Not His Type Of Mate
Chapter 132

Lord Maddison's POV

I was angry, my blood was boiling, and I found it hard to control my emotions. Seeing her stuttering made me even angrier, as it was obvious she was admitting to doing something wrong. She couldn't even form her lies well; instead, she was just stuttering, which irked me even more. "What did you do in Leo's house? What was your business there?" I asked, and she took a few steps back, her eyes moist with tears. "I didn't do anything there. I only spent a night, and it was in a different room," she explained. Lies! It sounded like a huge lie, and I knew it was!

I turned my back to her, grunted, and then turned back to face her. "What business did you have there?! As a married woman, what were you doing in a man's house and even spending a night there?" I questioned her with a raised voice filled with anger, and she flinched. "Calm down, Maddison. You are being too harsh," Darin tried to pacify me, but that only made my stomach ache more. "Shut up! Just stay the fuck out of this!" I yelled at him before returning my attention to Nora. "I went there to apologize to him for the hurtful words I said to him. After hearing the truth from you, I realized I should go and apologize to him because he didn't deserve all those things I said to him," She replied, and I growled.

"And you expect me to believe that? Do you think I will believe that rubbish you just said? Why did you leave the country to come here without telling me? You didn't tell me, and you still had the guts to spend the night there! What were you thinking?" I yelled at her. "Was it even necessary? Why must you apologize to him?" I questioned her angrily.

She shook her head and moved closer to me. "Can you trust me, please? Nothing happened, and sincerely, I went there to apologize to him because I knew he was angry with all I said then. The only thing he had always done was save me from danger, and he didn't deserve all those hurtful words. I'm your wife, Maddison, and he's your family, which means he is my in-law. I was just being a good wife," she said with a frustration-filled voice, and I rolled my eyes. "In-law my foot! Who asked for that?" I asked her, and she groaned. "Listen to me, please. It was..." I waved my hands angrily. "I don't want to hear a word from you anymore," I said to her and walked away from the sitting room, leaving her there.

I was too angry, and I knew it wouldn't be good if I continued staying there with her because her explanations only angered me further the more I listened to her.

I returned to my room and started pacing around. I was angry, jealous, and sad. Different mixed emotions were running through my veins, and in my mind were different thoughts too. I was frustrated and scared too. "Come back to me, please. I can't live without you, Nora." These words kept coming to my mind as if Leo had begged her to return to him or she had thought about returning to him. What if they had made up, or what if they were already planning to make up? I was scared and tired. "Don't be so scared, Maddison. I'm sure that cannot happen," Darin said to me, and I frowned. "How are you so sure?" I asked Darin, and he was silent for a while before he talked again. "Even if I don't know about that, there is one thing I know for sure, and it's the fact that you might regret this soon. You are being too harsh on her, and I'm sure your attitude will soon drive her away. Even if she loves you and wants to stay, she would be driven away by your harsh words toward her. Don't you think so?" Darin asked me, and I sucked in a deep breath. I couldn't say a word, and he continued. "You need to sit her down and talk with her. Tell her the things you want and those you don't want. You can't keep doing this." He advised, and I was silent for a while, thinking of what to do.

"I need to speak to Leo." I mumbled. "Why? Why would you want to see Leo now?" Darin questioned, but I forcefully ended the connection with him, and with that anger, I left the room and walked back downstairs, where I saw Nora sitting on the ground, lost in deep thought. She looked troubled and sad, but I didn't care as I walked past her and left the mansion. I went to Leo's mansion and was welcomed by the guards there who already knew me. Aunt also heard about my arrival and came to welcome me. "Wow! Maddison, you're here! Nora didn't tell us you came together. It's so good to see you," she welcomed me joyfully and walked over to me. I forced out a smile and nodded. "Yes. It's good to see you too," I replied dryly, and she noticed it immediately. "What's going on? You don't look pleased," she pointed out with a worried-filled gaze, but I was no longer in the mood to continue any conversation with her. "Where is Leo?" I asked her.

I was still expecting her to answer when I heard a voice from nowhere. "I'm here." It was Leo's voice. I raised my head and saw him climbing down the stairs. I continued staring at him as he got to the last step, climbed down, and walked toward me. "What's the matter?" He asked calmly.

Seeing his calm look infuriated me, and I grabbed his collar. "What were you doing with my wife?" I asked possessively, and I saw his eyes twitch. "Have you forgotten that she's a wife and a pregnant woman? She is carrying my baby in her belly!" I yelled at him, and he frowned. He freed himself from me and took a step back. "What are you talking about, Maddison? I don't understand you," he asked innocently, and my anger grew. I felt like throwing him a punch, but I held myself back. "Don't give me that crappy innocent look! Will you tell me that you don't love Nora anymore? When you saw her, did it not come to your mind that you want her for yourself? Don't you still want her to be with you?!" I hollered, questioning him, as I knew I was right. The look in his eyes when I mentioned Nora explained it all, and from that, I found out the feeling he was trying hard to hide. Leo still loved Nora, and Nora still loved him too. I felt like I was the only one losing out here, and it hurt me. Leo frowned, and his eyes darkened. "What are you saying, Maddison? Was I not the one who let her go first when I knew I still had a chance in her heart? Why would I want her back now that she is married and carrying your baby? Have you lost your mind?" He questioned, seeming to have gotten annoyed by my accusations, but I didn't care.

They were trying to make me a fool and the bad one among them, but it wasn't going to work. Why did they have to do this to me in the first place? Why did he leave Nora to me when he knew he could not let go? Why did Nora stay with me when she knew her heart would never leave Leo, and she would never love me? It was turning my head. I wanted to get answers to all these, and it was driving me crazy.

"All that you are saying is total gibberish, and I'm not going to buy it. You said you let her go when you still had a chance? So, you don't have a chance anymore now? C'mon! You and I know very well that you are not a fool, and you know what Nora is feeling about you. You know she still has feelings for you, and that's why you are trying to take advantage of this situation. Isn't that it?" I questioned him with a raised brow while I looked straight into his eyes to see how he would react, but he just continued glaring at me without saying a word.

He was angry, and I knew it. He was clenching and opening his hands as he stared at me, and Aunt came to stand in the middle with a worried look on her face. She turned to face him first and then turned to me. "You two should be calm, please. You are brothers, and you should settle this like brothers," she pleaded. She was worried that we might have to fight it out between us, and that was exactly what I wanted too. I wanted to vent my anger on something or someone, and the best person for that was the cause of it all, which was Leo. I expected him to want to pounce on me, but he only shook his head and sighed.

"I understand you are angry, and that's why you are saying all this. So, I won't take it to heart, but I want you to know that feeling so insecure can be dangerous most times. You are going to send Nora away yourself if you continue this way, but trust me, even if she leaves you today, I can never have her as my woman ever again. Because she was once yours, and you are my brother," he assured me.
