Chapter Two: Homeless.
I don't really know how the days have passed, I don't even remember getting off the couch, I'vebeen numb the whole time. Sitting there and watching the yellow monster, they want to demolishthe building. I agree it deserves to be demolished but what about the lone souls living here.
But it happened today is my first day as a homeless person. Mr.Thompson stopped by this morningto tell me to leave or he's calling the cops, I guess his offer to let me stay with him was over. Ishudder at the thought I prefer to die than to be with him, I was never intimate with anyone, andthank you very much but my first won't be with a bolding overweight middle-aged pervert.
I'm holding my duffle bag that contains everything I own including Leo I would never leave him, thisreminds me of the first time I've been on my own. I survived then and I will survive now.
I'm a walking zombie, lost in my thoughts I don't even notice when I collide with a human mountainI fell backward with a big oomph, I look up and up and up I had to crane my neck to see the face ofthe guy and damn he's a site standing at 6'2 feet, with a strong jaw, deep green eyes with a silverrim to them, dirty blond hair that falls over to his chin.
"I'm sorry sugar, let me help you up” I felt strong hands lift me off the floor I still had to look up tosee his face since I hardly reach his chin.
Laughing he bent down to face me and says "you are a cute little thing aren't you sugar.”
Panicked I stutter and try to get away from the giant, only to collide with a second identical humanwall, but this one isn't laughing, his hair is cut shorter but still can run his hand through it, and hiseyes are piercing as he can see right into my soul and my darkest deepest secret.
Cornered between the twins I start to hyperventilate, I'm scared. The dark twin notices and brusheshis fingers over my chin "It's okay sweetie just breath, we're not going to hurt you".
His voice is deep demanding to be obeyed and I do just that, my breathing is more controlled now,but I'm still looking around wanting to get away.
Apparently, I wasn't as discrete as I thought I was since the same twin talk again "Shh you're safe, what's your name sugar? I'm Kane and the smug over there is my twin Kyle."
I couldn't help the giggle that escaped my lips, they are identical and even their names match. Iquickly cover my mouth with both my hands and blush. Still looking at me expectantly Iremembered he asked me a question, I blush again and whisper "I'm Nala.”
They both looked at me like I'm something special, maybe a freak. Probably the latter with how Ilook and feel right now. They called me sugar and sweetie but I felt anything but sweet right now. Icouldn't take it anymore I just ran away.
Kyle POV
I just can't believe my luck, she's the cutest thing ever with mousey brown locks falling around hershoulders, blue eyes, and the cutest dimples even her giggle was adorable.
I looked over my twin still grinning like an idiot
"Kane I think she’s the one”
My brother exhale dramatically and look me over.
"Come on man don't tell me u didn't feel pulled, she's a walking doll"
This time Kane gave me a full eye-roll before replying
"Yeah I agree she is a doll, an underweight one, did you see her eyes, she looked lost and sad""Yeah I saw her but we can fix it, come on man let's call the alpha " I replied while dialing our alphaChristian.
Yes?!
"Well hello to you too"
"Anything you want Kane?"
"I think we just found the one, and before you say no even grumpy over here agree with me *There was silence on the line followed by a desperate
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm hundred percent sure trust us"
"Follow her, keep an eye on her we'll decide how to proceed afterward”
The line was dead and Kyle did a quick happy dance, he's finally going to get a baby to play with.Nala POV
After my rundown with the twins I got to work under a dizzy spell, I'm a waiter at an old schooldinner we have the retro feeling or so the owner Mr. Adams like to think, being a stubborn sixty-four-year-old guy no one was willing to discuss the matter with him, we left the old man live hisown dreams.
I slip quickly into my watering uniform a short yellow dress that barely covers my bum, with a brownapron on top. The skirt is on the way too short scale but the other girls say it's better for tips, I onthe other hand keep pulling down to stay covered.
We were unusually busy for a Thursday night, most of our workload came during the weekends. Thenight passed quickly with me hardly having time to sit down, better than sitting and having time todrown in my misery.
By the end of my shift, it was dark outside and I had nowhere to go, I tried to convince myself thatI'm strong enough.
You can do it Nala, no 17 years old is afraid of the dark, I'll just go and sit at the park till it'smorning, it's hardly cold anyway, I'll figure things out, I always do.
After my pep talk, I say my goodbyes and walk outside. It's a seven-block walk over to the park, Ican do it, I can do it. I'm two blocks away when I hear something behind me, I don't turn I just keepwalking, the street light decide to give up over my head and I panic I know it's dumb but I'm afraidof the dark and I take off running.
