Chapter 1136

Chapter 1136

'She's now so close to Alfred while I'm an outsider?

'It seems I'm not only late for six months.'

Cedrick ignored Catelyn's sarcasm and nonchalantly took a seat at the table.

Catelyn compressed her lips and said nothing more. She saw that among the food Cedrick had brought over were several bottles of chili sauce. It went well with the pasta.

The chili sauce was not very spicy and was nutritious. It contained a lot of ground beef.

Catelyn used to love the chili sauce, so she instantly opened a bottle and planned to try it. For most of the year, she ate only light food. She thought it should be fine to eat a little spicy food occasionally. She tried to open the bottle but failed, as she was afraid to try hard. Seeing this, Alfred took the bottle. Alfred then put some chili sauce onto Catelyn's plate.

"Although it is not very spicy, you can't eat too much. This should be enough for you."

Catelyn was tempted by the chili sauce, but she didn't want to eat a lot of spicy food either, so she repeatedly nodded, "All right!"

The cook smiled and said, "When Ms. Clark said she wanted to have some chili sauce, Mr. Wagner searched the whole island but couldn't replace any. Now, Ms. Clark can finally enjoy it!"

Alfred smiled with affection at Catelyn. He then poured a glass of water for Catelyn.

"If you feel it's too spicy, drink some water."

Catelyn nodded. The chili sauce was tasty. Catelyn finished all the chili sauce on her plate. The corners of her mouth were stained with the red oil from the chili sauce, which made her lips even more scarlet. Alfred stared at her steadily. He forgot to eat his food.

Catelyn looked up and asked, "Why aren't you eating? Does the food not suit your appetite?"

Alfred came back to his senses and then he put a chicken fillet on Catelyn's plate. "Don't eat vegetables only. You should eat some meat, too. You're pregnant. Don't complain that I'm being petty, treating you like a sheep and giving you only vegetables."

Catelyn was amused. The two chatted, completely ignoring Cedrick as if he wasn't there.

As Cedrick listened to the two chatting cheerfully, he was upset. He lost his appetite even though every dish looked delicious.

He put down his fork in silence, without making any noise to attract Catelyn's attention as he did earlier. He went to the balcony to smoke. The greenish-white smoke rose slowly into the air and was quickly dispersed by the wind.

Catelyn saw Cedrick smoking out of the corner of her eye. Heavy rain was beating against the window. The shrub waved violently outside the window. Cedrick was standing alone on the balcony, his back to her. He looked forlorn.

Catelyn felt choked up at the sight, and she lost her appetite.

"If Cedrick's presence annoys you, I'll talk him to leave." Alfred said when he noticed Catelyn was upset.

Catelyn shook her head, her eyes sore. "Let's eat. Leave him alone."

Alfred responded with a smile, but he felt a tinge of loss inside...

Cedrick had been here for less than a day and Catelyn had become so emotional.

Alfred had tried to cheer Catelyn up before, but she only gave a faint smile each time.

After dinner, Alfred and Catelyn cleaned the table together.

After clearing the table, Alfred glanced at Cedrick, who was still smoking on the balcony in silence.

On the island, there was little entertainment.

Catelyn went to bed early at night.

She and Alfred slept in the two bedrooms on the second floor, and Cedrick, the bodyguards, and the others slept on the first floor.

Catelyn felt thirsty during the night because of the chili sauce she had eaten for dinner. She went downstairs to get some water...
