Bridget
I was in heaven, living a fairy tale. I knew that not everything would be rainbows and unicorns. While my father wasn't pissed anymore, he still wasn't happy.
Would he ever accept me and Dane? Maybe when he learned the twins were his. Or my dad could be even more upset that Dane knocked me up. But right now, in Dane's arms, everything was perfect.
He kissed me again, resuming his slow thrusts that sent deliciously sublime sensations through my body. I'd never been touched like this before. It was like he was worshiping my body. I wanted a turn to worship him. I pushed at him until he rolled onto his back, and I was on top.
"Do you still do Navy SEAL workouts?" I asked as I dragged my fingers over his hard defined chest.
His hands rested on my thighs. "Not as strenuous or as long, but I do workout. This house has a pool so I can swim, and the kids can play. We need to fence it for safety."
I loved how he was already protecting our babies.
I leaned over and licked his nipple, loving his sharp intake of breath. "You have a sexy body, Dane."
"I'm glad you think so."
I sat up and rocked over him.
He let out a low groan. "It doesn't bother you that when the twins are ten, I'll be fifty? You'll only be thirty."
"Nope." I rose up and slid down. His body arched up into mine. "Is your
family going to mind that you chose me and not Anne Francis?"
He levered up, wrapping his arms around me. "Maybe. I wish I could say for sure that they'll be happy for us. But it won't matter. My mom is eager to be a grandmother so I think these two little beings will make her forget that you're not Anne."
His lips wrapped around my nipple, gently sucking. Pleasure shot straight to my pussy.
"I'm hard as a rock, Bridget. Are you going to take mercy on me?"
"I'm going to take you to heaven." I gripped his shoulders and rocked against him.
"Yes." His fingers gripped my hips.
I started to ride, slow like he had earlier. He lay back, and his hips moved with me. His eyes watched me as I rose and fell above him.
"You're so fucking beautiful."
He made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. The most treasured one too. How I thought he would be cheating was beyond me. I'd feel guilty about that and for waiting to tell him about the babies for a long time. Luckily, I had a long time with him.
I leaned over, pressing my hands on his chest as pleasure coiled tight and I rode him faster.
"Yes, baby...more..." His hands urged me on.
The feel of him inside me was beyond the physical excitement. I felt pure joy. Like he was a part of me, of my heart, my soul.
"Aw...fuck...I'm coming..." He bucked up, filling me with the warmth of his essence.
My orgasm broke, sending me flying away in bliss. I continued to rock over him, drawing out the pleasure until completely spent, I collapsed on him.
His arms wrapped around me, tugging me in close as he kissed my temple. "I love you, Bridget."
I wasn't so fatigued that I couldn't smile. I lifted my head. "Good.
Because I love you too."
His gaze studied my face. "You have the most amazing smile. I'm the luckiest bastard to be able to wake up to it every morning."
His words washed over me, filling me with happiness I never imagined. "You are the sweetest man I've ever met."
His cheeks blushed. "Sweet?"
"Sweet and sexy and smart and hot and handsome and..." "And?" he prodded.
"All mine."
His smile was as wide as I'd ever seen it. "I am yours, Bridget. I think I have been since the moment you walked into my office for a job interview." "Really?"
"Really."
"Huh. That's funny because I thought you were hot. I actually pictured what it would be like to be bent over your desk."
He laughed. "You're fucking with me."
"Not at all." I thought for a moment. "Does that mean love at first sight is real?"
"There was something for sure." I rested my head on his chest.
"Are you sure you're happy with this house? In hindsight, I should have had you be a part of the process."
"As long as you're here, it's perfect." "Can you move in now? Today?"
I lifted my head. "Try to keep me away."
His fingers brushed through my hair, pushing it back. "Never. I guess I need to get another set of baby stuff though. And a safer car. And car seats. Childproof locks. Those doodads that go into light sockets."
I laughed. "We have a little time. Technically, I'm due in April, but the doctor said that twins often come early, so it could be March."
He blanched. "What's wrong?"
"In six months, I'm going to be a dad." He pressed his hand over his heart. "I'm terrified. What do I know about being a dad?"
"Do you love the babies?"
His hand moved to my belly. "With all my heart. The three of you are my life now."
"That's all you need to know. The rest we'll learn along the way. And maybe with some tips from Lizzie.”
His expression dropped again. "What about your dad?"
"He's coming around. At least with me. I think it's weird for him. He's known you since he was a kid and now, you're naked in bed with his daughter."
"It does sound perverted, doesn't it?"
"No. I don't think so." I rested my head on his chest again.
We lay in silence, not needing words as I listened to his heartbeat against my cheek. My stomach growled, breaking the silence.
"Are you hungry?" he asked. "The babies are."
"I had the fridge and pantry stocked. Let's go see what choices we have." He got out of bed, putting on his jeans. He went to the closet. "I moved in already. You can wear my robe."
"Wow. You really were confident." I slipped my hands into the sleeves. He wrapped the robe around me, leaving his hands on my belly and kissing my neck. "I was hopeful. I worried about what you were thinking and feeling since I didn't contact you over the last few days."
I turned in his arms. "I hoped that was because you were giving me and dad space."
He nodded. "Yes. For a time, I tried to work out how I could fix things with you and your dad."
I arched a brow. "I don't need a fixer."
He smiled. "I know. Ethan reminded me of that. So, I pressed forward on asking for what I wanted. I bought this place and then came to replace you."
I looped my arms around his neck. "Even when you thought the babies were someone else's?"
He nodded. "I looked up if it was possible for me to adopt them in utero."
God, if I didn't love this man already, I would have fallen head over heels at that.
"What I want...need, is you, Bridget."
"I feel terrible that I didn't tell you about them sooner."
"I don't love it either, but what's past is past. We're on the same page now, right?"
I nodded. "If the same page is that we're a family."
"That's the page." He kissed me. "Now, let's go feed the babies."
Dane made lunch of sandwiches and fruit, and then showed me the rest of the house. We finished in a large room on the first floor.
"I didn't tell you. Your marketing campaign is producing even better results than projected," he told me as I took in the room with floor to ceiling bookshelves along one wall.
I looked at him and grinned. "I'm good."
"You're fantastic. If you liked the job and wanted to come back, we'd love to have you. I know Ethan misses having you around."
I studied him. "You're okay with that?"

"I know you're just friends. I think Lane is hurt but she's a good person and would love to see you again."
I looked down in shame. I shouldn't have run off like I had. "I owe her an apology. And I'd like to come by sometimes to see you. Maybe you could bend me over your desk."
His blue eyes flashed with heat.
"But I'd really like to build my business. Especially with two babies coming, being able to set my schedule and work from home will be important."
He nodded. "I thought you might say that. So, this is your office. It's wired for the fastest Internet I could get. I've put in a separate phone line for business calls. I didn't furnish it because you need to decide what you need and how you want it set up.' This man never failed to astonish me. "You're spoiling me." "Is that bad?"
"No. But I might get used to it." He smiled. "I hope you do."
We made love in the window seat of my new office to christen it. That was when Dane told me that he wanted to take me to meet his parents.
"Now?"
"Tonight. I told them I'd be there for dinner and that I'd likely bring someone."
I felt sick to my stomach, and it wasn't the babies. "Is your mom expecting Anne?"
"I hope not." He held me close. "No matter what, Bridget, I'll support you."
"What if they're rude and then I'm rude back?"
He laughed. "Oh, baby, that's what I'm hoping for." "What about my dad and Lizzie?"
It was his turn to blanch. "Can we do one set of parents at a time?" "Sure." I'd come wearing shorts and an oversized shirt. "I can't go in the clothes I came here in."
He took my hand leading me back upstairs. "You didn't buy me clothes too, did you?"
"Is that bad?"
"No, it's just...I'm not a regular size."
He stopped outside the closet. "You're a perfect size." He opened the closet.
I gasped, but mostly at the size of it. It was nearly as big as the guesthouse. Along one wall, several dresses and shirts hung.
"In the dresser there, you'll replace pants, shorts, things like that. They're all maternity."
I looked at him, arching a brow. "Underwear too?" He nodded. "And bras."
"I was going to accuse you of being a dirty man, but maternity underwear and bras aren't very sexy."
"Clothes don't make a woman sexy." "See, there you go again being sweet."
He stepped up to me, pulling me until our bodies were flush. "Do you want me to be dirty?"
"I love both."
He kissed my nose. "I know this is all overboard, but...I didn't want you to have to go back to your parents tonight."
I could understand that. I didn't really want to go home. No, not my home, because this was my home now.
"I'm glad you did this. I needed clothes anyway."
When we drove up the drive to Dane's parents, my nerves ramped up as I saw the size of the house. "God, your family is like Bruce Wayne rich."
He reached over, taking my hand and bringing it to his lips for a kiss. "They're people like everyone else."
When we stepped out of the car, I looked down at the emerald, green dress Dane had picked out because he thought it would look great with my hair. It also went with the gorgeous emerald ring he bought me. I was glad I pulled my hair back so it looked somewhat sophisticated. I wasn't sure I'd be posh enough for his parents.
He took my hand and led me to the door. He knocked, which seemed weird. Why not just go in? It was his parents' place, for goodness sake.
A butler led us to a room he called the parlor. It looked like a living room
to me.
His father sat in a chair while his mother stood stoic by a fireplace. Her gaze immediately went to me, and her eyes narrowed. She didn't like me.

I swallowed and did my best to smile.
"Mom, dad, I want you to meet Bridget Franklin."
"Manion." This was the one time I wanted to use my dad's name to help me. He wasn't filthy rich like Dane's family, but he was known especially in real estate development circles. "Which is it?" his father asked.
"Manion." Dane squeezed my hand. "Franklin-Manion. But soon to be MacLeod."
"It's nice to meet you both," I said. Did I go shake their hands? Or did I curtsey?
His mother's eyes went from slits to saucers. His father scowled. "What about Anne?" his mother asked.
"I've told you many times, Anne and I aren't together. I don't love her. I love Bridget."
His mother's gaze drew down to my midsection. A look of horror crossed her face. "Can I talk to you for a moment, Dane?"
"You can talk to me here." He put his arm around me, and I took that to mean he was giving me extra support because she was about to say something unkind. "You've always been a good soul, Dane. But should you really be marrying a woman in her condition? It's kind of you to want to protect her reputation but-" "The babies are mine. If her reputation is ruined, I did it." His mother gasped.
"Did you say babies?" his father asked.
"Yes. I'm...er... Dane and I are having twins." I rested my hand on my belly, feeling the need to protect them from Dane's parents.
"I know you're happy for me. Afterall, you wanted me to get married and give you grandchildren." Dane was ordering them to be happy.
"Well yes, but
"
"Surely you want me to be happy?" His mother stiffened. "Of course."
"Bridget makes me happy. Incandescent. That should be enough, but perhaps you might want to know that the uptick in sales and profits in the last
quarter are due to her marketing ideas. She's made you richer." They looked at me and I smiled nervously.
"Manion?" His father's brow scrunched up in thought. "Are you related to Troy Manion?"
"Yes, sir. He's my father."
His parents' gaze shot to Dane.
"Troy, your friend?" his mother asked. Dane shifted. "Yes."
"Oh my." She put her hand over her heart. "How old are you?" his father asked me. "Twenty-two." Or nearly.
"She's a little young, don't you think, son?"
I don't know what happened, but irritation overcame my nerves. "I'm old enough to love your son and am having his twins."
"What does your father think?" his mother asked. "It doesn't matter." I looked up at Dane.
He nodded. "It doesn't matter what any of you think. But I'm hoping you'll be happy for me and welcome Bridget and our children into the family."
His parents shared a look. My dad and Lizzie did that sometimes. It was like they had telepathy. I wondered if Dane and I would develop that.
"You will be getting married soon, won't you?" She glanced at my belly again.
We hadn't talked about dates.
"I'd marry her today if I could, but I want to give her the biggest wedding."
"I don't need a big wedding. I'd like family and friends around, but it doesn't have to be fancy."
"How about here?" his mother offered, shocking me. "The yard is ample enough. I can have the gardener make sure to have things in bloom even though it's October. It's still nearly seventy out these days." "That sounds lovely," I said. She was probably wanting it at home to hide it from her society friends. No doubt there would be gossip about Dane marrying the woman he knocked up.
Dane studied me. "Are you sure? Whatever you want, I'll give it to you." "Would you fly us to Vegas?" I asked.
He grinned. "In a minute."
"Oh God, please no," his mother gasped.
Dane laughed and leaned down to kiss me. Then he looked at his parents. "I guess we'll get married here."
