Nora's POV

"Tell me you are joking?" I asked with bewildered eyes.

"Why should I joke about that?" Dora asked, her gaze fixed on the road. "It's a big party. We get to see the top men and women of society." She spoke excitedly while I just turned numb.

I knew I would see him, but I did not expect to see him at his welcoming party. I had no idea he was even hosting one. "Shit!" I blurted out and got her attention. "What's wrong?" She asked but didn't get a response from me.

"Are you worried because there will be lots of people there?" She asked, while I responded with a frustrated sigh and shut my eyes. "Don't worry; everything will be fine." Lolita encouraged.

"You don't have to worry. You are with me, and no one will dare bully you." Dora spoke in her usual comforting manner.

I didn't say a word; instead, I went into deep thought, thinking of the worst that could happen. Perhaps he would publicly reject me if he gets to see me. Such a thing would destroy my wolf, and I didn't want her to go through this. "Nora, are you okay?" Dora asked, and I responded with a nod with my eyes still closed.

The drive was silent except for the music playing on the radio.

After a ten-minute drive, Dora parked in front of the biggest hotel in our pack. "I wish they held the Party at the mansion," She murmured as she put off the car engine.

Dora stared at me with a questioning look before speaking, "Are you sure you are okay?" She asked and got a nod from me, "You know me, I'm just scared of the crowd." I mumbled and felt her hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, no one will notice you, and if anyone does, then it's certainly an admirer," She teased while I scoffed and opened the car door.

We both exited the car, walked through the entrance door, and made our way to the reception hall where the party was being held.

I could feel my heart racing as we approached the reception hall. I was scared and terrified of seeing him. "He is our mate; you shouldn't be scared of him." Lolita's words of encouragement made me suck a deep breath and compose myself.

We got to the entrance door of the hall and got checked by security before going in. When we stepped into the hall, I felt my feet stuck to the ground, and I couldn't move. I was scared, scared to walk further. "Don't be scared. Let's go," Dora said and took my left arm. She made me walk with her while I moved my gaze around, staring at the caliber of some guests. By their clothes and expensive jewelry, one doesn't need to be told they are rich. I moved my gaze and saw a few pack members I could recognize. They all wore big smiles on their faces, chatting with each other.

"This will be fun," Dora spoke excitedly while I hummed and took a glass of wine from a server. Nervously, I gulped a large quantity into my mouth, getting the suspicious gaze of Dora. "Why are you so nervous?" She asked with a questioning look, "Because I'm not used to things like this." I responded and took another sip of my drink.

"Be good; everything is going fine," She said and gently tapped my left shoulder.

Only if she knew the actual reason for my worries.

I took another sip of my drink while I stared at the dancers entertaining the guests. They danced marvelously well, but I didn't feel entertained. I was so nervous and restless.

A server walked by, and I took another glass of wine. Just as I was about to take a sip, a robust and manly scent hit my nose. He smells like fresh patchouli mixed with fresh woods. Throughout my life, I haven't perceived anything as fascinating as this. "Mate is here!" Lolita howled in my head, causing a cold shiver to run down my spine.

Just as I was about to compose myself and give Dora an excuse so that I could use the restroom, I saw Alpha Leo walking through the entrance door with two men behind him. One I recognized as Beta Jayson and the other, perhaps his bodyguard, not like he needed one, considering the rumors about his incredible gift of strength.

I watched him take more steps, but stopped and scanned the room, probably looking for someone. He stood at that spot for a moment before he continued walking until he got to the stage. Slowly, I moved from beside Dora and stood behind her, and luckily, she didn't notice it because her gaze and attention were fixed on alpha Leo, standing on the stage.

"Good evening, everyone." He spoke through the microphone, and I could swear his voice sent a cold shiver down my spine. This was the first time I heard him speak. He has a deep, husky voice that speaks power and dominance. "Thank you all for coming here to welcome me back home. As your alpha..." he kept talking, but I didn't pay attention to his words. Rather, I peeped through Dora and stared at him.

Indeed, the rumors about him were true. He was a god in human form. No wonder girls would always talk about him.

He's undeniably handsome, with a chiseled jawline and a piercing gaze that hints at his confidence and power. His perfectly toned body is accentuated by the sharp lines of his suit, which adds to his already impressive stature.

His hair is a shade of blonde that sparkles in the light, and his eyes are an intense green that feels like they're looking right through me. He was the perfect blend of sophistication and raw sex appeal. It was impossible not to be drawn to him at first sight. There's an aura of authority around him that commands attention, and I replace myself itching to know more about this enigmatic alpha.

"Enjoy the night." He ended his speech with those words and went down the stage.

"What are you doing behind me?" Dora questioned, as she turned to me. "Nothing." I responded and stood beside her. "Are you okay? Is someone making you uncomfortable here?" She asked, and just when I was about to respond, my eyes instinctively met with the piercing and intense gaze of Alpha Leo. I felt a shiver run down my spine as his hateful glare was filled with disgust.

I knew from his expression that he despised me with all of his being. His eyes were like two burning coals, radiating an intense heat that threatened to consume me. I could feel my breath struggle in my chest as he held my gaze without looking away. A lady was talking to him, but his attention and eyes were on me.

"Get out of here." I heard his voice in my head, causing panic down my spine.

"I won't repeat myself, leave," He yelled through mind link and this time he wasn't looking my way; instead, his gaze was on the lady talking to him.

"Now!" He ordered furiously, and out of impulse, I turned around to leave, rushing through the crowd. But as I hurried away, my foot caught onto something, and I lost my balance and tumbled to the floor with a loud thud.

Pain shot through my limbs as I landed on my side, causing me to gasp in agony. As I lay there, dazed and disoriented, I realized that everyone in the party was staring at me.

Embarrassment flooded me, and I tried to get up, but my legs wouldn't obey me. I could feel my cheeks burning in shame as I realized I had the attention of everyone at the party. "Take my hand?" A man dressed in a black suit, muttered as he stretched out his hand for me to take.

Embarrassed at the situation, I took his hand, and like a child, he easily lifted me to my feet with an expressionless look on his face. "I hope you didn't do this to get my attention." He spoke not in a teasing manner but in a serious tone which got me confused. "Greetings, I'll take her away," Dora said, and quickly I took my hand away from his.

As Dora led me away, I couldn't help but ponder on the man's words and why he would think I fell before him just to get his attention.

"Are you okay?" Dora asked as we exited the hall, "Yes, but who was that?" I asked, and saw the stunned look on Dora's face. "You don't know him? Tell me you are joking," She said while I shook my head, confused. "Who is he?" I asked again, eager to know him. "He is Lord Madison, Lord of the hybrids and cousin to Alpha Leo."
