Lord Maddison's POV

I expected her to reply to me, telling me she wouldn't be my friend with benefits but something more than that. Maybe we should return to being lovers, but she instead sat up in bed and nodded her head. "Okay," she said and climbed down from the bed. She walked into the bathroom while I just sighed and looked away. "You should talk, Maddison. Tell her what you want. You can't continue being this way!" Darin advised, but that was wrong. Why should I be the one to talk when she was the one at fault this time around? "No, Nora should talk instead. I've done enough to make her realize I'm no longer angry with her," I replied to Darin, and he kept quiet.

A few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom and I entered the bathroom too to have a quick bath. I returned to the room after a few minutes of bathing, and I saw Nora combing her hair. She had worn the dress she wore earlier and was in heels too, seemingly going out. "Where to?" I asked, and she glanced at me but looked away immediately. "I'm going to a bookstore to get a book I need," she said, and I nodded. I picked up my clothes and started putting them on so I could see Julius. "I'm leaving," she said as she took her bag and left the room, leaving me to stare at her retreat as she left the room. I was done wearing my clothes too, so I left the room and decided to go downstairs to see Julius, who must still be playing with my mother.

I was at the last step when I sensed the presence of someone familiar, and my eyes twitched. I quickly climbed the last step and looked at her. "Laura?" I called, surprise on my face. I didn't remember inviting her, and I had no idea what she was doing in my house. I turned to look at Julius, who had a displeased look on his face, and I wondered what was going on until Laura turned to look at Julius and revealed a smile. "Julius, Dad is upstairs. Why did you tell me he wasn't around?" She asked Julius, who crossed his arms and looked at me. "Because I didn't want you to see my dad," he said without looking at her, and walked to my side.

I was confused. With that little display, it was obvious that Julius did not like Laura and was only nice to her then because he wanted to make Nora feel bad about what she did. I was surprised at how vicious and smart my son was, but Laura was waiting, staring at the two of us awkwardly. She wasn't a fool, so she knew Julius wasn't welcoming her and he did not like her either. I looked at her and sighed. "Julius, go and wait for me upstairs. I will come to meet you when I'm done with my friend," I said to him, and he nodded before leaving for his room.

I walked toward Laura and led her to a seat where we both sat beside each other. "I didn't expect to see you. I was surprised when I saw you, and for a moment, I thought I was seeing wrong," I needed to let her know I didn't expect her in my house and I didn't invite her either, but in a polite manner. Laura nodded. "I know, and I'm not here for that. In fact, I have a boyfriend, and I don't know how he will react if he hears about this. So, I want us to stop too," she said to me, and I was relieved.

I breathed in secretly before I revealed a smile to her and raised a brow. "It's a surprise to see you here like this, but I know you can't be here just to say hi to me, are you?" I asked playfully, and she chuckled. "No, I'm here to remind you about tonight," she said and stopped. What was tonight about? Was there a soccer or football match? No, I wouldn't miss those for anything, so what could it be? I wanted to ask her what it was, but I felt like it would make her feel bad, and it made me wonder what to do. I was still thinking of the best way to go about the matter when she spoke up. "My birthday is tonight, and I will be glad if you can come. Remember, you promised me you would come, and I will be expecting you there," she said, and I made a silent "Oh" sound as I had completely forgotten about that.

"I don't think I will be able to come tonight because I will be busy. There are things I must attend to, and I don't know how many hours that would take me," I said to her, and she sighed. "I understand," she said, and her expression turned sad. "I know you are very busy, but can't you spare me at least an hour of your time? You can just come for an hour and leave. Remember, we've been friends since childhood, and you hardly attended my birthdays. I want my other friends to know I have a Lord as a friend. Can't you honor me this once, please?" She asked, pleading with me with desperate eyes. I wanted to say "No" and let her know I wasn't the party type, but it was hard to say when she was staring at me so much.

I nodded my head. "Okay, I will try to come," I replied, and she beamed with excitement. She hugged me lightly and stood up. "Thank you very much. I should have stayed a little longer, but I have some preparations to do for tonight, so I will have to leave now. Let's see at night, okay?" She said, and I nodded. I stood up and followed her to the door. I watched her enter her car and drive out of the mansion before I returned to sit back on my seat as I waited for Nora to return. I wanted to go to the party with her as it would be proper to do so, but I waited for hours, and she didn't return. I tried calling her line, but it was off, and I tried connecting with her through the mind link, but for some reason, she was blocking me, and I wondered where she was. I knew she was fine because my wolf wasn't restless, so I wasn't bothered about her.

It was already 7:28 PM, so I decided to dress up and leave alone so I could return early too. I went upstairs and met Julius in my room. "Will you go with me?" I asked him after I was done dressing, but he shook his head. "I would rather stay at home, Dad," he said, and I sighed. He seemed not to like Laura at all.

I dressed up and drove myself down to the party. I entered and saw some people who knew me as it was a living room party, I exchanged greetings with some, chatted with some that were closer and looked around for the celebrant but she wasn't among the crowd. I was still searching for her with my eyes when I saw her come out of a room with a man, and she looked at my side immediately. She walked over with the man, hand in hand, and bowed when she got to me. "Lord Maddison, You're here. Thanks for coming." She said and I replied with a humble smile that lasted only seconds. "This is my boyfriend. His name is Larry." She introduced the man to me, and I looked at the man. "I'm Maddison. Nice meeting you." I said to the man who bowed before taking my hand. "I've heard a lot about you. My baby told me you are a very generous person, handsome and full of royalty. I can see that's right." He flattered me and I chuckled.

Laura called a server who came over and she asked him to serve me my favorite drink before she left to attend to others in the room. The server brought the drink few minutes later and I started sipping it. It took me few minutes to finish that and they brought another one which I only drank a little from. I was staring at some dancers in the room when I suddenly felt my legs turning jelly and I staggered backward. My eyes were blurry and my legs were becoming weak. I struggled to drag myself toward a seat, where I sat down and lowered my head, trying to wipe my face. Maybe I would feel better. "Darin, what's going on?" I asked but Darin did not reply me and I was frustrated.

Still thinking about what was happening to me, I saw Laura walked up to me and she asked. "What's happening?" I closed my eyes and groaned. "I don't know. I feel weak somehow, I wasn't sick before now so I don't know what's happening to my body." I said to her and she sighed. She called some men who came over and stood in front of me. "Let this men take you upstairs. I'm sure you will feel better after a few minutes rest. It might be the result of stress." She said and I felt like that could be true. The men helped me up the stairs and laid me in a bed inside one of the rooms in the house. I closed my eyes and grunted. I had no idea what was happening to me at all. I felt someone climb on top of me and I opened my eyes to see who it was but I was surprised to see that it was Nora. "What are you doing here, Nora?" I asked but she only smiled back at me and kissed me.

I responded to the kiss and we kissed for a while before she stood up again. Her face was blurry but I knew it was my Nora. She started loosening my belt and I frowned. "What are you doing? You know we can't do anything here, right? This is Laura's house and it's her party. I will just rest a little and we can go home for this, okay?" I said to her but she only planted a kiss on my lips without saying anything and continued loosening my belt. She removed my trouser. "Nora, I feel weak right now. Can we do this later?" I asked. "No, I want you now. I can't wait any longer and this room is perfect for us to do this. Don't worry, I will take control this time around. You can lay there and watch me make you moan in ecstasy."
