Once Rejected, Thrice Accepted -
Chapter 53
Cherry ended up staying the night after she found me crying on the floor with my three mates sitting outside the bedroom door with scowls on their faces. She did give them a piece of her mind and then sent them on their way to actually be productive somewhere. 'Luna, there was someone at the gate for you with a letter. They were from your old pack. One of the warriors linked jerking me from my sleep. 'She said her name was Olivia.
She had to mention shoving something up their b**t the next time we are screwing, and they scattered.
Olivia, like my ex- omega friend Olivia? I sat up shoving Cherry's shoulder sending her off the end of the bed hitting the floor with a snore. What would Olivia be doing here? Did Shane send her to use against me?
'Where is she now?' I linked back rushing to get dressed almost falling on my face a few times from clothes getting stuck on my foot or over my eyes. 'She can't be trusted.'
'We understand. We sent her straight to the dungeons and the letter is here waiting for you. We didn't trust something to be wrong with it so I ordered no one to touch it.' He stated emotionlessly. He was doing good at not being freaked out when everyone else would have flipped their crap if someone from that pack just walked up to the gate.
'Good job, Warrior. I will be there shortly. Please call for a few extra guards for the dungeons and the main points of our borders.' He agreed and I shut down the link.
Cherry was still passed out on the floor so I wrote a quick note on a post it and attached it to her forehead. Poor girl was worn out after all the girl talk and food we ate. The guys knocked throughout the whole night until she lost her shit. She shut the door behind her before starting in on them so I only heard a few 'ouch's' and 'Please, stop. They didn't bother us again.
I whipped the door open sending Leo and Lucas flying backwards waking them up in fight mode, but I just jumped over them and ran down the stairs. Duncan was in the kitchen with several plates of pancakes in front of him with a look of concern covering his face. "What's wrong?" Leo shouted, doing his best to catch up to me after just waking up. Lucas was right behind him.
"Olivia is in the dungeon and the letter she brought me is at the gate." I yelled back as I made my way out the door and off the porch. "I have to know what is in the letter."
"Whose Olivia?" Duncan caught up to me and handed me a coffee mug with a lid. "Good thing I was already getting this ready for you. It sounds like you are going to need it."
"Just remember this isn't going to get you off the hook, mister." I grabbed the mug and held it to my face before he even registered that I had taken it. A girl needs her coffee to function.
"I know. I will be making it up to you soon." He jumped over a log and caught back up with me. "Now please tell us what is going on."
I explained what the warrior said and a bit about how I knew Olivia. I couldn't decide if I should trust her since she stopped talking to me on the orders of her mate and did everything he asked. He could have asked her to do something bad here and back then I knew she would do it without blinking. Now, that it has been a few months since I saw her, I wasn't sure. I did know that she would have news on Lindy and that I had to have.
By the time they were caught up and they had sent a few orders out themselves we were at the gate. Two warriors were circling what looked like a letter on the ground with a few pack members nearby watching and probably wondering what the heck was going on. I was in the same boat. Did they think it was going to kill them by just touching it? Actually, it might just do that.
"Luna. Alpa's. Advisor." The warrior who linked me called out as he approached us in a hurry. "No one has touched it. I did have one of our more skilled searchers take a sniff test and it didn't smell like its poisoned, but we didn't want to take any chances." "We should run tests." Leo suggested with his eyes unwavering as he started at the letter we were all now surrounding. "Is there a chemical we can put on it to rinse it?"
"NO!" I shouted looking at him with a hard glare. "You could ruin the writing. The information could be vital. Ill pick it up and we can go from here."
"No way." Lucas chimed in. "Let me replace some gloves."
The guys were too busy making a plan to test the letter that they let their eyes leave me. Idiots. I grabbed the letter and sniffed it before ripping it open. "Gemma!" Duncan yelled, trying to take the letter from me. "Let that go. It needs to be tested."
"No. Moonlight isn't acting like anything is abnormal and I trust her. I am a lie detector and I feel like I could feel if something was off." I thought about how to word it. "Like the poison would be the truth and the unsuspecting letter is the lie. I don't know how to explain it better than that but I know in my soul its fine. Let me open it, please."
The three of them nodded, stepping closer. My hands started to shake. It was either going to contain good news or something from my parents that would be something bad enough to break me or at least their attempt at it. There wasn't anything at that pack I cared about except Lindy, the youngest of the gamma children and one of my best friends I should have brought with me. I left her like a shit friend, and I had to fix that. They knew she was my friend, and I couldn't bear it if something happened to her because of
me.
I pulled the letter out and something wrapped in a bloody napkin fell to the ground. Duncan swooped in and grabbed it. He opened it slowly, revealing part of an ear. An ear with an earring that looked like the ones I gave Lindy for her eighteenth birthday. "Oh...Oh... They.... They have her." I cried, gripping the letter closer to my chest. "They have Lindy. I got her those." I gasped, thinking of everything they could be doing to her.
"We don't know for sure." Leo tried to comfort me with lies.
"Don't", I put my hand up to him. "I am going to read this letter and then I am going down to talk to that Omega and get some answers. It will be up to her if she gives it freely or if I am sending her matching ear back to my ex-pack."
