Bridget

Oh. My. God. He was so big. It felt like he touched every place inside me. I gripped him with my arms, my legs, my pussy not wanting him to change his mind.

Yes, this was wrong or at the very least dangerous, but I was powerless against my desire to be with him. I'd never met a man who was so upfront and honest about what was going on with him. The man today was the same man I'd met the first day I came in and interviewed. He was sweet, vulnerable, and it was so sexy.

He withdrew and thrust again. I moaned and he pressed his lips on mine, probably to keep me from letting the entire building know he was fucking me in his office.

He let loose, bucking fast and hard. The friction of him plunging in and out of me, shot me to the edge of reason.

"Dane...Oh God..."

"Come, Bridget..." He growled against my neck. "Jesus, fuck...I'm coming."

He thrust hard, grinding his hips against me, hitting my clit. Fireworks blasted. I arched, my body tightening as my orgasm swept through me.

We continued to move like two feral beasts. If anyone walked in, they'd be getting an eyeful.

When the orgasms settled, he dropped his forehead against mine. "Do I need to apologize?" "I don't know what for."

He lifted his head, his blue eyes so sincere. "I'm still your boss." "Should I apologize to you?" "Why?"

"I'm still a lot younger than you."

He smiled. It always felt like a gift when he did that. It was like Christmas when he laughed.

I pressed my hands to his cheeks. "I love my job, Dane."

His smile faltered and he started to pull away, but I used my legs, still wrapped around him, holding him inside me to keep him close. "But I want this too," I finished. "Sex?"

"Well, that but you too. If we're discreet, can't we have both?" Perhaps I was being young and naïve, but I wanted my cake and to eat it too. "It's dangerous. For both of us."

It was my turn to feel disappointment. I released my legs and reached down to put the girls back into my bra and rebutton my shirt. "But." He took my hands, kissing my wrist in a gesture that made my heart melt. "I want this too."

"Sex?" I asked.

"You." He kissed me then and, in that moment, I felt like I'd won the lottery. I had a great job and an even greater man. What else could I want? "I'd like that."

He continued to hold my hands. "I can come by your place later tonight." "No!"

He flinched and frowned at me, releasing my hands.

God. I couldn't have him coming to my parents' house. If he thought I was too young now, what would living with my parents make him think about me?

I smiled again. "I have roommates." That wasn't a total lie. He nodded. "Okay. You can come to my place."

"I'd like to see where you live." I straightened his tie, liking that I could touch him like this, if only in private.

"I'll text you my address."

The phone on his desk buzzed. He picked up the receiver but kept his eyes on me. "Yes."

The smile in his eyes dimmed, making me concerned about the call. "Send him in." He hung up. "Bran Erickson is here."

I quickly checked my clothes while Dane moved behind his desk. We didn't look like we just had sex, did we?

"I'll get out of your way."

He winked and I headed to the door, opening it to see Bran. His gaze ran up and down my body. My cheeks heated as I worried that he could tell what I'd just done with Dane. "You look a bit flushed. Does that always happen when meeting with your boss?"

I ignored him, pushing around him, and heading to my office. Alone at my desk, I let out a breath.

"What have you gotten yourself into?"

Dane was right. Sex with the boss was dangerous. If it got out, people would think I slept my way to the job.

I was focused on my career, so that should have had me backing away from Dane. Instead, I'd told him we could be together if we were discreet. He surprised me by agreeing.

Whatever was going on between us, it was powerfully strong. Maybe if we indulged it, we'd burn through it and then part ways, gaining the ability to work together without the distraction of attraction. The only problem with that was that odds were the more time I spent with him, the more time I'd want to spend with him. I loved the dichotomy of this powerful, intense man who could be so gentle and sweet.

A knock on my door drew me out of my thoughts. "Come in." Ethan poked his head in. "Everything okay?"

I waved him in. "Yes."

"You and Dane were able to hammer things out?" He entered my office but didn't sit. "Yes, hammered it all out." The image of Dane hammering inside me flashed in my mind.

"Good. He didn't hassle you about the charity event, did he?" "No. He actually apologized."

"Good." He cocked his head to the side. "Are you sure you're okay?" "Yes. Why? Do I not look okay?"

He shrugged. "Something is different. But if you say you're fine, then I'll take your word for it. Listen, the marketing department was psyched about the presentation's success, and we want to celebrate. Drinks after work. Since you're the big winner today, you have to come."

I thought about my date to see Dane later. I was going to decline Ethan's offer, but then I remembered that I wanted to be valued and respected at the company. If I blew them off to go blow the boss, I'd be working against my own interests. No matter what, I had to keep my career first and foremost in my mind.

"Maybe just one drink," I said.

"Great. I've got to go talk to Dane. He's in a good mood, right?" "He was when I left, but Bran was just arriving."

"Shit. The two of them are like oil and water." "More like gasoline and a fire."

He laughed. "Right. Well, see you tonight." He left my office and I pulled out the work I needed to do now that Dane had approved the proposal.

I was finishing up drafting a memo for the real estate offices when my phone rang.

"Bridget Franklin." "Jet, it's your dad."

I winced. He had to be hurt that I was using my mother's last name instead of his. "Hi dad."

"Listen, Lizzy's birthday is coming up and I want to throw her a big shindig. You can be there, right?" He gave me the date.

I looked at my calendar. "I don't see why not."

"Great. Can you help me with the plans? I know she'll love it if the whole family is involved. Ari got hold of a clipboard and is organizing the kids to take care of decorations."

I laughed. Ari was a hoot. "Yes, of course. We can talk about it when I get home."

"That's the thing, for now I want it to be a surprise. I doubt it will stay that way. One of the kids will spill the beans, but I'd like to try and keep it a secret. Hence the call."

"Okay. What do you need me to do?"

He told me his plans for the party and what he hoped I could help him with, which was mostly playing hostess so that Lizzy didn't have to. He also needed help wrapping presents and planning food. "I'm cooking tonight. Steak and potatoes. You'll be home for dinner right?"

Normally I was. "Sounds good, but I ah...I have drinks with my colleagues tonight. They want to celebrate my successful first marketing

presentation."

"Congratulations, Jet. I'm so proud of you."

"I bet you're shocked too. Tell me the truth, when mom dumped me on your doorstep, you didn't think I'd make it through high school, much less college and a career."

"I always believed in you. I just wasn't sure I could be the dad you needed to get you there."

I smiled. It was rough going between us at first, but with Lizzy's help, we came through the difficulties. "You did great."

"Yeah, well, without Lizzy, who knows where we'd both be." "You're not wrong."

We both laughed.

"Have a good time with your colleagues. Call me if you have too much to drink and need a ride." It was the same line he gave me in high school when I'd go to a friend's party even though I was underage then.

I guess he knew that teenagers had a way to get alcohol. Fortunately, I hadn't imbibed so much that I'd needed to take him up on his offer. I might have challenged him at first, but I'd learned quickly that while he floundered as a dad, he was sincere in wanting to be my dad. He definitely put more effort into it than my mom had.

I wondered if someday I'd be like him. Have a devoted spouse and a house full of kids. Dane flashed in my mind. He'd be good with kids. But I shook my head. It was silly to have fairytale fantasies. Sure, I'd witnessed several good marriages with my dad and his friends, but I knew the stats. Plus, while I didn't feel Dane was too old for me, I was still young. I had time.
