Chapter 17: Elusive Intentions

Chapter 17: Elusive Intentions.

Melissa's POV

"Sit still," he instructed.

He chose the horse that suited me best.

As the steed began to gallop, he was surprised by how adept I was at riding.

With that thought in mind, he abandoned his own horse and swung himself onto my saddle.

"Don't twist around," he warned, one arm around my waist while the other gripped the reins tightly.

The warmth of his embrace enveloped me, and the scent that radiated from him brought a sense of security.

"The northern borders are blanketed with snow year-round. It's truly beautiful here. My region doesn't have so many mountains."

Looking at the view before me, I felt my heart open up, more at peace.

"You have experience as a Luna, and I believe with you, the North will only grow stronger. No matter how beautiful the landscape, in my heart, it doesn't compare to you."

He leaned close, his voice soft against my ear.

"Thank you."

I rested my head on his shoulder, trying to read into his words.

"Besides Elliott, is there anyone else?"

He asked, and I shook my head.

"No, he was my first love and only man."

I'd always been honest about my feelings; even if I didn't say it, he could likely replace out in other ways.

"A woman as remarkable as you must have a line of admirers stretching all the way to the

moon.

Sebastian nodded in satisfaction, his throat moving slightly as he swallowed.

I turned my face slightly, my nose touching his, and Sebastian gently rubbed his cheek. against mine, softly caressing the skin, his gaze intent as he whispered his question to me. "Do you like it when I'm like this with you?"

I didn't speak, just nodded gently.

"Next, I'll train with you and my team. Think you can handle it?"

"My strength may not be the greatest, but my mind is far sexier than my muscles.

At that, we laughed together.

"Don't worry, I'll personally train you."

I hadn't expected Alpha himself to teach me, and it caught me by surprise.

Although Elliott doted on me in that way, he didn't want me to become a well-trained

warrior.

But Sebastian understood what I truly wanted. Thinking of this, I leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

Sebastian paused, surprised, but then, with my low hum, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close, capturing my lips in a deep, fervent kiss.

His hand held the back of my head firmly, drawing me into his embrace, leaving me utterly melt in his

grasp.

The sensation of him prying open my lips made i fluid.

I instinctively reached for his lower back, but Sebastian stiffly let me go.

"The wind's strong here. We should head back."

It was clear-I'd been rejected.

Why didn't he want to touch me? I'd even taken the first step, ready to embrace him....

On the way back, my thoughts swirled, disappointment evident on my face.

Was he just playing with my emotions? I despised such behavior.

"Wait a little longer. Once you've fully let him go, we'll begin."

On the way back to my room, he suddenly spoke and left after leaving those words.

I was somewhat incredulous. He could accept Lydia, but not me? Could it really be because I'm a "used good," or did he prefer virgins?

Phoebe called me for dinner mentioning that Kala seemed in a foul mood.

Hurriedly, I threw on an oversized shirt, barely drying my hair before rushing with her to the dining hall.

they choose."

Martell approached with food, looking confused about what was bothering Kala.

"During this period, Alpha will be busy. He just called for Lydia and I don't know what they're up to. I... Ah! You crazy woman!"

Kala couldn't understand why this fool was so oblivious to the mood-why say such things. now?

I felt a surge of anger. He rejected me because of Lydia, after all.

Just when I thought my heart was beginning to heal, it shattered once more.

Before I knew it, I found myself standing in front of Sebastian's office.

Maybe they were together in there-I should just barge in.

But as I raised my hand, my courage failed me.

Back in my room, Sebastian's voice suddenly echoed in

my mind.

"Why didn't you come down to eat? Training starts in the afternoon, so you should eat

"I was a bit tired. I ate something light," I replied, and after that, there was only silence from him.

He was probably busy with Lydia, wrapped up in their own world, too preoccupied to care

about me.

I patted my cheeks, trying to shake myself awake. Clearly, I'd been overthinking, imagining I held some special place in his heart.

Kala was right-I needed to know my place. I was just a secondhand Luna. Who would truly treat me with sincerity?

I changed into my training clothes and prepared myself.

Passing by the tower, I thought of that girl again. My feet stopped on their own, and I walked inside.

Was I really so out of it back then? I began to doubt myself, wondering if Mignon had been nothing more than a figment of my imagination.

"What are you doing here?"

Lydia appeared, carrying a basket, her surprise evident when she saw me.

"Just passing by on a walk."

Today, she looked different, dressed in a style that had been popular a few years back.

So, Sebastian wasn't with her?

Curious as I was, I kept my expression neutral. I refused to give this woman any reason to feel proud.

"The tower is where all the secondhand trophies start out. Are you still so attached to it that you want to go back?" Lydia sneered at me, determined to reclaim her recent losses in pride.

"It has nothing to do with you. If there's nothing else, I'll be going." I turned to leave, but Lydia called after me loudly.

"I'm having lunch with the Alpha. It's not something you're allowed to disrupt, so leave immediately. If you don't want to go the whole day without seeing him, I suggest you interfere."

Faced with such a threat, my anger reached its peak.

I felt a strange urge to cry, not out of grievance, but from a mix of heartache, pride, and a myriad of complex emotions churning within me, leaving me deeply unsettled.

I refused to believe Sebastian would cancel our training because of her, but disappointment struck hard when his voice sounded in my mind around I p.m.

"There's a lot going on today. We'll resume training tomorrow."

I laughed bitterly at myself, surprised I still had any expectations left for him.

Seeing Lydia so elegantly poised today, I imagined he must be completely lost in her

charms.

I asked the kitchen to send a bottle of tequila to my room.

The burning taste brought me a strange kind of clarity, making me feel slightly better.

It was the first time I'd drunk this much, and I began to understand those who used alcohol to numb their pain.

I lost track of how much I drank, feeling my body grow light, as drifting away.

The next morning, I struggled to get up, my head throbbing painfully.

To my surprise, the first thing I saw was Sebastian's face.

When did I end up in his room?
