Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 128
Lord Maddison's POV
"It's not because of the baby, I've just grown to love you and..." She stopped as she lowered her head, her eyes moist with tears. I was glad to hear her say that to me, and my heart started racing. For a moment, I wanted to go to her and hug her, but I held myself back and sighed. I shouldn't believe what she said that easily.
I knew very well how hard it is for one to fall out of love with someone and love someone else so fast, especially when the mate is still very much alive and around you. Hearing her say that made me feel happy yet sad because I knew it wasn't right. "Are you saying this because you don't have another choice? Because the pregnancy won't let Leo accept you?" I asked her, and I saw her tears fall from her eyes, which broke my heart. She was sad and disappointed in what I said, and it made me regret asking her such a thing, but there was no way to take my words back. So, I could only stare at her as I waited for her to reply to me.
She pulled out a seat and sat down in front of me. "Do you think I don't have a choice because I'm carrying a baby?" she asked me, but I said nothing as I was guilt-tripped. She sucked in a deep breath, wiped her face, and smiled. "I have a lot of choices, Maddison because I'm still very young. About Alpha Leo, I don't wish to ever return to him again, and that's only because I've given my heart to you. Staying with you after our marriage has made me lose control of my heart, and I've grown to love you, Maddison," she explained, and I could see the pain in her eyes. She was pained, and she looked as if she wanted me to believe her, but it was too much to believe, and I didn't want to be fooled.
I stood up from my seat and turned my back. "I don't know about what you are saying, but it is hard to believe," I replied, and with that, I left the dining and found my way to our bedroom, leaving her sitting there while she stared at my back without saying anything. I got to our room and entered. "Maddison, have you finally lost your mind? Don't you think you can lose her this way, or have you decided to let go of her for real?" Darin questioned, and I grumbled. It was true that I didn't want to let her go, and Darin knew about this, but my reaction these days seemed to have surprised him a lot. He understood when I said I wanted to be chased, but maybe I was already taking it too far.
I shook my head and sighed. "She promised to win my heart again, and I expect her to keep doing that," I replied childishly to Darin. "Win your heart? How can she do that when you keep saying hurtful words to her every day? You keep hurting her, and you think she won't leave?" Darin questioned, and for a moment, I couldn't say a word, but it soon came back to me, and I frowned. "Winning her heart wasn't easy for me, and I believe she knows that too. She promised to win my heart, and she should put in the effort. I want to enjoy being chased too," I revealed my childish desire to Darin, who groaned. "You are turning this into a game, Maddison, and I hope you won't regret this," Darin replied to me, and I sighed. I was scared too, I was scared of the decision I might make while I kept seeing her face every day like this, and I wanted to think well before making a choice, but I enjoyed this moment. Seeing her striving so hard to win my heart was fun.
The door opened, and Nora entered. She looked at me without saying a word and closed her eyes. She opened them back before walking past me, and she stopped in front of the bed. With her back turned to me, she started removing her clothes, and my eyes widened! It wasn't the first time this would happen as we were married, but I felt like it was the first time, and my mind was going crazy too. She removed the hoodie, remaining only her bra on her chest, and she also went ahead to remove the baggy trousers, revealing a sexy, flawless, and curvy shape to me.
My body shook violently as I stared at her lustfully. My desire for her grew, and I wanted to have her there and then, but I had to stop myself as I was already walking toward her without my consent. My body was acting on its own!
I ran my fingers through my hair and bit the tip of my finger to gain control of my body back before turning away from her so I wouldn't see her again.
She put on her dress and walked toward me. "I will leave now. See you tomorrow, again," she said before leaving the room, and I stood there staring at the door for minutes without moving.
Tomorrow again? A smile appeared on my face, and I was excited. Looking forward to what she would do to win my heart again tomorrow was fun, and I was curious. "This is crazy, Maddison. I hope you will realize how wrong this is before it gets too late," Darin said to me, and I knew he was angry, but I didn't care. It was my life, and I would live it the way I wanted, especially when it was getting this fun!
I walked over to my bed and laid on it. "Tomorrow, huh? Let's wait and see what she will do again, and after that, we will decide the next action to take. I will speak to her tomorrow, and maybe all this will be sorted out too," I assured Darin, who refused to give me a reply, but I was tired too. I closed my eyes and started imagining how tomorrow would be... I couldn't wait!
The night was long and tiring as I couldn't sleep much due to the different thoughts about the next day that kept playing in my mind. I woke up earlier than usual, took my bath, and left the room to start my work in the study. I had a lot that I left undone yesterday because of Nora, and I knew it was the best thing to keep me busy so I wouldn't be desperate while waiting for her.
I immersed myself in my work, and before I knew it, it was already 11:02 am. I frowned and stood up from my seat. I went into the main house, but I couldn't feel Nora's presence. Where could she be? I saw one of the maids, and I called her. "Where is your madam? Where is she?" I asked clumsily, and the maid bowed. "Madam hasn't shown up today at all, my lord," she replied, and my frown deepened. What is she doing? She was always punctual, but it was already 11, and she still wasn't around?
I decided not to think much about it and returned to my study to continue my work. I thought she would come when she was done, as she could be busy doing things with her brother. With that, I was able to continue my work again, and time started ticking by. Faster than ever, it was already 1:38 pm, and I frowned again. Where is Nora? I was still thinking about leaving my office to see if she was around when I heard a knock on the door. "Come in," I said, as I already knew it was one of the maids. "My lord," the maid greeted, and I nodded before she walked toward me and dropped the tray on the table.
"This is your tea, my lord," she said, and I nodded again as I carried the tea and sipped it. "Where is your lady? Is she around?" I asked the maid who shook her head. "Madam hasn't come around at all today, my lord," she explained, and I groaned. It was getting late, and she still wasn't around. I hope she hasn't given up yet... I was worried, but I shrugged it off. "You can leave now. Take the tea with you. I don't need it," I said to the maid. I had already lost my mind as worry was creeping into my thoughts already. It was almost 2 o'clock, and she still hadn't shown up. It was unlike her, and it made me wonder if she had given up or not. I was curious, but there was no one to talk to, and what was worse, Darin ignored me as if it meant nothing to him, leaving me to worry all by myself. I looked at all the files I had attended to for the past few hours and sighed. I returned to my work, hoping she would come soon.
A few hours later, I checked the time, and it was already 4:00! I stood up from my seat and started pacing around the room. It was obvious she wasn't going to come for the day, and I was worried. Not knowing what to do, I decided to connect with Maxwell through the mind link.
"Maxwell, how are you doing?" I asked awkwardly. "I'm okay, lord Maddison" he replied coldly, and I sighed. "Is Nora okay? I just want to check up on her," I said calmly, but I felt very embarrassed, especially because I knew how angry Maxwell was at the moment, and it was all my fault. "Nora isn't at home. She has made a trip to the Full Moon Pack," he replied and my heart ponded in my chest.
