her palm, and she fought the Evil Deity head on. Their battle raged on for three months.

However, in the end, the Evil Deity defeated the master's wife.

The master's wife had no choice but to flee, and she took the golden dragon with her. They hid somewhere they could not be followed. Many years later, the traitor came back.

He looked pitiful, tortured every which way and beaten black and blue. He knelt down in front of the master's wife and begged for her forgiveness, tears streaming down his face. He said that he had just pretended to surrender to the Evil Deity, and he had planned to launch a surprise attack against him.

The traitor knelt for three long years, but the master's wife did not budge. However, she recalled the time when the traitor was a follower of her husband, and her heart softened. She allowed the traitor to come back.

Many years later, the master's wife was no longer wary of him and treated him like her own kin. However, the traitor duped them once more. He pretended that he knew of a safe place to take the master's wife and the golden dragon to. However, he led them straight to the Evil Deity.

The Evil Deity captured the master's wife and imprisoned her on a star.

As for the golden dragon, he was deceived by the traitor's black dog and had been locked in this hall since that day.

Darren and the dragon ancestor were both speechless after hearing this. Anger boiled in their hearts.

"Sir, why didn't they kill you?" Darren asked the golden dragon, curious.

Before the golden dragon could say anything, the dragon ancestor beside him spoke. "It is not that easy to kill a five-clawed golden dragon. Unless the so-called Evil Deity has the fighting power equivalent to that of a supreme god, they can't destroy the golden dragon's indestructible body."

"Yes, they were not able to kill me. They could only imprison me."

"Then what about your master's wife, sir? She has been imprisoned for so many years, I'm afraid..." Darren couldn't bear to say it out loud.

"No way! My master's wife has an eternal immortal body, which is even stronger than my indestructible body. As long as she doesn't voluntarily seek death, the Evil Deity will never be able to occupy her blood body," the golden dragon said.

In those moments, Wind and Rain flew over.

"So, Mother is still alive! That's great!" The two siblings were so overjoyed that they burst into tears.

"Mother?" The golden dragon looked at the straw man and the straw girl in confusion.

"Oh, I remember! Back then, when that traitor and I were immersed in cultivation, my master's wife created people out of straw. You two must be some of the ones she made!"

"Yes, Mother gave us lives. But why haven't we seen you before?" As far as Wind and Rain could remember, they had spent a great deal of time with their mother, but they had never seen the golden dragon or anyone else.

"The traitor and I always cultivated underground. That's why you have never seen us before," the golden dragon explained.

Wind and Rain nodded.

"Sir, who was your master? Why did he die?" Darren was curious as to what kind of great master was able to recruit the golden dragon, who was a dragon leader, as his follower.

"That's a question, golden dragon. We dragons are a proud race. How could you recognize anyone else as your master and bow to him? Who was he?" the dragon ancestor said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "Uncle, my master was really something. His name was Alfredo Chu. He not only saved my life many times, but he also once broke into the Kingdom of the Chief Gods. Unfortunately, however, he was later suppressed and killed by several chief gods working together. He was truly a peerless warrior. Following such a man is not a disgrace to our race!" The golden dragon looked regretful as he spoke. The dragon ancestor nodded silently, understanding the golden dragon.

'Alfredo Chu? Alfredo Chu!'

Hearing this name, Darren's heart beat wildly. It was difficult for him to calm down, and his breath came out in short, ragged huffs.

If he was remembering correctly, the most powerful Defiant Master of the Chu Clan was named Alfredo Chu. He was a legend! The golden dragon said that his master had once broken into the Kingdom of the Chief Gods. Since the Primitive Wilderness came into being, who else had broken into the Kingdom of the Chief Gods except Alfredo?

There was none, so it had to be him! The most powerful member of the Chu Clan!

"So he was a member of our clan. He was really one of us!" Darren murmured to himself, trembling with excitement.

"Brat, what did you say? Are you a descendant of the Chu Clan?" The golden dragon stared at Darren calmly. He was not that excited, because countless years had already passed. Even if Darren was really a descendant of the Chu Clan, his bloodline must be very weak.

"Yes, I am a descendant of the Chu Clan," Darren said, nodding.

"Well, what a coincidence. You have some potential. Follow me, and I will treat you well because you belong to the Chu Clan," the golden dragon said lightly.

Thwack!

The dragon ancestor hit the golden dragon's head with his finger.

"What are you talking about, you brat? Darren is my friend. Why should he follow you?"

The golden dragon scratched his head, embarrassed. "Uncle, I'm sorry. I've got it wrong..."

"Sir, the golden dragon is much more powerful than me. I won't complain if he wants to protect me! Ha!" Darren chuckled.

"Speaking of which, the Chu Clan has really suffered a lot. Now, the task of reviving the Chu Clan is on my shoulders. Without the help of the golden dragon, I'm not confident I can succeed," he added. The golden dragon gave Darren a disdainful look.

"Darren, you can't go too far. In front of my uncle, I can be viewed as your peer. However, from the perspective of the Chu Clan, you should view me as your ancestor, right? You are just a young descendant, but you said you must play a leading role. It's really hard for me to hear that." The golden dragon despised Darren from the bottom of his heart. If it weren't for the dragon ancestor, he would have slapped Darren silly. He believed that Darren didn't show enough respect to him. 'Is it really you who will revive the Chu Clan?'☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
