Not His Type Of Mate
Chapter 137

Nora's POV

Arriving at Maxwell's apartment, I knocked on the door, and fortunately, he heard me in time and came to open the door for me. His expression when he saw me was one of surprise and concern. "Nora, are you okay?" he asked, but my lips were trembling. I couldn't open my mouth to say anything as the shock was still with me. "Come in, Come in, please," he said as he ushered me in and made me sit on a couch. "I should get you some water," he said and hurried away to get me a cup of water. Seconds later, he returned with a cup of water, which he handed over to me, and I drank it in one go. He sat down beside me and waited for me to calm down while staring at me. I could see he was curious to know what happened to me, and he was very worried too. I pressed my hand on my chest with my eyes closed as I tried to steady my breathing. I opened my eyes minutes later and turned to face him.

"I... I thought I lost my pregnancy..." I blurted, and I saw his eyes widen for a second, confusion filling his eyes for the next few seconds. "What do you mean? You thought?" he asked, and I nodded. "Maddison got home drunk because he was angry with me, and I was trying to pacify him, but he pushed me away from his front, and I landed with my stomach hitting the table. In pain, I started bleeding, and... I was taken to a hospital where the doctor told me I had lost the pregnancy." I said and stopped to wipe away the tears that were about to enter my mouth.

"I thought I had lost it for real, and I was devastated. I was on my way to the airport when I started feeling pains in my stomach, and I decided to visit the hospital for a check-up, but miraculously... Surprisingly... The doctor there told me that I never lost my pregnancy. I don't know how it happened, and I have no idea why it happened, but somehow, I've got my baby back, and I didn't lose it," I explained as happiness filled my heart.

I was still in disbelief throughout my journey to Maxwell's house, but speaking to him like this made me realize it was real, and my baby really came back. "I even did a test... I did a scan too, and there was no miscarriage. I don't know how it happened... It was a miracle," I blabbered on with excitement in my voice.

I sat upright and fell into thought. "Wait, could it be that Maddison's healing ability worked? He tried to heal me when he saw the blood, but he thought it wasn't working, and that's why I went to the hospital. Maybe it worked? I guess it worked, or it was just a pure miracle?" I kept asking myself. This time, I was no longer talking to Maxwell but to myself, and I was thinking of many scenarios in my mind.

"What do you want to do now?" I heard Maxwell's voice, pulling me out of my trance, and I fell into another deep thought.

I thought far and wide about it, but I could only decide on one option, and I sighed. "I want to keep the pregnancy away from Maddison. A lot has happened for the past two months, and I don't think I can keep up. This book has many missing chapters and scenes if you're not reading it on [J] o bn Ib. c [o] m. Maddison has changed, and he is like a new person now. I can't go back to him anymore because I'm not sure if I can live with him," I replied, and Maxwell sighed, seemingly understanding my predicament, and I was glad he did.

"What's your plan now? Are you going to stay here?" Maxwell asked, and my eyes twitched. It was a good question I had never thought about, and I knew I had to. "I can't stay here," I mumbled, and I saw his eyes widen. "I don't want to stay here because Maddison will surely replace out about the pregnancy if I stay here. This Francisco belongs to him, and I can't afford to let him replace out. I will be leaving Francisco soon," I explained to him, and he sighed again. He was not pleased with my decision, but he didn't seem to have an option either.

"Okay, but where do you plan to go?" he asked me, and I shook my head. "I don't know. I have no idea where I can go, but I will think about it," I replied, and he sighed once more. He was quiet for a while, and I watched his expression change every second without saying a word.

He finally sucked in a deep breath and shrugged. "It is well," he mumbled, and I nodded. I stood up and carried my bag. "I want to visit Maddison's mansion, there are things I must take there. My clothes are still there too," I said to him, and he stood up. "Let me give you a ride," he offered, and I didn't go through the stress of rejecting him as I nodded and led the way while he followed closely. We entered his car, and he looked at me. "Be careful when you get there. We don't know if he is around yet or not, please," he advised, and I nodded. He started the car, drove out of the compound, and we drove down to Maddison's mansion.

We got to the mansion, and we were allowed in. The guards and maids in the mansion were all excited to see me, and they all greeted me as if I was still their madam, which saddened me. I walked into the sitting room with Maxwell, hoping I wouldn't meet Maddison, but I was shocked when I saw him pacing around in the sitting room. He was looking so down and worried, his face full of regret, and I pitied him for a few seconds. "Nora, you should tell him," Lolita pleaded out to me, and I frowned. "Tell him what? What are you saying?" I questioned with a raised brow. I knew what she was talking about, which was why I was annoyed, but I acted ignorant. "Tell him about the baby. Tell him you didn't lose it," she said, and my frown deepened. "Why should I do that? For what reason?" I questioned, and she was silent for a while as I raised my head to look at Maddison again.

He had finally noticed my presence, and he was staring at me without taking any step forward to meet up. I could see the hesitation in his eyes, and I knew he was trying hard to give me enough time and space. "He looks so miserable. He has regretted enough, and I'm sure he will cherish you more now. Just tell him and see how it goes," Lolita tried to advise me, but I only rolled my eyes. "I don't care. I won't tell him anything because he doesn't deserve to know," I replied and turned to Maxwell, who stood behind me and was waiting for me to do something. "I will go get my things upstairs. You should wait for me here," I said to him, and he nodded.

"Take your time," he said as I turned away and moved toward Madison. "I'm here to pack my things," I said to him, and he nodded. "Do you feel better now?" he asked, but I didn't give a reply as I walked past him and climbed the steps, leaving him staring at my back.

I got to the room and found it locked. Heck! What do I do? I forgot to take my key along the last time I came here, and I didn't want to go back downstairs to call Madison, but I had no option either. I kept staring at the door, thinking of a way out when I heard footsteps behind me, and I turned to see that it was Madison. He walked toward the door and opened it. "I closed it when I was leaving," he explained, but I refused to reply to him and just entered the room without even bothering to thank him. I walked toward the closet and started packing the remainder of my things in his place.

There were many things, so I had to use two big bags, and he stood by the door, staring at me without saying anything. I continued packing, and after a few moments that felt like a whole year, I was finally able to gather some of my things, and I left the room to call two maids who returned with me. "Take these bags downstairs for me," I said, and they nodded as they walked toward the bags and carried them. The maids left the room with the bags, and I followed them. I was about to leave the room when I turned back and looked at Madison. He looked pitiful, but I had hardened my heart toward him already, and I wasn't going to change that.

"Where is the divorce paper? I can't replace it here in the room, and I need to sign it today so I can be free. Will you mind handing over the divorce paper now?" I asked him, and I saw his eyes twitch. He looked around the room and closed his eyes as he sucked in a deep breath.

He turned to look at me and shrugged, "I don't have the divorce paper anymore. I've torn it and thrown it away," he explained, and I was surprised. He was the one clamoring about signing the divorce paper for days, and when I was ready, he had already torn it? It sounded unbelievable, but the paper was truly not in the room, and I had no idea where to replace it either. So, I had to believe whatever he said, and that was what I did. I cocked my head to the side and crossed my arms.

"Okay then. That means I will be the one to offer you the divorce paper. I will plan that and send it to you later, but I will sign mine first," I said to him and was about to leave when he held my hand, and I took a few steps back before removing my hand from his. "Don't touch me!" I warned, and he swallowed.

"You are my mate, Nora, and you will forever remain one. I can't divorce you or reject you because I still want you in my life. I can't let you go either," he revealed, but his tone was that of a plea. "I don't want to be your mate anymore. I will send the divorce paper as I said earlier, and you have to sign it," I warned him, but he wasn't convinced at all. He looked at me and shook his head. "I will give you enough time, Nora. One year, two years, I will give you all the time you need in this world because I know you are hurting right now and it's my fault, but after two years, I will come back for you, and we will settle all these then," he announced, and my blood boiled. I hated the fact that he kept trying to control me. "The fact that I have your mark on my neck doesn't mean you can control me. I'm leaving, and you can't hold me back. Why didn't you listen when I was begging you? I tried to explain that there was nothing between Alpha Leo and me, but you refused to believe me!" I yelled at him, and saw his eyes reddened.

"It's my fault, Nora, and I'm sorry," he pleaded and tried to hold my hand, but I pushed him back and grabbed my bag. "I'm leaving now, Madison, and I don't want to ever see you again. Don't you dare look for me, and don't dare trail me with your men!" I warned and walked away.
