Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 98
Nora's
POV
I descended the stairs and met Lord Maddison having a conversation with one of the Alphas. The moment he saw me walking down, he gestured for me to come over to him with a wave. I walked over to them, and before I could say a word, he wrapped his hand around my waist and placed a kiss on my lips before pulling away. "Alpha Grey, meet my second chance mate," he announced, and the man's eyes widened in shock.
"Are you for real?" Alpha Grey asked, and Lord Madison nodded, placing a kiss on my cheek. "Lucky bastard, this is nice," Alpha Grey said and turned to face me with a welcoming smile in his eyes. "You are beautiful. What's the name of the future queen of the hybrids?" he asked. Despite the anger growing in me, I decided to answer with a fake smile. "Nora," I responded and watched as he took my right hand and placed a kiss on it before looking up at me. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he said, and I responded with a smile.
"We have to leave. I believe Leo would be downstairs to show himself to all of you," Lord Madison said.
Alpha Grey sighed before saying, "We just want to be sure he is okay before we leave." "He is fine," I announced. "He just needs to have a proper good sleep." I said, and Alpha Grey nodded. "We will take our leave now," Lord Madison said, and led me away. We both left the mansion and entered the car, while I waited for him to drive out before I spilled what I had to say.
After a few moments of silence, he was the first to speak. "What did you two discuss?" he asked, and I didn't give a response. "Is he begging you to also bear his mark? I bet he has realized that he has lost you to me and wants to place his mark on you." "Alpha Leo is not selfish like you..." I snapped angrily. "You two are totally different." I yelled, and Lord Madison scoffed. "Of course, we are extremely different, and you of all people should know that. I'm not the one who rejected you at first sight," he said, causing my anger to flare up.
"Yes, you are right. Alpha Leo rejected me at first sight because I didn't turn out to be the type of woman he had visualized for himself. He acted out of impulse, and he is suffering for it. But apart from that, lord Madison, Leo is better than you in every aspect. If Alpha Leo was in your shoes today, he would have acted differently. He wouldn't start introducing me as his mate until I was ready for it."
I clenched my fists, feeling the surge of anger passing through my veins. Lord Madison's words had hit a nerve, and I couldn't hold back my frustration any longer. "Leo may have made a mistake in the beginning, but he has shown remorse and has been working to make things right," I retorted, my voice laced with bitterness. "Unlike you, Lord Madison, he has shown me respect and understanding. He has never forced himself upon me or made me feel like a possession."
Lord Madison's expression hardened, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. "You think I'm forcing myself on you?" he growled, his voice dripping with anger. "You are my mate, Nora. I've been patient, waiting for you to come to me willingly."
He scoffed. “Patience? Is that what you call it? Kissing me without my consent, parading me around as your 'second chance mate' without even discussing it with me first? That's not patience, Lord Maddison. That's arrogance."
He remained silent, his jaw clenched, while I continued to voice my anger. "Leo may have rejected me initially, but he never treated me like a possession to be claimed. He respected my wishes and gave me the chance to decide for myself. And now, he's willing to give me up to you."
I paused, taking a deep breath to steady my emotions. "I can't deny that there's a connection between us, Lord Maddison. I have feelings for you. But the way you're handling this situation is pushing me away. I need someone who understands my feelings and emotions, knows what to say and do at the right time."
The car fell into a tense silence until Lord Maddison spoke. "I... I didn't realize how my actions were affecting you," he admitted, his voice filled with regret. "I was only trying to show you how much I care, but I see now that I've been going about it all wrong." I sighed and looked away.
"I'm so sorry," he apologized while I rested my head on the window.
Everything that is happening is so consuming, and I don't know how much I will be able to take.
"Nora, we have to go back," Lord Maddison announced, his words capturing my attention.
"Leo has fallen into a coma," he announced, causing my heart to seize in my chest.
