Chapter 29 He Cannot Give Her What She Wants

Natalie looked at Harry, who was approaching her, with confusion. Then, she greeted. “Hi, Harry.”

Everyone in the family respected Harry. Natalie had married into the Chase family for three years.

However, she rarely saw him in person.

Despite that, she heard many good things about him. Almost everyone who had interacted with Harry would praise him.

He was completely down–to–earth as he smiled at her. “You won’t mind chatting with me, will you?”

Instinctively, Natalie glanced at the other end of the street. Harry knew who she was looking for and commented, “I’m afraid Henry won’t be coming today.”

“Huh?”

“I know there’s a café nearby. Shall we talk there?” Harry asked while looking at her inquisitively.

But Natalie was determined to get a divorce. “Harry, if you’re here to be a mediator, there’s no need for a chat.”

“Nah, I’m not really a mediator. I just want to talk to you about Henry. Natalie, can’t I buy you a cup of coffee?” Harry said with a smile.

Natalie quickly explained, “Of course, I don’t mean that-”

“Let’s go then.” He did not give her a chance to reject. Harry immediately started walking toward the cafe across the street.

Seeing that, Natalie had no choice but to follow.

After taking over the menu, he suddenly asked, “If I remember correctly, you only drink lattes. Am I right?”

She was momentarily stunned. Harry truly surprised her with his good memory. After all, they only had coffee together once.

Moreover, it was some time ago. Natalie did not expect him to remember her preferences.

She nodded in response. “Yes.”

At the same time, she thought it was ironic. Henry had never remembered what

He did not care about her. That was why Natalie’s preferences were irrelevant to

him.

“Okay.” Harry then gestured for the waiter to come and ordered, “Two lattes, please.”

“Sure, please wait a moment.” After retrieving the menu, the waiter headed toward the counter.

Right then, Harry let out a helpless sigh before saying, “I didn’t expect him to get drunk last night.”

“He was drunk?” Natalie asked as she frowned in confusion.

Harry cleared his throat and took out his phone. “Yes, I even recorded a video. Do you want to watch it?”

She calmly turned her face away, showing no signs of emotions. “It doesn’t matter if I watch it or not. It won’t change a thing.”

“Since you’re so confident, why not just watch it?” After saying that, Harry played the video and pushed his phone toward Natalie.

She squeezed her hands. In the end, her gaze still landed on the phone screen. It was her first time seeing Henry in that state.

In the video, he appeared somewhat scruffy. He had loosened his tie so it was hanging loosely around his neck. Henry’s shirt was also wrinkled.

He lay on the couch, muttering with closed eyes, “Natalie Shepherd is a foolish woman! That’s right, a foolish woman

Natalie’s frown deepened upon hearing that. She could not help but wonder if he had insulted her the whole night.

Drunken words are sober thoughts, after all.

Even when he was drunk, Henry still complained about her. It was clear to Natalie how much he despised her.

“She knows nothing! I–I didn’t order anyone to demolish the house! I didn’t…

“But in her head…” Henry pointed at his head as he spoke.

Then, he added disdainfully, “She really is an idiot!

“Why would I demolish the house? I have many other ways to make her unhappy.

Natalie’s hands that were on the table clenched slowly. Was it true that the demolition had nothing to do with him? Had she gotten the wrong idea about him this time?

“Forget it!” Henry yelled as he massaged his temples. “Why should I hold at grudge against a woman like her? She’s not worth it!”

“So, do you want a divorce?” This time, it was Harry speaking.

Upon hearing that question, Henry fell into a long silence. He was quiet for a long time, so much so that Natalie thought the video had ended.

After a while, he slowly opened his eyes. The usual coldness in his eyes was not present. Instead, Henry appeared unusually gentle.

“Do I want a divorce? At this point, is it even important? The fact is, she no longer wants to be with me… ” he answered.

Harry asked again, “If she’s willing to return to you, do you want to work things out with her?”

Natalie held her breath after hearing that. Question after question popped up in her mind.

How would he answer? Would he really want to work things out with her? But it seemed highly unlikely.

Nevertheless, Natalie did not get to hear Henry’s response. At the end of the video, he suddenly clutched his stomach. He was clearly in pain.

And after that, the video ended. Harry took his phone and explained, “He drank on an empty stomach. So, it led to gastric.

“I rushed him to Community Care Hospital last night. He’s still there now.”

Natalie lowered her gaze. She finally had a grasp of the situation. Yet, she did not comment much.

Even if the matter had nothing to do with Henry, she still wanted a divorce. Natalie no longer wanted to live a life full of ups and downs with him.

At this point, all she wanted was a peaceful life. Unfortunately, this was something Henry could not provide.

“Natalie, Henry is the typical guy who acts tough but has a kind heart. He may be dense and straightforward, which could be infuriating sometimes-

Before Harry could finish his sentence, Natalie interrupted with a wry smile, Harry, you should understand that this isn’t something that happened overnight.

“This matter is not the only reason I want a divorce. All these years with him, disappointment was the only thing I felt.”

Looking back at it now, she realized she was stronger than she had thought. How did she endure such a marriage for three years?

All these while, Natalie felt as though she was a widow. It could only mean she loved Henry more than she had imagined.

Harry nodded thoughtfully in response and did not offer any more advice. “Only the ones in the relationship can understand what’s going on.

“I don’t know the whole story, so I can’t say much.”

After saying that, Harry frowned. He was visibly worried. “But…”

“But what?” Natalie looked at him with confusion.

“He refuses to accept treatment,” Harry added. He sighed helplessly before continuing, “I’m afraid our grandparents will hear about it if this goes on.

“I don’t want them to worry about him.”

Both Owen’s and Moira’s health were not in the best condition. Hence, Natalie also hoped they would not worry so much.

“I’m thinking that maybe… only one person could solve this problem,” said Harry.

Although he did not make it clear, Natalie understood what he meant. She felt somewhat helpless and angry.

Henry was indeed stubborn. He only did whatever he liked without thinking about others.

However, she wondered if he cared about their divorce to the same extent. Did this have such a significant impact on him?

After struggling internally, Natalie decided to visit Henry at the hospital.

She wasn’t just there to persuade him to accept the treatment. She needed to have a serious conversation with him as well.
