NORA'S POV

A jackhammer. There had to be a jackhammer pounding in my head this very second. That could be the only explanation for this horrendous aching in my head. When I opened my eyes, I had that three-to-four-second grace period before I remembered who I was and my name. Then my body announced its condition. I was having a blinding, pounding headache, followed by a wave of nausea and agonizing cold sweats. I groaned as I sat up. Just how much wine had I had to drink last night? I tried to sit up, but my arm hurt like tiny pins were pricked into it.

As I sat up, a pit grew in my stomach as realization washed over me. I was not in my room. This room was so big and luxurious to be my room. I had no idea who it belonged to. Who did I follow home last night? I glanced around the room, but nothing in the room was volunteering any clues. Is this a hotel? Did I have a one-night stand? I looked down at myself; my clothes were still intact. Check.

There were no pictures on the walls or personal belongings to give off the kind of person I was expecting. The room was pristine. If someone actually lives here, that person must be the cleanest person on earth.

I was grateful for the dark floor-to-ceiling curtains, which were still drawn, giving the room a cozy feel. I looked at my pinching arm and saw it was bandaged.

"Oh, my God, what on earth have I done?" I said to myself and climbed out off the couch. "Nora, think, think. Where the hell am I, and where is my phone?" I asked no one in particular.

"Do you have the habit of always talking to yourself?" a deep voice asked behind me, startling me.

I spun to see no other person than the hybrid king. My jaw dropped, and my eyes widened.

"You?"

Slowly, the events of the previous night came back to me in a flash. I remember chasing after him like a desperate whore, and my cheeks flushed with embarrassment from that memory. He wore a devilish smirk, enjoying my discomfort.

"Is that the best way to thank someone that saved your drunken ass twice?" he asked. "I mean, considering the fact that you are all over me, seeking my notice."In order to avoid an incomplete reading experience, visit J Obnlb.com. I scoffed. "What? Alright, listen here, hybrid king. I have already told you that that wasn't the case. I should be worried about what I am doing in your house. Did you kidnap me or something?"

"I won't waste my time kidnapping you. You are not my type."

There it goes again. I am nobody's type, but with how sore I am feeling, I wish to reply to him.

"Aren't men like you supposed to have manners?" I asked.

“Men like me?" he inquired, cocking his brows, expecting me to explain further.

"Men with power and influence. Were you all taught to say the first thing that barged into your heads?"

"I will let go scot-free today. But you must not speak to me in such a manner again." His voice became stern and his expression serious. "Get whatever belongs to you and leave immediately, and I do not want to see you again, purposely or by mistake." With that, he left me alone in the room again. I sighed and sank onto the couch. Tears stung my eyes as memories of last night flashed in my eyes again.
