Our Luna, Our Mate Chapter Eros's POV

After leaving our father's office, I quickly moved to follow my brother who was suddenly storming off towards the lower level of the pack house before moving to exit out the front door, his anger in full swing as pack members tried to move from the area. "Ares?" I called him, only to get the silent treatment as he continued onward.

"ARES!" I yell this time around as I swiftly move to grab him by the arm, attempting to stop him from going anywhere knowing that my brother was truly angry and had every right to be as well. ""WHAT?!" shouts Ares as he moves to look at me, his eyes narrowing rage as if he was ready to snap at the next person who crossed his path.

"Look, I know your angry, angry at father, angry at the council, angry in general but storming off like this isn't going to help us either. We need to figure this out" I say hoping to reason with him if only a little. "No Éros, nothing you or I say or do will ever fix this" replies Ares. "Father clearly doesn't care and if he does he shows it poorly, mother on the other hand hasn't said one word on the matter and the council acts like their shit doesn't stink."

"Whoa there, you can't honestly think that do you?" asks Kai as he and Lucas finally approach us once we had gotten far enough away from the pack house and any prying ears as we talked about what was going on. "I do" growls Ares as he turns to look at Kai. "I truly feel like our father doesn't care about anyone other than himself".

"But he's Alpha, he has to care" replies Lucas softly. "Yes, in some way he does. But it's an Alpha's job to care for what happens inside the pack just like we'll have to someday but when it comes down to his sons, he doesn't have to care so long as he listens to us" I state, my hands still holding onto Ares as I look to both of our Betas.

"That's... messed up" mutters Lucas as he shakes his head.

"Indeed it is but as his only sons, it's our responsibility as the next Alpha to know when things get rough, like with father and the mating ball" I say, hoping it would help clarify things.

"But still, he's making you go" comments Kai who couldn't understand that reasoning. Chapter 10

"Because as future leaders, it helps to make us look good while keeping the treaties in line with everything else in the world for should we not go the council could very much frown upon it or worse deem us unfit to be Alpha and appoint the title to someone else which would make father even more disappointed" grumbles Ares who was slowly trying to contain his anger.

"Exactly, which is why even though we hate this, we know we have to because if we both don't our position as Alpha could be questioned" I finish, not wanting to dwell on this any longer than it needed to.

Emma, a girl who stood 5 4 with long platinum blonde hair, petite but fit frame and had beautiful blue-gray eyes.

"Oh shut up" growls Ares as he eyes our Gamma and Delta as Sam stood slightly behind Seth while holding Emily another girl who stood at 5'2 with short pixie blonde hair and the most unique eye color ever seen, for unlike most who had the standard blue or brown eye, Emily had violet color eyes and a very small petite frame making her the shortest member in our group.

"Ooo, Ouch" laughs Sam as we all move to sit underneath a tree that was just off near small pond once Ares was okay.

"Oh shut it Sam" I say before noticing two sets of identical marks on both Seth and Sam as well as their mates as they had finally mated with them.

"Looks like someone was busy" jokes Ares who also noticed the marks, making Emma and Emily

"Ya.. Um.. Well..." stammers Sam, as he tries to replace the words to say.

"For the love of..." mutters Seth before continuing "Yes, we finally decided to go ahead and mate with our mates, that way everyone inside the pack as well as the ball will all know that we are now completely taken".

Mmm, I hum as I just listen, knowing it was probably best since we didn't need extra trouble with all the unmated wolves, much less with our Beta, Gamma, and Delta as they were each handsome in their own way.

'Maybe now, they too can move into the pack house' mumbles Deimos who was happy for our Gamma as well as our Delta, each of them deserving the position as well as their new found love. 'Here's hoping' I say to him just as Ares speaks up from his spot right next to me.

Chapter 10

"Are you four planning to move into the pack house once the ball is over? Kai and Lucas are planning to move into the Beta Suite as you both know, and with both of you being our Gamma and Delta the other two suites are yours" replies Ares with a thought. "You know we really didn't think much of it, especially during the mating part of everything but now that you mention it, yeah Sam and I had both been discussing it and we think we just might do that" answers Seth as he glances at Sam who only nods. "Wonderful" I tell them with a smile, glad to have them at the pack house as well.

"Indeed, but before anything else can happen you both must know that Lily has returned" chimes Ares with a look of hate on his face for he truly did hate her. "WHAT" shout both Seth and Sam.

"When?" asks Sam.

"About t a day ago, just after the three of you left, we decided to head back towards the pack house to freshen up. Needless to say we weren't happy to see who it was that greeted us upon our return" I growl, displeased by everything too far. "Man,

when will she finally get the hint that nobody wants her" mutters Seth as he runs a hand through his hair, the mood suddenly turning to dread.

"Who knows man, for all we know she's just here to scheme against our future Luna" comes Sam's remark as he looks deflated suddenly.

"Okay you two enough, as much as we all hate Lily, father and mother both agreed to look into it, for now we need to focus on the ball as we leave in just 2 days" comments Ares as he pushes his own hatred for the girl aside.

"So how long is the ball?" asks Emma, a look of curiosity now on her face as she and Emily had. never been to one as the Midnight Pack was very secluded.

"Normally on average, a mating ball can last about 3 days if not longer, but if anything happens or if our mate is their then Ares and I had both agreed that we would leave, and we would not stay for the remaining part" comes my reply, as I move to look at Ares who nodded. "Whoa, why 3 days?" asks Lucas.

"To give all the unmated wolves a chance at replaceing their mate, but we only need 1, because we already know that our mate will be there; it'll just be a matter of replaceing her," says Ares with confidence.

"Makes sense, Kinda, like an opportunity for any wolf who shows up late or didn't get a chance to come on the first day of the ball" comments Emily who was trying to look at the bigger picture.

"Sure, you could call it that" shrugs Sam. "But it's more like, this is the rule of the council and you'd be stupid to break it".

Laughing at Sam's response I can't help but shed a small tear for in reality it really was true. The council made the mating ball strictly for that reason and that reason only and if by some reason you couldn't replace your mate in that time frame one would be appointed to you and you would be forced to take a chosen to ensure the safety of your pack and it's future.
