Our Luna, Our Mate Chapter 120

Athena's POV

"The Capital you say? That sounds exciting" smiles Gwen, happy that her daughter was getting a chance to spread her wings and have a girls' day with those who made her happy.

"I sure hope so. I've never been. My uncle would never let me go anywhere outside the pack before" I admit for a second time that day.

"Never?" asks Gwen, now shocked by my words.

"No... I'm afraid not," I reply, a blush now making its way along my cheeks as it did.

"How come?" questions Gwen.

"Don't know, maybe too scared that I'd run away or that I'd tell someone of what they would do to me. Either way my family never allowed me much freedom when it came to matters like that" I admit. "That's horrible" whispers Gwen, unable to believe her ears and what she was hearing as she did.

"Indeed" I whisper, my eyes now moving to look at my lap, unsure of what else to say to her. Having bottled up much of my life and emotions deep within me because no one else seemed to care about me Not true. There's Maya' whispers Artemis.

At the mention of Maya, I can't help but feel a tiny smile begin to rise along my lips. For without Maya in my life I was not sure where I would have ended up. For Maya was one of the many reasons that I kept going. My reason for living when everything else seemed to have been falling apart at the seams.

Deciding to shift the subject of me being unable to do much during my time at the Moon Walker Pack does Gwen move to ask me another question.

"Have you decided on who you're taking with you to the Capital?" asks Gwen instead.

"Hmmm... I was thinking of maybe Emma or Emily or maybe even both. I've been thinking about it all morning since Elise called to ask" I reply back, knowing it was true.

"Both sound like wonderful choices dear. I'm sure either would offer to go with you."

Smiling, I move to nod my head. Knowing that it was true. All I had to do was ask and I would get my answer.

A few hours later

It was now about mid-afternoon and I was currently helping Gwen in the kitchen. During my initial visit that morning, Gwen and I had been sitting and talking for what seemed like hours straight until suddenly my stomach began to growl signaling to her that it was now time for lunch.

Giggling at my stomach's reply, does Gwen move to extend the offer of having lunch with them in which I agree to before the both of us move to begin making lunch for everyone. Alarick as well as Adrian both due to return home soon and we both thought it would be nice to surprise them with a warm home cooked meal.

I can't wait to see Adrian, my little wolf pup, I mused. Excitement rising at seeing my little boy.

Then as if my thoughts had been answered, I suddenly felt tiny arms move to wrap themselves around my legs as I stood within the kitchen helping Gwen cook and prepare food.

"MOMMY!" cries the voice of Adrian in excitement as he rushes to gre me.

"Hello Adrian" I coo, moving to embrace my son once I had finished with my task. Gently lifting him into my arms as I did. The need to hold him rising.

"I've missed you mommy" whines Adrian softly, a slight frown rising as I try not to show it.

"I've missed you too little one" I move to say back to him, for it was trug. As long as Lily was still out there, somewhere I knew my children would not be safe, at all.

'We need to trust in our mates, whispers Artemis with a whine, not liking the fact we were always separated from our pups even though they still came home most nights while other times they stayed with Gwen and Alarick.

'I'm trying too, I really am I whisper back. My heart knowing just how painful everything currently was for us.

Shaking my uneasy thoughts aside, do I move to focus on Adrian instead. "Did you have fun with Grandpa?" "Yes! He took me fishing today" beams Adrian with a smile, his eyes shining brightly as he did.

"Fishing? How cool is that? Did you manage to catch anything good?" I ask, curious to see if he did or not. "No" ponts Adrian. "I wasn't able to."

"That's okay little one. There will be many more times than just this. And who knows maybe you might just catch something big the next

time you go with him" I offer, hoping to cheer him up.

"Really?"

"Really, now then how about we wash you up and get you ready for lunch?" I offer to him, his tummy already grumbling at the mention of

food.

Nodding his head, we move to go and wash his hands just as both of my mates move to enter their parents house. Shocked at their presence, do I attempt to ask without being rude. "Loves?"

"Yes Love?" chuckles Eros, his eyes still on me and Adrian as both he and Ares continued to stand before us.

"W-What brings you both here?" I finally asked them.

"Mom. She mindlinked us and asked if we wanted to have lunch with you and the kids and we said yes" admits Ares, my heart pounding within my chest as it did, happy to be spending time with them however brief it was.

Unable to hide nor deny my feelings and emotions I only moved to nod my head, moving to set Adrian down once we were done with washing his hands. My thoughts now on my husbands now jumbled for didn't think they would be there, but there they were. Standing clearly in front of me, easing my nerves as they did. For earlier that morning during my time with Gwen, I had begun to feel anxious and

scared.

Mates are safe. Our safe place,' purrs Artemis happily.

Feeling warmth beginning to spread throughout my entire body, I only move to nod my head. Knowing we would always be safe with them as long as our mates were around to protect us, Always and forever.
