One Girl Two Mates
Chapter 29

I woke to raised voices, the pounding in my head worsening by the minute.

"I want to talk to her." I hear a familiar British voice.

"She's been through a lot, Edith, she needs time." Diego sighed heavily.

"I don't have time, I need to know how she came back." I started to groggily open my eyes, seeing two shadowy figures standing in the doorway.

"I need to know how to get my Marjorie back." Her voice broke as she choked on her sobs.

"Diego? Edith?" I said, slowly sitting up.

"Lili, lay back down." Diego chastised me as he came to my side.

"How did you come back?" Edith asked, charging over to me, determination and hope swan in her eyes.

"The Goddess Selene sent me back." I replied, my eyes slowly adjusting to the dim room. Edith just stared at me blankly. I finally noticed the dark circles under her eyes and that she didn't have an ounce of makeup on. "She just... sent you back?" She stared unblinking.

"She told me it wasn't my time." I glanced between her and Diego.

"Tell me why you get to come back, but my Marjorie gets to rot in the morgue below us." Edith snaps, her face twisting up in anger.

"Edith that is uncalled for." Diego growled at her, pulling me close. Tears formed in my eyes at her words, the words stung deep.

"I-I'm sorry, I asked her, but she said that it was Marjorie's time." Tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Bullshit! She should still be here, what makes you so bloody special." I bit my lip, turning away from her harsh gaze. Guilt was eating away at me.

"Edith, you need to leave." Diego said, dominance rolled off of him. I refused to look at her, the pain in her eyes was too much to bear. When she didn't move Diego let out a warning growl. I heard Edith sigh and quickly leave the hospital room. Once she crossed through the doorway I broke out into sobs. Diego climbed into my bed, pulling me close.

"Shh, mi amor, it's okay." He cradled my head and brushed my hair out of my face.

"No, it's not okay." I sobbed into the crook of his neck.

"Why me? Why do I get to live when others have to die?" I wiped at the tears blurring my vision.

"The Goddess has plans for you, mi amor." His voice was soothing, but my heart still broke for Marjorie. She was such an amazing person, she didn't deserve to lose her life. I let Diego rock me back and forth until pounding footsteps caused both our heads to snap up. I saw Rafael standing in the doorway, slightly breathless and flushed.

"I felt your grief and sadness, what's wrong?" Fresh tears fell down my face and I reached out for him.

"Rafael." I hiccuped as I said his name. He was next to me in a flash, his hand grasped mine. By the look on his face and the look on Diego's face, I knew they were mind linking. Both of their eyes took on that glassy look that happens when someone mindlinks. When Rafael's eyes turned back to normal he looked away in anger, a low growl escaped him.

"Edith is grieving, she didn't mean it." I murmured, squeezing Rafael's hand.

"You are too kind, my Luna." He replied as he leaned forward and kissed my hand.

"How long have I been here?" I asked, looking between my handsome mates. They looked exhausted, dark circles lined their eyes. Their normally radiant complexions were pale and ashen.

"You've been here for about three days." Rafael said, gently stroking my hair. Three days? I've been out of it for three days? Instinctively my hand reached up to feel my chest. I wasn't in the white dress anymore, someone had put me in an itchy hospital gown. I pulled the gown down slightly to look at where I'd been stabbed. Between my breasts there was a jagged pink line. Fresh tears rolled down my cheeks. I reached around, touching my back and felt the raised line. I knew that I had a matching pink line there as well. "She missed your heart by an inch." Diego said softly, his fingers traced the scar between my breasts.

"You had a few broken ribs and a punctured lung." Rafael said, tracing the twin scar on my back.

"But your wolf accelerated your healing, we've never seen anyone heal this quickly." I nodded at Diego's words, but I was hardly listening. I still felt overwhelmingly unworthy. What did the Goddess see in me? Why did she choose me? I thought back on what she said about my future children. The ghost of a smile graced my lips and a warmth filled my chest. I may not know what her reasoning was to choose me, but I won't waste this gift she gave me. I snuggled down into my mates' embrace and just enjoyed their warmth. I heard one of my mates cleared their throat. I immediately knew it was Diego, I looked up with questioning eyes. He nodded his head towards Rafael, I turned slowly to look at my other mate. A shocked gasp left my lips when I saw what he was holding. "Lili, I know things started off terrible between us. I wasn't not a good man and I made terrible choices. I still don't feel worthy of your love, but I was hoping you would give me the honor of becoming my wife and Luna." I felt new tears roll down my cheeks as I gazed down at the ring. It was a silver crescent moon with a ring of star shaped diamonds. I felt Diego nudge me, when I turned to him another gasp escaped me.

"Mi amor, I have loved and adored you since the moment I laid my eyes on you. I couldn't imagine a life without your radiance. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife and Luna?" In Diego's hand was a gold ring, it was a half sun full of twinkling diamonds. "Yes." I choked out through my tears, my head whipping between them.

"Yes, yes, yes!" I repeated it over and over. I smiled as Rafael slid on the little moon ring and I was shocked when I realized Diego's sun ring clicked into place with it.

"It's so beautiful." My mouth was agape as I stared at the beautiful, glittering rings. It was perfect, just like my mates.

One month later

"Lili, come on, you're going to be late!" Valentina called from the other side of the door. I took a deep, calming breath. I looked myself over once again in the large, floor length mirror. I felt so small in my giant white and gold dress. It was so beautiful with its sweetheart neckline and off the shoulder sleeves. The bodice was covered in gold lace that fanned on down onto the skirt. The same gold lace lined the bottom of the full, overflowing skirt. I jumped when I heard more pounding on the door. "I'm coming!" I called out as I slowly opened the bedroom door. Valentina gasped when she saw me, holding a hand to her mouth.

"You are stunning, Lili." Tears lined her eyes.

"No, don't cry because then I'll cry." I laughed as I felt my eyes water with hers.

"Okay, okay." She took a few deep breaths and fanned her face. She looked beautiful in her lacy blue dress that clung to her body, showing off her curves. That's not the only thing it showed off. It was completely sleeveless and also had a sweetheart neckline. Her neck was bare for everyone to see, decorated with nothing, but her mate mark. I was so happy when she and Javier finally accepted each other.

"Everyone's here and your mates are waiting." She said, grabbing my hand. I followed her, my stomach rolled with anxiety. I felt my hands get slightly clammy.

Relax, baby. I heard Rafael words float through my mind.

It's going to be okay, mi amor. Diego's words floated through my mind. I smiled, feeling their presence in my heart. Valentina led me down the long, winding staircase. It was decorated with silver and gold flowers. I shook my head when I realized how much glitter is going to be all over the pack house. There was a long white, satin carpet that led all the way outside into the garden. The pack house was full of gifts and beautiful decorations. I was surprised Valentina was able to put this together so quickly. We decided to have my Luna ceremony and wedding on the same day. I was sad when I had to choose between Rafael and Diego's pack houses. But I knew in my heart I wanted to have it at Diego's pack house. It felt the most like home to me. I took a deep breath and stepped out into the magnificent garden with Valentina by my side.
