Chapter 9 Clueless About Her Preferences
Henry ordered with an expressionless face, “I want him gone.”
Wade nodded. “Understood. I’ll handle it.”
He then asked, “Mr. Chase, do you need me to drive you home now?”
“It’s fine. You’re excused.”
“Understood, Mr. Chase.” Wade smiled briefly at Henry. Then, he turned around to leave.
A glimmer of hope surfaced in Juliet’s heart. She was secretly delighted.
She assumed that Henry had excused Wade to spend some alone time with her.
She knew he still had feelings for her.
When she saw Henry walk across the car toward the driver’s seat, she reached out to open the passenger side door.
But, a single sentence from Henry struck her like lightning.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Juliet was stunned. She quickly forced a smile to suppress her awkwardness. “A- Aren’t you going to take me home?”
“The organizers of the charity gala have arranged transportation for their guests, haven’t they?”
The meaning behind Henry’s words was clear. He didn’t intend to drop Juliet off at her home.
Juliet forced a smile. “Can’t you drive me home? I happen to have a lot to talk to you about.”
Henry opened the driver’s door. “I’m sorry. I’m really not in the mood. Let one of the charity gala’s vehicles take you home.”
Once he finished speaking, he got in the car.
Juliet’s eyes welled up with tears as she listened to the sound of the engine purring to life.
She had to clench her fists tightly in order to stop her tears from falling.
Juliet wondered when Henry had started to become so cold toward her.

She had already explained to him that she only accepted Owen’s money back then to study abroad. She wanted to become better so that she could be worthy of Henry.
That was the only reason she had left.
But why did it seem like he no longer wanted her?
Juliet watched as Henry’s car disappeared from her sight. Her expression gradually darkened.
She wouldn’t give up on him so easily this time.
After Henry left the charity gala’s venue, he immediately placed a call. “Are you free? Let’s meet at Dragon Club.”
Half an hour later, someone entered the private room that Henry was in.
“What do you have to complain about Natalie today?” Leonard Richmond asked. He sank into a comfortable position on the couch.
Leonard was already accustomed to this.
Ever since Henry got married, he always called Leonard out for a drink to rant about Natalie.
The last time they had drinks was three months ago. The reason was that Natalie had taken his innocence.
At the time, he had made fun of Henry for quite a while.
He never imagined that the invincible Henry Chase would have his innocence taken by a woman.
“She brought up a divorce. She even returned her wedding ring to me.” Henry picked up the ring on the table. He stared at it from time to time.
The truth was, Henry didn’t actually throw the ring.
Leonard furrowed his brows in confusion. “Shouldn’t you be celebrating by now? Please don’t tell me that you don’t want the divorce.”
The words “don’t want the divorce” felt like a punch in Henry’s chest.
How could that be the case?
It was impossible for Henry to not want the divorce.
He just didn’t want Owen and Moira to keep nagging him about this matter.
Henry immediately cleared his throat. He said firmly, “I want the divorce. But I

Leonard listened silently. He didn’t believe a word Henry had said.
At that moment, he shot Henry a cheeky glance. “Then why did you ask me here? Do you need advice on how to coax Natalie?”
“Coax? Is she even worth my efforts?” Henry tilted his chin arrogantly.
He continued with a dissatisfied tone, “I provided her with everything she needed. What more could she want?”
Leonard lit a cigarette. Then, he leaned against the couch lazily.
“Women are all insatiable creatures. The moment you start giving in, they demand more. For example, your heart.”
Upon hearing these words, Henry fell silent.
He seemed really clueless about what Natalie wanted.
All this time, he assumed that she married him because of the Chase family’s wealth. But sometimes, he felt like it wasn’t the case.
It was frustrating.
Seeing Henry’s troubled appearance, Leonard couldn’t help but say, “You both have been married for almost three years, right? Just get her a gift, and she’ll probably calm down.”
Henry silently took note of Leonard’s advice.
But he refused to relent. “I don’t care whether or not she calms down!”
The next day, Henry called Wade into his office.
“I want you to prepare a gift for me.”
“What type of gift do you want, Mr. Chase?” Wade asked.
Henry was taken aback. 1
He wondered what gift he should get for Natalie.
It was then that he realized that he was completely clueless about her preferences.
Seeing that Henry hadn’t answered for quite a while, Wade called out to him
cautiously, “Mr. Chase?”
Henry cleared his throat. He asked somewhat awkwardly, “What do women generally like?”

Wade scratched his nose nervously. There was a hint of embarrassment in his smile.
“Mr. Chase, I’m a single guy. I’m not really sure about these things.”
Henry was stuck in a dilemma. He didn’t know what to gift Natalie.
Suddenly, he remembered the time when he had brought her to the mall to pick out a gift for Owen. She had stared at a necklace in one of the shop windows for a long time.
Women could never resist jewelry.
As this
thought crossed Henry’s mind, he said, “Let’s go with a necklace.”
Wade nodded thoughtfully. “May I ask who this necklace is for?”
After all, the style of the necklace would differ depending on the recipient.
“Natalie,” Henry answered with an indifferent expression on his face.
Wade immediately understood. “Understood, sir. I’ll go prepare the gift.”
Two hours later, Wade placed the gift in front of Henry. “Mr. Chase, please have a look.”
Henry didn’t open the gift. He thought that it was good enough that he had prepared a gift for Natalie. He didn’t want to put in too much effort on the matter.
“Alright, you may leave.”
Wade nodded. Then, he walked out of Henry’s office.
Just as Henry was about to open the gift box, his phone rang.
It was Natalie.
A soft smile, one that he didn’t even realize, played at the corner of his lips. ” Hello?”
“Where are you?”
“Did you need something?”
“Yes, I have something to discuss with you.”
Henry raised his brows. He thought that Natalie had finally realized her mistake and wanted to seek his forgiveness.
“Come home. I have something to discuss with you, too.” Once he was done speaking, he hung up the phone.
It was about time the absurd situation between them came to an end.
Natalie was the first to return to Henry’s residence.
Returning to this place once again stirred up a mix of emotions within her.

“Mrs. Chase, have you talked things out with Mr. Chase? Are you planning on moving back in?” the butler enthusiastically asked when he saw Natalie.
