Not His Type Of Mate
Chapter 174

Alpha Leo's POV

I drove down to my mansion, none of my men knew I was coming, so I had to replace my way home. The drive was hectic as lots of things were going through my mind and I was bothered. Nora was someone I'd loved to be with, but Ava had given me a condition: either leave Nora and stay with her, or leave her to stay with Nora.

Nora was my friend, someone I used to love, and I still cared for her, even though I was content with being just friends. But Ava, I met her after I met Nora. Even though she was my mate, we still weren't that close, and leaving Nora for her seemed very inappropriate. I couldn't leave Nora for anyone. Although it was a decision I had to make, I still couldn't believe I'd have to lose Nora to keep Ava. I wished I could push it away from my mind as far as possible. "Welcome, Alpha Leo," my Beta waiting by the gate greeted me. My mother must have told him I was coming, as he was my closest man. I nodded and drove into the mansion, where I parked my car, and he opened the door for me to alight. "Thanks," I said briefly and stepped out. "How's home? Hope everything has been under control?" I asked him, and he nodded before bowing. "Yes, Alpha. We've been managing everything well and attended to all the clients that wanted to partner with us. Everything has been fine here, except for one client who insisted on meeting you before signing any agreement. I told them you had traveled, and we can handle it for you, but they insulted us and called us incompetent, saying they would wait for you instead." He explained, and my brows raised.

I was angry, and my blood boiled. How could some idiots insult my beta like that, only because they wanted to help me? "Tell them to leave!" I said to him and walked past him. He followed, bowing again. "Alpha, they brought business, and their share is good. What..." He was trying to convince me, but I shook my head and turned to look at him. "I'm not the type to let some scumbags look down on my men, no matter the circumstances. Those people look down on you guys, and I won't stand for it." I said firmly and turned to leave. As I was about to enter, I stopped again and sighed. "And if you're trying to convince me to meet them, you should prepare some coffins too, because I won't tolerate their disrespect." I added without looking at him and walked away.

I entered and saw my mother sitting on a couch. She stood up and walked over to me. "You're back, son," she said, and I nodded before hugging her. We broke the hug, and I smiled at her. "Yeah, Mum. It's good to be home again," I said, and we both laughed. "So, how was the trip? Was it difficult?" She asked, and I sighed. I went to a seat and sat down. "You know how it is, Mum. The trip was uneventful, and I was able to finalize things," I said to her. I was able to do what I went there to do, but why did I feel so down? My mother walked over and sat by my side. "I know how risky it was, and that's why I worried about you. You don't know how relieved I am to have you here with me now. I'm glad you're home, Son," my mother said, and I hugged her again. Breaking the hug, I kissed her forehead. "I need to take a shower," I said, standing up. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Job n Ib.com. I knew she had many questions, mainly about my somber expression and Maddison, whom she knew I would see in Francisco, where he lived. But I wasn't in the mood to discuss those things. She nodded and stood up too. "Okay, make sure you return to eat soon, okay?" She made me promise, and I agreed. I went toward the stairs and climbed them. I walked toward my room, entered, and immediately started undressing, as my shirt felt dirty, and I couldn't wait to change. I took a shower and returned to my room with a towel wrapped around my waist. I was about to remove it and start getting dressed when I sensed Ava's presence. I turned my head to see her standing by the bed. "What are you doing here?" I asked her, and she crossed her arms. "I'm here for you," she replied, and I frowned. We stared at each other for a while before I cleared my throat. "What's the matter?" I asked, hoping to bring her back to reality from whatever fantasy she was in, just staring at my abs. It was a bit embarrassing for me too.

She closed her eyes for a few seconds and then opened them, clearing her throat. She looked at my face, her cheeks turning red, which amused me. Still, I maintained a straight face as I waited for her to respond. "I had a bad dream," she finally said, and my eyes twitched. How bad could the dream have been for her to come here and tell me, especially when she claimed to despise me so much that she imposed an impossible condition just to avoid being with me? "A dream?" I asked, and she nodded. "A very distressing dream. That's why I'm here to warn you," she stopped again, realizing I wanted to say something. I took a step forward and swallowed. "Tell me about the dream," I urged, but she shook her head. "There's no need. Bad dreams should be forgotten, and there's no benefit in recounting such a terrifying dream." She said, and I let out a deep breath. As much as I wanted to push her to tell me, I figured there would be no need in it, so I decided to let it go and be myself.

"I'm here to warn you to be cautious. You need to be very careful," she said to me, and I nodded. "Okay, thanks. I'll take your advice to heart." I promised, and she let out a sigh. "I'm leaving now," she said and was about to teleport away when I hurriedly grabbed her hand. "Don't go, please. We need to talk," I pleaded, and she frowned. Her cheeks turned even redder, and her eyes darted around as if she was nervous about something. She withdrew her hand and took a step back. "What... what is it?" She asked. "Nothing, I just want to tell you something. Can you spare me a few seconds of your time?" I requested, and she lowered her head a bit.

She stayed in that position for a while before she raised her head and shrugged. "Okay, let's do that, but first, you need to put on something. I can't keep staring at you like this," she said, and I laughed. "What's there? Everything you're seeing right now belongs to you, and you can touch them as much as you want because you are my mate," I joked, and she chuckled before sitting on my bed. "Dress up first, okay?" she said with a smile on her face, and I complied. She sat properly on the bed and turned her back to me. I took off my towel and quickly put on trousers and a shirt before walking toward her. "I'm done. You can look now," I said, and she turned to face me. "What would you like to be served? A drink? Food?" I asked, but she shook her head. "I don't want anything. Let's just talk about what you made me wait for," she said, and I sighed.

I walked over to her and sat beside her. "I was thinking, Ava, don't you think it's time we settle all this and give love a chance? We are mates, and it's only right for us to be together," I tried to say to her, but she only rolled her eyes. "We are cool, but only if you do what I asked you to do. I mean, staying away from Nora," she said to me. Leaving Nora again? That seemed like something I would never do, even at gunpoint, but she wanted me to do that now? I groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. "You should know, Ava, that Nora and I aren't dating and we can never do that. She is married to my cousin, and I'm over her, but I can't leave her side because she is my friend and she needs me," I tried to reason with her, but she only scoffed. "I don't need your explanation. I know quite well that you still love Nora, and you can never get over her," she replied. Thinking about it, I felt like she was right, but I wanted to move on too, which was why I needed her in my life. I wished she would just understand.

"I loved Nora, but not anymore. The one I want to love now is you, Ava. Can you just make me do something else? I will do anything for you apart from this. Can you choose something else, please?" I asked, and she looked at me. She was quiet for a while, but she later let out a deep breath. "You mean, anything?" She asked, and I nodded my head. "Okay, can you lay down your title? I want you to follow me to Francisco and court me like a normal man. I want you to treat me like normal men treat the women they love before she agrees to be with them. You know how they pursue the girl and make her love them back? I want you to do that. Court me and let's see if that will help me open my heart to you," she said, and I frowned. It sounded more like gibberish to my ears, and I looked at her as if she was a fool.

How would I leave my pack to go for her? "You know I'm an Alpha, and I can't leave my pack, right?" I asked her, but she only rolled her eyes and sneered. "You know my ability, and you know I can always bring you here whenever your attention is needed. All you have to do is win my heart, and we will return to the pack together. Can't you do that too? You asked me to make you do anything, and you would do it," she said, and I sighed. I didn't expect her to give me this kind of condition, and it sucked, but I was already into it. "Where would I stay? My apartment?" I asked, and she shook her head. "No, you will stay with me," she said, and I sighed. "You can do that, Leo. If that's what she wants, you should do it," Ethan advised, and I sighed. "I will do that," I blurted.
