Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 195
Alpha Leo's POV
Saying I was shocked after I saw Ava in my bed would be an understatement, as I found it hard to believe my eyes for some seconds. I didn't imagine she would come back for me at all, and she was looking at me with a calm face. She wasn't shouting as I would have expected her to, and she wasn't staring at me with hatred either. I sat up properly and dragged myself to the other edge of the bed. I cleared my throat, wanting to say something, but I couldn't replace the words. I just kept staring at her. I had no idea how to start the conversation, although I had a strong urge to talk to her. "Say something, Leo. You need to say something before she leaves again. We can't let her leave again this time," Ethan kept urging me to speak to her, and I tried, but I had no idea what to say. I wanted to say something, fearing she'd get angry and leave again because I wasn't saying anything. Nothing came to my mind, as I was nervous, and a bit scared of what her thoughts were. "How... How are you doing, Ava?" I stuttered after many failed attempts, and she turned her head to look at me. "I'm fine," she replied, and I nodded awkwardly.
"Can we talk? I want to explain everything to you. Can you listen to me now, please?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't stand up and teleport away again, but she just shrugged. "I'm here, I'm listening. Go ahead," she replied, and I let out a deep breath, relieved that she was ready to listen to me. "I'm sorry about what happened. I know I disappointed you, and you probably hate me now, but I'm so sorry. I was scared of making another mistake, yet I made it again. Six years ago, I made the mistake of rejecting my first mate and sent her to another man. After that, I thought I would be alone forever without any mate by my side, not knowing that the moon goddess had another plan in store for me. The moon goddess gave you to me, and I was glad and felt lucky, until you started acting as if you didn't want me. It scared me a lot. I thought you liked someone else and did not like me at all, which is why I felt so insecure. Even when you tried so hard to show your feelings, I found it hard to believe it was the truth. I made a mistake yet again, but I'm sorry, Ava. Can you please forgive me?" I explained sincerely. I kept staring at her face as I explained everything to her, hoping she would believe me and forgive me for what I did to her. I regretted my actions already.
It took her a while to finally open her mouth to say something after she stared at me for more than five minutes. "I'm sorry too," she mumbled, and my eyes widened. Why was she apologizing to me? I was about to ask her when she let out a deep breath and lowered her eyes. "It was my fault. You came to me to accept me back, but I acted like a person I wasn't. I made you see me as a bad person and did a lot of things to frustrate you. I'm not like that. The person you saw then wasn't me. I am not like that. I was just jealous. You see, you are the only man I've ever loved in my life, and I've always wanted to be with you. But I realized you liked someone else, and it broke me. The pain was too much for me to bear, but I still wanted to stay by your side, and the frustration kept pushing me to misbehave. I'm deeply sorry, and I want you to know that I might be anything but a bad woman. I love you, Alpha Leo." She confessed amidst her apology and explanation, shocking me and leaving me in disbelief for a while as I tried to process what she said.
I was about to reply to her when she lowered her eyes and sucked in a deep breath. "I know it won't be that easy to forgive me because I've messed up so many times," she mumbled and stood up from the bed. She bent her knees and was about to kneel when I grabbed her hand and helped her sit back in bed. "Don't do that," I said to her, and she raised her eyes to look at me. "I'm very sorry. Can you forgive me, please?" she asked, and I sighed. "Enough with all these apologies. We should stop apologizing to each other and instead do something to make our relationship work. We should plan out our lives together and make sure this relationship works out for us," I suggested, and she nodded her head with a big smile on her face. "I will try my best to earn your trust again. I promise," she said boldly, and I let out a deep breath. "About love, I want you to know that I love you and I trust you a lot. After all, you are my mate, and the moon goddess must have brought us together for a reason. I don't know why you haven't realized my feelings toward you yet, but I want you to know that I love and cherish you a lot. You are my woman and the one I love. I trust you a lot too," I said to her, and that was the absolute truth. I had fallen in love with her, and I realized that I trusted her too. I was only looking for a reason to deny my feelings toward her.
Her eyes widened, she gasped, and before I knew it, she wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me tightly. I happily responded and hugged her back. We were in each other's embrace for a while until we heard a knock on the door, and we had to part. "Come in," I said, as I already knew it was one of the maids. "Alpha Leo, food is ready. Should we bring it upstairs, or will you come down to eat?" The maid asked with her head bowed and unable to look at me. I looked at Ava, who was just staring at me without saying a word, and I smiled. "We will come downstairs," I said to the maid, who finally raised her head and smiled. "Okay," she said, bowed, and left the room. "Let's go and eat. Will you come downstairs with me, or should I tell them to bring your food here?" I asked her, and she smiled. "I'm going everywhere you go. I won't leave your side," she replied, and we both laughed.
We both got downstairs, and in the dining room were my mother, Madison, Nora, and Julius. They noticed our presence the moment we got there, and they all turned their heads to look at us. I could see the surprise on their faces when they saw Ava beside me. Well, we were walking hand in hand, indicating that things were fine between us already, and I knew they would want to hear the details later. Ava bowed her head to greet them all, and they all smiled back at her before waving their hands excitedly.
My seat was the biggest in the dining so I walked over and sat there while Ava sat down on the empty seat beside me, and we all started eating in harmony. We continued eating happily until Nora cleared her throat to attract our attention. "Are you okay now?" she asked, staring at Ava who nodded her head with a sweet smile on her face. "Yes, we settled it already, and we are fine now," she replied, glanced at me, and we both smiled shyly.
Ava and I were still acting lovey-dovey when Maddison dropped his spoon and cleared his throat. "Enough, lovebirds. I need to share some news. There is something I must tell you guys," he said, and we all looked at each other in confusion. But whatever it was that he wanted to tell us, I knew Nora already knew about it, as she was blushing nonstop the moment Maddison spoke up. I turned to face Maddison and gave him a questioning look. "Go ahead. I'm dying to hear the news. You look so excited," I said to him, and he chuckled. "Of course, I'm so excited. The news is that Nora and I have decided to renew our vows. We want to get married again and start a fresh life together," he announced, and my eyes widened. It was a brilliant decision, and I loved it! "This is great, congrats, man!" I cheered as I winked at him, and we both laughed. I turned to look at Ava and smiled, I stood up from my seat and walked over to her side. "Ava, dear." I called, and she hummed in reply as she stared at me with a smile on her face, and I got on my knees. I brought out the ring and presented it to her. "Will you marry me?" I asked, but she didn't let me finish my words before she said yes, and I smiled happily.
Good news everywhere! I'm suggesting that we do the wedding on the same day. What do you guys think?" Nora asked.
