Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 189
Alpha Leo's POV
Sitting in bed, I was still settling matters with Ethan, and he was frustrating me already. I had tried my best to make him reason with me, but he was harder than I thought, and it was tiring. "Aren't you tired of staying in bed all day? You've been sitting here for four days now, and you are still enjoying this?" Ethan asked me for the umpteenth time, and I groaned. I nodded my head and forced a smile. "I'm not. I want to stop all this too and return to my everyday normal life, but I need a little more time. We should be patient a little bit more and see what happens." I said to him while I tried so hard to hide my frustration, although I was on the verge of exploding and screaming at him.
We were still busy talking about my case when a knock came on the door, and I knew it was Ava. "Come in," I said, and the door opened, revealing Ava, who had a cup of drink in her hand. "Hello..." She said as she walked over to me and revealed a smile. "It's juice. I made it myself. Mother told me you'll like it." She said, and excitement filled me. Knowing that she was making things for me instead of asking the maids to do them made me excited, but I hid my emotions well and nodded my head. "Okay," I said and stretched my hand to collect it. Her smile became wider as she moved closer and handed the cup to me. I held the cup, and mistakenly let it slip off the next seconds, and the juice poured on the ground while the cup shattered too. My eyes widened, and I looked at the floor immediately. "This..." I wanted to ask her if she was alright, but the words got stuck in my throat as I raised my head, expecting her to murmur at me. But she didn't, rather, she just kept staring at the ground without saying anything. I opened my mouth to talk instead, but my eyes widened when she suddenly bowed her head. "I'm sorry. It was my fault. I'm sorry that I didn't hold the cup well. I should have been more careful. I'm truly sorry." She apologized, shocking the daylight out of me. If anything, I didn't expect an apology from her at all, especially when it was clear that the cup fell from my hand, and that was after she dropped it in my hand. "What is going on in your head, Ava?" I wished I could ask her this question, but I knew I shouldn't when I was the one who caused all this. She let out a deep breath and bent down. "I will clean this place right away. I apologize for being so clumsy." She added and started picking up the shattered glasses.
"Why should you do that? You can call the maids to do that." I felt very guilty. Seeing her picking glasses that could injure her made me realize how messed up the situation was, and I felt bad for her. "No, I should do that myself. I will be careful." She said calmly, but that only made me feel even more miserable. I stared at her for a while and grunted. Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Jo b n Ib.com. She continued to pick the glasses, and after a while, she stood up. "I will bring something to clear the rest. I will be back." She said as she left the room, leaving me to drown in my guilt.
I wished I hadn't lied about my condition so I could stand up and help her clean, but it was complicated already, and I could only ask for forgiveness in my heart. The door opened a few minutes later, and she entered. She came back with a mop and some other things, which she used to clean the room, and returned her attention to me. "It's clean now. I'm sorry for disturbing you and creating a mess in your room." She said. I opened my mouth, contemplating telling her to stop and that it was my fault, but she interrupted me. "Should I make you another juice? The same flavor or another one?" She asked, and I sighed. "No. I don't need any juice. Sit, I want to speak with you." I said to her, and I saw her eyes light up. She quickly dropped the things in her hands, wiped her hands clean, and sat beside me. "I'm all ears." She said to me, and I sucked in a deep breath.
It was obvious that she was excited about what I wanted to tell her, which made me feel a bit bad for her, but I shrugged that off and cleared my throat. "What I'm thinking is, why don't you let us process our rejection? You can easily have a better man out there who would give you the life you want. Or what do you think? I've called several healers for the past four days, and each of them said it's not going to work. You know how powerful Maddison is, but he still can't heal me either. They all said that if I'm going to walk again, it will be a miracle, and you know miracles don't happen often. Let's do the rejection, Ava." I said to her, and I saw her eyes fall. She felt disappointed, as that wasn't what she had expected me to say, and she lowered her eyes. She was quiet for a while before she raised her head and shook her head. "I can't leave you, Alpha Leo, and I won't. I will never do that because you are my mate. I don't care what happens; I'm going to keep seeing you and being by your side. I'm not going to leave you for anything." She said, and I frowned. How could she still say that, even when I told her that I might never walk? "Do you even understand the gravity of this matter? I just told you that I might never walk again for the rest of my life, and you're okay with it? I'm crippled; I'm a crippled man, Ava, and there is nothing I can offer you anymore. We can't go to parties together, we can't go on dates, we can't go on vacations, we can't have a normal couple life in bed... I might not be able to perform well anymore. What do you think I can offer you here? There is no advantage to this relationship, Ava. No advantage at all, and no freedom either. You will have to take care of a crippled mate for the rest of your life; why don't you stop now and let's process the rejection?" I asked with fake sadness in my eyes. I was very certain that she wouldn't want to stay anymore after I had told her all the disadvantages, as I knew that it was the joy of every woman to want to show off their man, but she wouldn't be able to.
I knew Ava wouldn't be happy with any of the things I had listed, and all the plans of staying with me would have washed away from her mind. I knew very well that she hadn't thought deeply about it before, which was why she kept insisting that she wanted to stay. Even though I felt sad that she would be leaving, I was okay knowing that she never love me if she really left. While I was still thinking to myself, she raised her head, and tears rolled down her eyes. "Because I love you! It hurts. I love you so much that it hurts, I feel like I'm going to die. I've loved you for a very long time, and there was never a time that my feelings changed for you. When I saw you with Nora, when I knew you didn't love me, when I knew another woman had a bigger space in your heart than me, and when you kept pushing me away, I never stopped loving you because I love you too much. This way... I don't think I will ever love anyone else this much anymore. I can't leave you, Alpha Leo, I can't leave you at all," she said to me as she wiped her tears and put on a straight face again. She was determined, and I could feel it. I knew she would never change her mind about the decision she already made, which made me wonder what kind of person she was. What kind of woman would want to stay with a crippled man when they are so pretty and could get any man they wanted out there? I couldn't stop wondering about what she really wanted from me to make her love me so much.
"Then, will you marry me? Even though I can't walk, and I'm crippled, will you still marry me and be my wife? Would you like to be with me?" I asked while staring into her eyes, searching for any hint of hesitation that would make me understand her feelings toward me. But the way her eyes lit up... She looked confused at first, and the next moment, she jumped up from her seat and looked at me. "Are... Are you proposing to me right now?" She asked, and I nodded. "..." I was about to talk, but she hugged me tight and screamed, "Yes! YES!!!" She screamed, sounding very excited.
