Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 101
Alpha Leo's POV
When I woke up, I met Mother seated by my side, a book in her hand as she read. Slowly, I got up and sat up, shifting Mother's gaze to me.
"You are awake," she said with relief, while I nodded and took a deep breath. "How are you?" she asked worriedly.
"I'm better, Mother. You don't have to worry about it," I told her and left the bed.
"How long have I been asleep?" I asked while walking to get a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Since yesterday noon," she announced, and I nodded and gulped the water into my mouth. I turned to Mother, who wore a worried look on her face. "I'm fine, Mother. Go back to your room and rest," I pleaded, and saw her hesitate for a moment before standing to her feet. "Call me if you need anything," she said, and I nodded.
After she left, I took my bath and dressed up, but neither I nor my wolf talked to each other. I took the stairs down to the sitting room and met Maddison and Nora on their way up the stairs. "Mine!" Ethan howled possessively, but I ignored him and composed myself.
"You are awake," Maddison spoke, and I nodded.
I looked at Nora's direction and noticed something odd-she couldn't look me in the eyes.
"Thanks for the help," I said, and Maddison nodded.
"We are glad that you are okay," he said, and I nodded. "I'm going out into the woods," I said and began walking away, ignoring the ache in my heart.
Without looking back, I left the mansion and did not bother to take the car; rather, I went on foot.
I jogged for a while and entered my personal woods. I undressed and shifted into my wolf. I raced around the woods, trying to take a certain someone out of my head, but it was useless. She kept invading my memories, making me go insane. Unable to bear it anymore, I shifted back to my human form, dressed up, and walked back to the mansion.
When I arrived at the mansion, I met up with Jayson, who smiled and unexpectedly gave me a hug. "You scared the shit out of me. Don't you dare do that to me," he warned, and I weakly smiled and pulled away.
I was about to ask him a question when the alluring scents of Nora hit my nose, announcing that she was still in the mansion.
"Maddison and Nora are still here?" I asked, and he nodded. "But it's just Nora, and she's in the library," Jayson announced, and I hummed.
I took the stairs, aiming to ignore her presence and go into my room, but I found my legs disagreeing with me and leading me to the library instead.
I pushed the door open and stepped in. When I got in, I saw Nora seated on the couch reading a book. She lifted up her eyes and met mine, but I quickly looked away and moved away from the door.
I walked to the shelves and picked up my favorite romance novel, "A Forgotten Night with the Lycan King."
I walked back to the couch and took the seat opposite her, seeing her fixed gaze on the book in her hands, but I knew she wasn't actually reading.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to break the silence. "Nora," I called, and she slowly lifted her head to hold my gaze.
While holding her gaze, I came to realize why she was acting strangely towards me. "You two had sex again."
"We..." she gulped and didn't know what to say.
"There is no need to lie or defend yourself," I spoke, while my heart ached, but I ignored it and continued speaking. "Nora, I think..."
"No, Alpha Leo, I don't want to hear it," she spoke up quickly.
"What are you saying, Nora?" I said in a frustrated tone. "Maddison already has you. You bear his mark, and you two have mated not just once but twice. That is not a mistake but a sign to show you that I should be the one out of your life," I spoke in a frustrated tone and got up on my feet.
"Reject me, Nora," I ordered, forcing a painful gulp down my throat. I knew I would live to regret what I was about to do for the rest of my life, but I knew this would be best for everyone, and Nora could move on and have a happy family with Maddison, something I couldn't give her.
"No, Alpha Leo," she said, getting on her feet. "I won't reject you." She said, but I took a deep breath, gathering myself for what I was about to say.
"Stop acting like a selfish bitch," I snapped and saw the hurt in her eyes, but I went on. "You can't have two men in your life, and you of all people should know that, unless you are enjoying this charade," I said and saw her fume with pain and anger. "You think I'm enjoying this charade?" She retorted, her voice trembling slightly. "You have no idea what I'm going through, Alpha Leo. You have never understood."
Nora's words hit me like a punch to the gut. My heart ached, but I refused to let the tears welling up in my eyes fall. I had to stay strong.
I scoffed, my face contorted with bitterness. "And Maddison does, is that it? He's so much better than me?"
"Yes!" she exclaimed, her voice breaking. "At least Maddison tries to understand. He listens to me, respects me, and doesn't push me away every time he's overwhelmed with his own emotions."
I was taken aback by her words, but I composed myself. "If you believe that, then reject me, Nora. Set us both free from this mess."
"You think it's that simple? That I can just erase my feelings for you? I can't, Alpha Leo. It's not that black and white," she yelled in tears, tearing my heart into pieces.
It was a bittersweet experience for me. To hear her confess her feelings to me, but then I knew I shouldn't be with her. All of this was taking a toll on her mentally, and I wanted to set her free.
"I will reject you, Alpha Leo," she said, her voice steady but filled with anger. "But not now. Not when we're both hurt and confused." I watched her take a deep breath and continue. "When the time is right, when we're both ready, I will make that choice." With that, she turned and stormed out of the library, leaving me standing there.
My heart was heavy with pain, but I knew deep down that I had to give her up, even if it's at the expense of my own happiness.
With a heavy sigh, I sat on the couch and picked up the book, hoping it would clear my head of the worries around me, and it did work.
I was engrossed in the book in my hand when I noticed the door open and shifted my attention to it, seeing Maddison enter. He stepped in and closed the door.
"Nora isn't here," he asked.
"No, she left few..." My words got stuck in my mouth when I suddenly felt discomfort. I met Madison's gaze and saw the discomfort in his eyes as well. "Nora!" We both called out.
